@yanners0007 I would work on right hand fingering first alone, you will have to do a bunch of finger substitutions on p.2. Other than that its pretty straight forward. PS. Don't ignore the dotted noted length :P
my friend teachin me this song :) lolll sometimes we'll play together, he'll play left hand and ill play right hand or vise versa...its a beautiful song..one of me favs
@Lypur I find the piano lessons so helpful! However I just started and are now at lesson 7. I want to do accredited music theory. Do you perhaps know where I can sign up for this? In London?
@Lypur LOL! this feels like some kind of Gr.10 RCM reunion or something! I also played it for my Gr.10 and thinking of bringing it back sometime. Got a long list of pieces I want to do though :S Question for you: I just started recording my pieces. Do you find that YOUR recordings have a LESS dynamic contrast than what it is in real life?? It seems that way for me and its bothering me! I don't know if its my camera or if I'm imagining that I have better contrast in person
@TheRealDanielAbreu I feel that way too. Even on the little pieces, it doesn't feel like I can get as much emotion into when I'm being recorded, but if I do the playback doesn't reflect it. Very bizarre....
@crazypianolady i'm sure if i had an external mic and good recording program things would be different. The camera with built-in mic really isn't made for capturing all the nuances in a classical performance.
I am so glad I started to watch your videos, specially the Piano lessons. You have excellent talent. This encourages me to pay attention to your instructions in your lessons videos.
@Lypur Where did you get the solo score for this? I'd really appreciate it if you let everyone on here know because I think everyone agrees that it is a fantastic piece. Unfortunately we can't always have a partner to practice and play it with - makes it even more depressing perhaps.
Well, I wouldn't say it's super easy for your average player. It's rated RCM grade 10 ^_^ I think the hard part of the song would be The amount of dynamic control you need. ^_^
wow, beautiful, dark and sad at the same time. I usually think composers tend to go to far beyond recognition when they're venturing out in different tonalities like, with the twelwe tone method and such. But this composition demonstrates for me that these two can work very well together. Beautiful played by the way, the interpretation is of as much importance as the composition itself.
Beautiful! I've been wanting some sort of inspiriation for playing this piece because I've always never bothered to practice it xD, and you have given me some! How long did it take to perfect this piece? and memorize too?
Im learning Hanon techniques - very good exercises. Just hoping the clapping technique to get rhythm and keep tempo works got any suggestions on that?
wow, you played that whole piece from memory! and you play so well. I've been watching your "how-to" videos and am using them to learn to play...Thanks for putting them out here!

No, I meant it as a euphemism to mine, however you must have been moved by your performance as well, surely. Either way it was quiet an enjoyable piece, thank you.
this is one the best things ive ever seen on this website andrew your amazing and it is an honor to learn from you thank you soooooooooooooooo much!!!!!
I loved this. I play low brass instruments but I just have been wanting to learn to play the piano. I learned some things from your lesson videos. Thanks for the videos!!!

Wow, this is a pretty cool piece! I've never heard it before. I'm not an expert on piano and classical music, but I have to say it has got an interesting harmony. Hmm, maybe because it's a 20th century work, as you wrote. :)
You're a really good pianist. Your playing is so smooth and emotional. I've seen some of your lessons as well - they're cool too, but I actually can't understand everything correctly, cos I'm Polish. ;)
Beautiful! I'm slowly working my way through your great vids,I'm just a beginner but hopefully one day......:)Btw the new re-shot vids are so much better, thanks for taking the time and trouble its really appreciated. Keep up the good work
thanks! I'm happy to hear you appreciate the reshot lessons! They WERE quite a bit of work, but it was also a great feeling of accomplishment when it was all over with.
You are very talented for someone so young! I am a fellow pianist and it shouldn't always matter what emotion you evoke (to me). But bravo! You will go far with this talent.
I was wondering tho, if you've tried crossing your hands over for the wide appoggiaturas in measures 65 & 67. Specifically: the octave in the left, the broken 3rd in the right, then the 7th in the left again. The melody gets picked up by the right hand at that point, and using the pedal gives the left time to pick up the bass chord.
I watched this twice, it's just so beautiful. I was stunned by how fluent you were, I love arpeggios! Did you have the sheet music with you at the time?
wow you watched it twice? what a lovely compliment! Were you asking if i was playing this by memory? If you were yes, i played this without looking at the book, it was all memorized
grade 10 RCM but i found it pretty easy to play. it's slow but harmonically complex. like the ending scale isn't really a scale at all, it's F# major superimposed over top of e minor ^_^
Thanks for being the first to post the solo version on you tube! It is a extremely difficult piece to play. The big chords kill my hands. I love Anderson and Roe!
Well, if your ready to set it aside for a new one, you always open it up and hack it's mic, either completly bypassing it or soldering a simple jack for and external one ^_^
Btw, what camera do you use? Does it have an aux mic imput? You could try using a better external ambient mic for it, instead of buying a new expensive camera. Although good mics also expensive, but maybe not as much. If it doesn't have a mic plug, you can always hack it DIY style! ^_^
Goog song. And great playing too. Kind of reminds me of The Pianist movie (i think it's Bach he plays?), some kind of deep quietude-drama-sorrow-myst-feeling throught it all. Gratz Lypur-san x]

THAT WAAAS SOOO BEAUTIFUUUUL!!! I WANNA KNOW HOW TO PLAY IT TOOOO :D haha, omg.. thats sooooooo beautiful :D and you do it so calmly, usually when I just do my scales I'm all over the place .. my legs are crossed in a very strage way.. my one hand is in one end of the piano my other hand is on the other end.. and I'm sweating like a pig :D (sorry for the details, but I just can't do without them :D)..
I still have a lot to learn..
You keeep up the great work :) !!!!! And post more more vids!
hahaha, thanks for the vivid image there. I'm glad to hear you thought it was beautiful! Don't ever give up on your dreams and you'll be able to play the song one day in the future! ^_^
thanks! i"m so happy i"ve been getting so much positive feedback about this performance! Don"t worry i won"t stop the lessons! Thank you VERY much for your comment
thank you tink! I thought you forgot all about me, i never hear from you at all anymore :(...
yea! actually i rated it 4 stars wondering if it might catch your attention, yet it was still high enough that people would know your videos rock;) to be honest i feel a bit betrayed:P sure your popular and all now, but you don't forget old friends, or at least that"s my rule! It feels like you've been giving me the cold shoulder for a while now
i mean like, you haven"t even replied to my comments for a couple videos! Anyway though, thanks for taking the time to watch my video ^_^ glad you enjoyed it! I"m launching a website at the beginning of march with all my videos, it"s going to have flash, a bio, a forum!

The reason for the tinny sound in the notes is more likely your Yamaha piano than the camera. They are notorious for that timbre of sound...

well :) if you listen to my other songs (like the one autoplaying on my channel) you can hear a huge huge difference in the sound quality ;)

And post more more vids!

excellent. I'd give my left arm to play like that, but then without the arm, I'd have trouble playing like that.

yea! actually i rated it 4 stars wondering if it might catch your attention, yet it was still high enough that people would know your videos rock;) to be honest i feel a bit betrayed:P sure your popular and all now, but you don't forget old friends, or at least that"s my rule! It feels like you've been giving me the cold shoulder for a while now
