  • What pissed me off so much with this movie was the trailer that had nothing to do with the actual movie, and the fact that the cover made it feel like these two were both going to challenge Kell at the same time. It has the quote "To save the world, some rules must be broke"

  • You know the Rules only one Immortal can challenge another ... Well yeah ... but Why dont they just shoot Kell then take his head .... Well Kell doesnt Play by the Rules why should they , if Kells such a Threat No harm in Breaking the Rules Just once ... :-D why not always thought this since i watched this movie

  • Conner should have been written out of the movie. Christopher Lambert had clearly aged and Conner was supposed to be 18 when he was made immortal. Not only that but compared to Adrian Paul, a sword expert, Lambert was crap with a sword. If Duncan had to "level up" before he challenged Kell, then it should have been Methos! He must have racked up enough quickenings in his 5000 year lifespan. Not only that but he even offered Duncan his head in the TV series.

  • @MrHighlanderfan ....another factor with Lambert was very bad eyesight in real life(far sighted) apparently this was the cause of some cuts while working with some of the stunt swordsmen on the first Hinglander film and probably why Lambert never really applied himself in his fight scenes

  • @TheVardiss22 I had heard about that. All the more reason to right Conner out of the script! Just have Kell as some rouge immortal, none of that vengence crap! Have Methos and Amanda team up with Duncan to fight Kell and his gang.

  • @MrHighlanderfan ......i agree...the tv series was great and deserved have more characters and storylines from it ....also if they do remake the Highlander film...i'd like to see Thomas Jane play Conner..

  • @TheVardiss22 I loved the series right up untill the end of season 5, with the demon (WTF!!!) and the death of Ritchie. I would have written the demon arc and season 6 out of continuity. At least then you could have Ritchie in the film!

  • I wonder if there is some symbolism in the quickening scenes. The array of lights and bolts maybe representing the victims' power. Kurgan's was a twister of monsters and energy, and Connor's was just happy memories and rays of sunshine. Andd the way Duncan absorbs it all suggests he emulates the victim, at least i thought so in the series. Here his arms are wide open trying to embrace it all like a 'true brother' as Connor called him.

  • wtf is up with Chris's hair in this movie?

  • "the torch" cliche, plus Connor IS THE CHOSEN ONE.

I'm actually working on a fanfic sequel to this that will fix this whole mess for those of us that want more Connor.

  • Fuck that shit, Connor could've taken Duncan at any time, his giving up the will to live was so OOC in comparison to the first and third movie (which are the only ones I consider canon anyway as none of it makes much sense).

I think Duncan is okay, but no one beats Lambert! I nearly walked out of the theater after this scene I was SO upset. however I can see the merits behind it, I just think it would've been a much better scene had Connor had to kill Duncan, it would've broken the "passing

  • Duncan > Connor, all day every day.

  • The best immortals fight ever

  • I personally think this big scene should have been prolonged just the total resistance of Duncan not wanting or being able to kill some body he's known for over 3 lifetimes ! Their confrontation should have been second to none a big part of the story / movie a big build up and kind of the whole point of the movie a huge build up to Duncan confronting his friend / brother / clans man theyve shared so much now theyve come to a massive crossroads in their destinies :)

  • Conner didn't die he just became lord Raiden : )

  • Love Highlander... But seriously folks,Highlander 2 n Highlander the Source,is crap...

I didnt saw Highlander the Raven but i will not see it because was canceled n i dont want to see a unfinished thing... Talking about the reboot, fuck reboot, the 80s film series n tv show is the best n Christopher Lambert n Adrian Paul cant be replaced...

  • Best movie ever!!!!!!!!

