@oteptea It's an old comic book relationship. Back when the "bad-boy" archtypel hero figure wasn't so cliche and over-done. He and Scott are polar opposites, Scott being a remnant hero personality of WW2 (duty, honor, self-control, etc.) So, basically, they're just perfect personality conflicts. I personally like Scott in this day in age, the bad-boy thing has really run it's course. It's more "edgy" to be a prep, lol.
@oteptea Yea, in my opinion, they're pretty cut from the same cloth. There are differences of course, but more then a few similarities. Furthermore, Cyclops is a massively under-appreciated character, I've always thought that he plays the "burden of command" theme very well.
@EJNewbury I think an explanation on the story of the characters wasn't done well in the X-MEN movies, causing the movies and characters to be less interesting then they could have been. Perhaps the future sequels will improve on this.
@oteptea I agree, but, I do also see the problem from the film-makers perspective; you're trying to make a 2 hour move, that will sell, out of 60 years of story. It's simply an overwhelming task. As far as the character part is concerned, I actually blame our culture. We're far too obsessed with the rebellious archtype. I mean, how unoriginal is it now. I think all the X-men should have gotten story time, but it ended up being all about Wolverine.
@EJNewbury Then the film-maker shouldn't be opposed to making at least a saga of long movies. I think major scenes that center around other characters than Wolverine would be interesting to the audience, I would like to see them.
@oteptea I agree with you, I'm just sure it's easier said then done. If you were going to make an on-going sage of a superhero comic, though, it would be X-Men. It has some of the richest themes of social dynamics and politics; philosophy, humanities. As long as they don't just focus on two hours of blowing shut up - I'm happy.
@EJNewbury Yeah and probably the most fans. It would be worth the expenses and effort to make them, people would be satisfied. Hopefully the actors would stay interested in playing the same characters.
shadowcat first of 3 different actors in as many movies ... not to mention the fact that she's blatantly changing age all the time : she looks 18-early 20 in this one . 13-15 in X2 16-18 in last stand (hence the fact they deleted the shadowcat/iceman kiss : they were rightfully concerned about pedophilia criticism). I just can't understand how people keep defending Xmen movie producers when they obviously screw up with their own contunuity
@SuperM1203 I agree with you on Rogue and Storm. But I liked what they did with Cyclops and Jean. I thought it was close to the comic with those too. Rogue was not the southern belle we love from the comics at all and Storm was too weak than she is in the comicv against Toad. Angela Basset would have been a better cast for Storm at the time. Now I would choose Zoe from the Avatar movie and the latest Star Trek film.
@biguy617 Halle Berry is a good Storm, blame Singer for the lame ass directing and script.Really " A toad struck by lightning"?
Not even Anglea Basset herself could have pulled that off,Besides that broad is too old now,and Zoe Salanda has no presence and is too young,WTF are you smoking.Halle just didn't have enough screen time, she was a good Storm.
No to Zoe!! she was a horrible Uhura,Anglea yes if younger, but not as big of an actress as Halle .
@aquamarine11500 Angela is too old now but she was at a good age to do it at the time when the first X-men movie was done. I hated Halle because she got beaten up too quickly against Toad. Storm is suppose to be stronger than that. I thought Zoe would be good because of her performance in Avatar. That is the way I want Storm to act.
@biguy617 Yeah agree on the Angela part, but no need to hate Halle, hate who wrote her that way.Halle berry didn't have anything to do with being beat up by Toad or her timid and short lines,it was the writers and directors fault.Actors convey the emotions that are given to them through script, and that's exactly what she did.
Notice Storm was more assertive in th last stand because of the bigger role.she had better lines and was more involved and a leader.all Halle was missing was the accent
She didn't do anything in Avatar, she was just a voice actor for a computer generated body.and by Storm being like Zoe's character in avatar, you want her to act all savage and wild like???
@aquamarine11500 She was not a savage. It is savage to pilage a land for profit. The Sky people were the savages. Her character cared about nature. Storm is very intuned with nature and Halle did not show that her her portrayal. Zoe did in Avatar.
@biguy617 BUT Halle din't have anything to to be in-tuned with other than her powers, they didn't have any scenes to show her being connected to nature, again the writers and directors fault, not Halle's...
Storm physically and spiritually and psionically linked to earth, she channels mother nature herself.she can sense dying plants and trees etc, feel objects moving through the atmosphere ,yet again Halle didn't have much of a push in the films.hopefully x-4 gives her that chance.
@aquamarine11500 I don't want to see an X-4 or anymoren stupid prequels. I want to see a reboot. I am even willing to see Wolverine be played by someone else. Hugh Jackman is not willing to put on the iconic costume. We need a better We need a Wolverine that is willing to put on the costume that fans love.
@biguy617 Do you really think that costume would look even remotely believable or even good on camera, in real life? It works in the comics for the sole reason of it being IN A COMIC. You want a comic-booky suit? Look at the Wonder Woman suit made for the recent pilot that never aired. That's comic-booky. Congratulations. Things need to be changed for stuff to work on film, such as Wolverine being changed from a 4 foot psychopathic midget to a rampaging, tall and handsome sex machine.
@CharlieDirkxVideos In my opinion the Wonderwoman TV show will not air because they went with the wrong costume. Too many people did not like a costume that was close to the comic but had leggings. They wanted the one piece strapless bathing suit uniform. THe Tv show makers changed the suit but not before NBC decided to not take it up. CW might change their minds since Smallville is done or mayby they will do a Batman tv show next.
@CharlieDirkxVideos The suit helps make the hero. I hate Wilverine's black leather costume as much as I hate Spiderman's new white costume he is wearting now that he is part of the F4, in the comics. The costume is important. Batman, Spiderman, Superman and Wolverine are known for their costumes.
