  • Buddy and Gene, the drumming gods.

  • Chris Pasin playing the trumpet solo

  • It seems that many of todays drummers feel that they can't demonstrate good drumming unless they have two pedals going. The art of going around the drums using permutations seems to be becoming a dying art which I suspect is because double bass playing inclines one to play singles exclusively which can limit the creative range of a drummer.

  • Sharp and clever orchestra, great arrangement, awesome Buddy, as usual.

About metal: take off triggers, and let's see where they go

  • I love metal music (Lamb of God, Metallica, etc.) and i think their drummers are incredibly talented, but Buddy Rich is still the #1 drummer of all time!

  • Sterling, unparalleled musicianship on the kit.

  • Man he is just pure talent. Nobody could be this good even if they practiced their whole life.

  • I saw this band live--if you think they are awesome on this old scruffy video you can imagine what they sounded like live. Buddy Rich was an absolutely awesome presence driving the band--nothing I've ever heard in rock can compare.

  • Is that Don Hahn in the trumpet section? Looks like him.

  • i named my cat Buddy Rich, and my cat has an atitude....Buddy was one of the best ever...

  • Yeah Lehmann108 I noticed that too.

  • Buddy's playing in front of the beat causing them to all rush.

  • Nice clip

  • oh god.

    this is amazing.

the jazz ensemble im in is playing it.

i wish we were able to touch this.

  • my high school plays this...doesn't even come CLOSE

  • love the sax liks :)

  • buddy is the god on drumset... really. im play myself classical percussion und timpani but when i was younger i played drumset and i love this music up to now! i really hate it that all this non musical metal drummers and their fans think that they are the best... in reallity they are nothing..

  • agreed. people think that coz metal drummers can play straight double bass the whole song they are the best. buddy rich owns all those douche bags

  • You'll be interested to know that Buddy Rich himself used some double kick. Only a very few times, I've only been able to find one recording myself. Is he one of those douche bags?

  • @bleauh no because people don't think he is great because of that. maby if you would actually read what lachie 10's comment you would get it. Buddy was amazing, maby even the best ever, on drumset for so many other reasons. Metal drummers are thought of as good because they can preform the relitivly simple task of playing really fast.

  • @nickppp100 I'm aware of the misconception of speed=skill. I was addressing that he seemed to regard double bass with disdain, reading it now, some two months later, yeah I suppose I didn't read it properly.

  • @lachie10 I agree speed and technique without musicality is useless. Buddy, Jo Jones, Joe Morello did more with a conventional kit than any speed-master can do today. The older I get the more I appreciate the guys who had to play within the context of a 24 piece band.

  • the jazz is one of hard genre to play but is fantastic

  • i play this at jazz club. im on clarinet and i play the 4 bar solo near the end.yay!!!! i thnk all jazz people are talemnted

  • Buddy seems to have relaxed his ban on beards in the band at this time! This is one of my favourites, thanks for posting.

  • Is that Buddy Rich playin? No thats GOD, He just thinks he's Buddy Rich.

  • well said trevor...

  • awesome video! thanks a lot.

  • El más grande de los bateristas de todos los tiempos,Rich Live!!!!!Insuperable Maestro.