  • @mastermold2009

watch the series, ignore highlander 2 and 3

  • Connor Macleod was the original highlander, it should have been duncan that lost his head. The only thing good about this is that finally after so many centuries connor is finally reunited with heather. R.I.P. Connor Macleod of the clan Macleod

  • @Temujin91

Honestly while I really like Connor, he really was in only one good (and in my opinion great) movie, which needless to say was the first film. Duncan had a whole TV series behind him, but I guess it depends which medium you're more attached to. Personally, I thought it would be sad to see either go personally, but I do like the idea of Connor giving his life to allow his Duncan to live on and beat the villain. It is a heroic way to go, and as you said reunites him with Heather.

  • Was connor even trying to beat duncan?

  • @wildcats122448

i don't think so! i think he just gived up

  • y s est sacrfié jusqu au bout comme jesus christ

  • triste fin pour christophe lambert qui après a plus eu de carrière l autre y l a vraiment decapité deja pour son role a la télé ensuite dans le film

  • this fight was awesome.

  • Kurrgan would have wiped the floor with Kell

  • Duncan Macleod FTW!

  • I hope that JVC product placement was worth it!

  • I never liked this movie. If you're going to kill off Connor Macleod, then it should have been at least A LITTLE more epic than this.

For God's sake, this is CONNOR MACLEOD you're killing! Not some character from the series!

I don't know, it's not that I don't like Adrian Paul, but Connor is much more beloved by the fans.

I think the character of Connor deserved more. A lot more.

This scene felt very rushed and thrown together to me.

  • @Void304, plus Connor got totally dissed, skillwise, Ramirez was one of the most knowledgable of all immortals and all signs pointed to CONNOR BEING THE CHOSEN ONE. Yet the series and this movie utterly retcon'd it in an attempt ot make more money. I understand Christopher Lambert being so willing to punk his own character though. He apparantly was struggling with the fight scenes (not due to his inability to wield a sword or do physical stuff, he could easily have done the Donnie Yen-

  • Fight, even though he isn't a martial artist, like Stallone, Harrison Ford, Matt Damon and Adrian Paul he is capable of appearing far above his actual real life abilities. Being able to do a convincing fight with real martial artists. Not to mention he was trained by one of the greatest modern swordsman ever and the greatest in cinematic history (you can look his name up under the trivia for HIghlander and many other shows that had lots and lots of sword fights), anyway..I think it was

  • More because he didn't realize how good make-up (even today I think Christopher Lambert, if his eye-sight has been fixed and he is still physically okay- IE no back problems, etc.-could easily come back as Connor, they way they are able to de-age older action stars is incredible these days), that said, I'm honestly ready for a remake even though I don't care for most remakes. No Duncan, only Connor, Lambert as Ramriez or in a cameo is a MUST though.

  • @Void304, If you're interested I'm working on a Highlander fanfic that will play as a bridge between the 1st movie (which comes last in this continuity I'm working on) the 3rd movie (which comes in the middle-90s during Duncan and Connor's run), with Endgame being post 3rd, but actually being revamped as a prequel to the 1st movie. I believe that the INTENT behind Kurgan was for him tobe the deadliest. NOT Kell, or Mario's character.

  • @Void304, So in keeping with the original intent of the series. We will see Connor take a more Ramirez-esque roll towards Duncan, trying (in vain) to pass the torch to him as he struggles with depression and finding a will to live. However, unlike thism ovie where Connor was an emo little crybabytittymouth (:P), Duncan will sacrifice himself-knowing that Connor IS THE ONE and he hasn't had time to amass the skill to defeat Kell, let alone Kurgan (who will be pulling Kell's strings)

  • @Void304, It's sounding overly complex I know but in my head I have it all worked out, including Connor finding peace iwth his adopted son (that convieniently vanished in Endgame, Endgame was just a mess contiuinity-wise, well, everything since Highlander 1 has been, but if you consider Highlander 3 a prequel and Endgame a "what if" it makes it easier, lol) Again, my goal is to find a way to blend them all, but that means shifting events around so the intent of each character is honored

  • @mastermold2009 The series was good.

  • see connor knew duncon did not have the skills to kill the bad guy so he gave duncon his soul

  • FUCK DUNCAN. Conor forever.

