  • aah this is my fav kata! I have compete in Jion last 2-3 years (I take others kata too!) I have the black belt and I have practist last 10 years. And yeah If you dont practis karate, you dont know how hard it is to be good in karate, you have to practis everything in kata and kumeti, movements, breath and everything!! to do everything right in kata and kumeti is freaking hard.

  • @Diakjarnested it is propably right all what you are saying but in old times kata was not for competition! It was meaned for life saving in life dangerous situations, i think it is better (and maybe easyer) to practise bearing this in mind!

  • tsouf tsouf only sound

  • nice kata, but I do not see any hip movement.

  • @frankdux21 - Then it's not a nice kata.

This guy has tons of potential and my advice would be to start training under a really good karate Sensei (not one who is interested in medals). I am sure with practice this guy could become excellent at Jion and other kata.

  • @BelloBudo007 Yes, you are right. He is talented but the techniques are not perfect.

  • @frankdux21 - Sadly in karate it's popular to be critical. I'd like to see comments that also encourage. This guy has a truck load of potential to be something rather special:

    * good stances (just needs to complete them)

    * speed galore (tends to over do it)

    * raw power & enthusiasm

He looks fit, strong, keen, has good posture and is capable. All that one could ask for from an aspiring kata person.

A competent traditional Sensei would have those hips & that raw energy fixed soon enough.

  • Omg this guy is awesome he islyke ace!! he falls thoe haha i thought that bit was worse :D x

  • This is not strong- the noises every technique are trying to mask weakess. General stances are ok I've seen much worse. Have you tried relaxing when performing kata? Make each technique strong without all that foot stamping and heavy breathing. Least you have the guts to post a video

  • i think the same... take care of the gyaku tsukis and of th age ukes.. you are very fast so i think you can complete techniques and you want seem slow.. just relax :)

  • Well executed!

But I'd just reinforce the previous point, certain movements were incomplete. For example, the age uke to oi zuki kiai: complete the age uke with full kime and THEN step into oi zuki and kiai. This holds true for all techniques, even when perfomed at speed. The uchi uke/oi zuki combinations are the same.

Each and every technique must be finished before the next is performed.

Also, I've understood the final kiai is a drawn out , lasting about 3 seconds.

    Oss!

  • Movements not complete. No full extension on movements.

  • But still he shows emmense power and speed. But still he is no Shane Dorfman

  • @CaptainLeRoy158

I agree, the loss of balance isn't his only problem...

  • the beginning wasnt too good but the middle was great, good backstance into horse. My school emphasis on good pull back of the kicks in the beginning i dont know if thats useful to you.

  • This is very good.

  • i think is OK . practice more and you'll obtain what you want :) . to do jion correct :P
