the trigger stick should be held at the back of the trap, not towards the top, this way the prey is at where the trap travels the least, meaning the trap will fall on them quicker instead of slower like in your case.
Not bad but I wouldn't have the rock angled up so much, takes too long to fall. Nor would I drive the upright into the ground, in case the rock falls on it and lodges upright.
it is in my opinion the best of the dead falls but no one ever mentions that you a flat rock as the base not just the mud....more effective at killing ..you don't want the animals to suffer or get free
One plus to a paiute is that it's safer to set cause your hands "should" be working out from under the dead fall (rock). Your dead fall is angled too high and your sticks are a little too short. Otherwise, great job!
a little tip, dont put ur hand under the trap and set your balance stick, ( most virtical one) at a harsher angle slanting towards the rock, so when the rock falls it doesnt land on the stick but just the animal. :) gd attempt
Good video. I prefer to set this rather than the figure four. You don't have to be as precise with your notches, it is more sensitive (in my opinion) and much easier to set (again my personal opinion).
Good Videos. A couple tips, you should make your horizontal sticks longer so they stick out more so the rock isn't right over the upright which can slow down the speed of the rock falling or can even land on it.
Another tip to be able to set the figure 4 or Paiute Deadfall easier is to use a Y stick for the upright.

That traps horse shit unless you get a big Rock. Way better of useing a pitfall or a snaretrap.

The tick on the grond is sopposed to be diagnol or slanted not straight in the ground.

if you drive the upright into the ground, it holds up the deadfall.