  • the only reason that connor wanted to end it, was he didnt want duncon to go through all the pain.

but in the end he had no choice

  • @mastermold2009 Highlander the Search for Vengeance wasn't bad.

  • Highlander 2 and 3 was just plain wtf, Endgame was all right imo. First one was best of course.

  • TBH I dont even count this as part of the series like highlander 5

  • This quickening was brought to you by JVC.

  • @rafterscott they blurred that logo out on dvd because it was too bright

  • I grew up watching Highlander. so when Conner died I felt like I died too bc well Connor to me is the best.

  • This movie is the third worst I have ever seen.

  • @mastermold2009 The series was good, though I agree this movie should have handled things differently. But lets keep in mind the series is a different continuety from the movies. Taking that into mind, 4 was still a good movie (and damn Bruce Payne rocks in this movie).

They should have quit after 4.... then they came with spinoffs, and that godawful, worst-movie-ever-made, Highlander 5: The Source. Dear GOD did that movie suck on a hundred different levels of shittyness....

  • @michelrpg agree wholeheartedly. still this fight didn't piss me off.

  • @mastermold2009 This was a great movie the only highlander movies that have sucked was the second and 5th one

  • Never saw this movie, BUT... now... I sooo sooo want to. Duncan is awesome, Connor too. What's the name of this film?

  • Psh, Connor would have OWEND Dunacn. Stupid movie.

  • Connor was weak and broken due to imprisonment and loss, he is stronger and more skilled then Duncan. He was tired of eveything. That being said all Duncan has to do is CALL OUT: Connor MacLeod & he will return.

  • Should have been a much bigger quickening for Connor. As far as I'm concerned he was the one who won the prize.

  • 5:50; watch as continuity goes to hell

  • Endgame was the greatest of them all but I think Connor should have won...and Bruce Payne played the best badgut of them all!

  • @minoj2733 i liked endgame but i have to respectfully disagree with you clancy brown who played the kurgan in the first movie was the best highlander villian (:

  • Hmmmmm, not one single memory of Ramierez?

  • @lrb662003 They probably couldn't afford to pay Sean Connery for putting his scenes in there.

  • Comment removed

  • Question for english/american people: Is Christophe Lambert accent very strong ? Because a scottish man with a french accent should be weird...lol

  • @Eternalover78

He really seems to have almost no accent at all.

  • While I didn't see any of the Highlander movies, I have seen bits of Endgame, and this scene could've been so much more deep and emotional. Duncan and Connor, brother immortals who are faced with an unbeatable opponent unless one fights with the strength of two.. its just the set up for Connor's killing is weak.. as some people have said. Connor is a broken man at this point, and I understand his desire to help Duncan beat Kell before dying, but it wasn't executed that well. Also JVC... just, no

  • @mastermold2009 Come on, the series had some good moments.

  • Conner gave the best of himself to Duncan. In the end there no greater sacrifice then for a brother

  • I can understand product placement pays for film production costs, but that JVC sign is...just too much. "There can be only one" shot allowed for it!!!

  • @TachieBillano It was removed in the final cut, it's just blurred out. The director thought it was too distracting too.

  • connor was is and will always be THE highlander THE one not duncan

  • Connor should have won, did Duncan take on Kurgan? Nope, what he did wa sjust kill some generic evil immortal on a weekly basis for 6 season, whoopee.

  • This THEORETICALLY would be a really powerful and awesome concept if it had been done properly.

  • @mastermold2009 Ah, come on. The series was pretty good, all in all. But all of the movies after the first one have been severely lacking.

  • Connor let Duncan kill him.

  • At 4:59 what is the song in the background? I love it.

  • Connor's quickening was weak, that whole building should've burst in flames

  • @DrBananaKing7000 the whole city should of burst into flames

  • This scene makes no sense in the grand sceme of the story

  • How can 4 ppl not like this scene, they obviously would not make it to be the last one.

