Just stunning, I made that climb in 1977 with a coup[le school buddies and it still looks just amazing. We packed from the Fresno side at General Sherman up the headwaters of the Kern and up from Guitar Lake I think you are looking down at 1:50, I remember it was dang near straight up from the lake and so many switchbacks and the view just got grander at each one, very cool videos, I ended up buying a mountaintop to live on lol
Thank you for your kind comments. Your trip from the west side was much longer and I bet just as awe inspiring. I will have to do that some day as we had no view on top on our trip. The view at 1:50 is actually Consultation Lake on the east side near Trail Camp, still going up to Trail Crest. I believe Guitar Lake is first shown at 4:00 and a better view at 6:43, both shots looking way down, probably at least 2,000 feet. Sounds like you are enjoying your mountaintop!
@peeps0000 Yes, that is more like I remember at 6:43 it was way, waay up from it lol. took all day from the river to the 13,000 something foot trail sign by dusk so we never actually stood on the very top, we were very beat and gravity delivered us to Lone Pine in no time . I think it was 11 days total we spent and 95 ? miles, a most memorable trip, just stunning and time forgotten country, giant trees and the upper Kern cuts a most dynamic path, highly recommend.
