"ahh my Elizabeth" well its too bad Anne Boleyn couldn't say the same thing. if Henry appreciated Elizabeth so much then why did he have her mother executed!?!
@OpheliaBookworm I think is since she was declared illegitimate he had to act like he wasnt her father.Because in earlier scenes it really seemed that he loved her.maybe he bowed to her as sort of an apology for how shitty her life got
I have to admit this show kind of gives you a new perspective on Henry: Before I thought he was just a monster, but this show suggests he was just pressured, and all that stress made him do stupid things. He loved hiss girls, but he was under such pressure to have a boy he couldn't show to others he loved them, so he sent them away because he couldn't stand to be around them. I think if he hadn't been king, or under pressure, he would've been a great father.
@Rosecat16 It's not easy being King, sure he had power and wealth, but as any position in power there were expectations and traditions that he had to follow even if he didn't want to and enormous responsibilities were placed on his shoulders. So he couldn't love his girls the way he would have a son, it simply wasn't the proper way. If he were a common man, Henry would have been a great husband and it would have been okay for him to show affections to his girls.
@FantasmaLuna I love how he is with the newborn baby playing Prince Edward in the bloopers of season 3. He's truly amazing with children! He'll make a great Dad one day. :)
I love how he says "i've come to see my daughter" not "daughters".
If he felt that way, why didn't he just banish Mary along with her mother. She would have had such a happier life. He clearly didn't give much of a shit about his first surviving child.
That moment between them was the sole purpose of that scene and it was amazing and heartbreaking. They had the best chemistry on the show as father and daughter and were by far what made the show so interesting to me.
@Klwicky Because she didn't give him a son and he's a slut

Is that bow to Mary suppose to show respect or sarcasm?

Strange the way he says " please forgive me " to Elizabeth as if he knew what he was going to make her bear in a few years

Your majesty has no idea. :)
JRM certainly looks like he knows how to handle children. Look at how gentle he is with the baby!