  • @orochikaiba There are several major reasons people don't like this scene. Firstly, they kill off the original hero of the series in a pretty disrespectful way, arguably de-railing his character into a death-seeker who gets offed by Duncan, rather than going down swinging against the Big Bad. Second, their reason for fighting is not consistent with the rest of the film. Kell breaks the Immortal rules with no consequences or explanation, yet Connor and Duncan never consider doing so themselves.

  • @TKA001

I honestly wouldn't mind this scene if not for the fact that Kell is seen breaking the rules all he wants. If they kept that in line than I think this would have been fine, and a noble sacrifice to allow his clansman/brother defeat the villain. (Not to mention that by technicality he was Duncan's mentor, and we all know how mentors turn out in these kinds of stories). I always respect heroic sacrifices But as is,it does not make much sense for them not to try and take Kell together

  • @mastermold2009 The 2nd one confused the hell outta me lol

  • @orochikaiba

Thank God they retconned it. Would've been a fine B grade sci-fi movie if they'd've left Highlander out of it. They jokingly said they were going to call the third "Highlander 3: The Apology"

  • Is that a double for Lambert during some of this fight?

  • @tjcoffey ya

  • @tjcoffey yup. the last few shots of connor fighting, when he has his back to the screen.

  • Here's a question that I would love an answer!!! Is that the sword Ramirez gave to Connor 400 years ago?????

  • @johnmik67

well, since the kugan took rumiraz head. the sword was left there so conner took it.

  • You know, as much as the sequals suck, Lambert and Connery are still awsome!!!

  • I love Lamberts voice but goddamn he looking old in this.

  • someone would tell me PLEASE , what is the name of this beautiful song ? at the end (when duncan decapitates connor) .

  • Don't you just love how the most emotional scene in the film is punctuated by the symbol of a giant consumer electronics conglomerate? Fuck you Engame, Fuck all the Highlander sequels!

  • @BisbalsBeauty I fucking HATE the Source, it's so much worse than the Quickening, and that's the prototypical bad fucking movie, and it's not even the worst in the series! The Source probably did worse things to my childhood memories than the Phantom Fucking Menace!

  • Connor had the years and quickenings, but I think he was ready for it to end. He'd seen too much and lived too much. He was tired of the game.

  • Duncan was a badass but there is no way. Connor had 80years on Duncan and had way more quickenings.

  • @TheTrillz Conner always stayed in the game and let the immortals come to him, duncan stayed out of the game for a 100 years!

  • I also think the Quickening, upon death of an opponent, should be less visual and more spiritual, not a huge flag to mortals saying look over here! It should be an absorbtion of memories, skills and power, with a small visual effect maybe but not thunder and lightning. I love the effects but take it in a new direction. Quickening can be like crack, they have to get it, and each one feels better than the last, and their personalities become more complex.

  • There should be no alliances among immortals, no fiendships, no cousins. They dont meet or have parties, they are compelled to fight when they sense each other. They are careful not to be seen, and they can flee if they need to but only to choose a better place. Also they become immortal when at a certain age, regardless of skill, and must then seek skill to stay alive. This way there are no child or elderly immortals. There should also be no women, women can have kids and immortals cannot.

  • That way a movie can talk about Connor, another about the Kurgan, and deal with those individuals from birth to present day and show some of the major and minor kills they made and how those kills changed their skill and outlook, they evolve with each absorbed enemy. Build up to these primary immortals facing each other as the are drawn to a place, but you dont have to show or verify the Prize ever being won, leave it open. Are there more? How many? No one knows not even them.

  • A new movie should not be about a single immortal, no "highlander", it should be about men who at a certain age stop aging and feel a pull to combat. A victory gains them memories, energy and vitality. They also feel the rules of engagement, no sacred ground, and a need to use edged weapons. Dont explain why, its moot, they just ARE. Every movie can focus on 1 primary immortal and other secondaries. They know they each NEED to be the LAST ONE but they cannot say why. They are driven by instinct.

  • To everyone who says Duncan is stronger than Connor. Remember The Kurgan? The guy who was the strongest of all immortals yet Connor kicked his 7 foot ass. Lets see Duncan go up agaisnt good ol Kurgan and then we'll talk.

  • Abomination.

  • Do they both have Ramierez's katana? I never saw the show but how do they have the same exact sword? I understand Connor because he took it from Rameriez but I don't think Duncan ever met him, I mean Rameriez's sword was one of a kind so how can there be two?

  • @starkiller20293 Connor got Rameriez sword after he lost to the russain. Duncan received he's sword when he went to japan during the 17 or 18 century. I think?

  • @kryton73080 That makes sense thanks! The swords look alike

  • i dont get how any of this could happen when he wins in the very 1st movie

  • @yohb7 The idea was, at least in my opinion, that the first movie(s) are in an alternate dimension from the series. So, the events of the movies happened (see "The Watchers" from Season 2 episode 1) where they do mention the first movies end, but it's treated as another fight. But the movie itself, it was the final battle. If that makes sense.

  • @joshw2005 you mean the first movie duncan does not exist and conner is the only winner cause i like the 1st movie alot and i never watched the series

  • @yohb7 Maybe. Think of it as two timelines. In one timeline (Movies), Conner becomes the last immortal, defeating Kurrgan in 1985. Duncan lost a fight somehwere, so he wasn't around for the final battle.. The other timeline (series), Conners battle with Kurrgan was just another fight, Duncan lived and there were more immortals around. In this timeline, where Endgame takes place, Duncan defeats Conner, and continues to fight to the end.

  • @joshw2005 the movie timeline is better aint it

  • @yohb7 The movie timeline's so screwed up it's not funny. Highlander 2 was a mess, Highlander 3 tried to fix it with a reboot, but didn't work. This movie and The Source don't count since they're based on the show, but The Source is a debatable one, since the movie itselfcould be a third timeline. But that's my theory.

  • @joshw2005 yes but 2 and 3 are also diffrent timelines i mean the timeline in the 1st movie is the best

  • @yohb7 Well, 2 is in the same timeline as 1. 3 was an attempt at a reboot, so it could be considered a 3rd timeline. So, what we have is this: The first 2 movies are together in one timeline. The series and Endgame are in a second timeline. The thrid movie is a 3rd timeline. And my theory is The Source (ake the 5th movie) is a split timeline to the series. Think Back to the Future 2's alternate 1985.

  • @joshw2005 2 is not the same timeline as 1 because conner is not from space i find the 2nd film pathetic and stupid it has nothing to do with highlander its about aliens in space and trust me that does not happen after the1st film to me highlander 2 is the alternatw 1985 from back to the future 2

  • at 3:37 adrian pauls sword skills are insane

  • A lot of people come down on Connor's Quickening. Personally, it's one of my favorite and I think it's very appropriate. The flashing images of his past and bagpipes are a good trade off for a ton of explosions that would have overshadowed Kell's at the end.

  • this movie was alright as they passed on the torch but so many loops holes, Connor based on the end of highlander 3 should have teh power of illusion still, but dont know... still awesome.

  • conner should have never died..and since he did..connor should have made a cameo in highlander: the source allowing duncan to have the true power...

  • good swordplay, starwars could have used choreography like this

  • Connor was a broken man in this movie due to the death of his adoptive daughter. The Tenth Doctor of Doc Who fame put having immortality in a meaningful quote "In the end you just get tired. Tired of the struggle. Tried of losing everyone that matters to you. Tired of watching everything turn to dust." Connor was tired, and he knew if he didn't die "at Duncan's blade" he would have to watch Duncan die at the blade of Kell. That would have broken him even more and Kell would have won.

  • I love this movie Adrian Paul is soo sexy haha!! x

    Love the soundtrack too!!

  • With 262 confirmed kills I thought Connor would have a more epic quickening.

  • ...why Connor is so rude?!?!...

  • I don't know what you all are thnking that actually think Duncan "won" that fight??? At 3:35-3:45 Connor slices the air all the damned way around Duncan before Duncan ever touches him!!! He already said it had to be Duncan. The whole movie is BS though, Connors heart is why he always won no matter how strong the oponent. He would never let the man that killed his mother, his second wife, and his Child!!! Are you serious? That fight would have been the other way around at the graveyard!

  • i like connor better than duncan

  • At Least this way, Duncan and Connor are always together!

  • The first Highlander movie is the only Higlander movie...

  • who else felt like crying the first time they say this

  • @vorpalfucker666 me tbh

  • I pose this question then, what would you all say about when Duncan had the upperhand over Connor during the Highlander series, the short cameo Connor had?

  • @orochikaiba simple. its in the script.

  • @orochikaiba connor was always stronger than duncan and he was older too..

  • @orochikaiba i pose this question, who had won the prize not once, not twice, but three times!?

  • @BrotherhoodOfTheDead That's what he thought, but not what happened.

  • I think Connor lost because:

-His spirit was broken and his heart wasn't in it anymore. Centuries of heartache, pain, and killing. He's had a more tragic life than Duncan.

-He held back. Connor is too smart, too technical, and too skilled to get beat by Duncan. Duncan is a bad ass warrior, but Connor was his mentor and has century of experience ahead of Duncan(not to mention the Quickening)

1986 Connor vs 2000 Dunan or 1992-1997 Duncan: Connor wins.

  • @WolBarret Exactly Connor could have easily beaten Duncan but he was tired.

  • It should have been Duncan who died :'(

  • 4:57

  • 3:05 3:08

  • This is the greatest act of treason committed upon a Sci Fi legend ever....

  • JVC

  • This is the sadest and rememberable scene. The first time I saw it, I began to wonder and you start to think about, how important a real friendship is. Top Vote.

  • Connor, the one strong enough to sacrifice.

  • Conner could have easily beaten kill. But by this point in his life he was a beaten man spiritually. After his adopted daughter Rachel was killed the fire left him and he just wanted it to end and have some peace. Duncan on the other hand would gain knowledge and power from Connor's Quickening, and a fierce determination to kick Jacob Kells ass!

  • The JVC sign in the backround killed everything for me!!!!

  • @posspass Lmbooooooooo

  • @posspass There can be only one: The JVC sign!

  • the first highlander movie is the only one

  • the first highlander is the only highlandermovie in my mind

  • He DEFINETLY should've had a longer quickening with an awesome lightning show! His quickeneing was almost laughable. Yeah, the sky opened up but that was it!

  • Conor lost his will to live he could of bested Duncan we all know this he wanted to die

  • well they're reseting the series now so... yeah, it's too bad where this franchise went..It had so much more potential...hopefully they do it justice this time around (keep the fucking aliens and shit out)

  • @jesserai restarting as in remake or re-releasing

  • remake slated for this year

  • @jesserai Whose playing who?

  • @jesserai where can I look up the origins of this story to read?

  • I agree with there is no way that Kell's Quickenings could have compared with some of the heads that Duncan took. Kronos alone should have given him enough power to beat Kell. Also The entire idea of The Sanctuary was BS. Killing off Connor was a plot point and only done because Lambert was too old. However I do believe that Duncan evolved to the better of the two. He was by far the better fighter and enjoyed life where as Connor just got by. Still better then The Source though. thats like HL2.

  • Connor quicking is too quick...with all the knowledge he posses, it should had been longer.

  • I'm a fan of the fist film and the series, and I think the idea that Duncan couldn't take Kell because of of the around 480 something head count difference. I would think that several of the opponents he faced in the series had almost equally high head counts to Kell. Also it would seem that Kell had a habit of choosing younger immortals as his gang and then kill them, so I don't see how he could be as powerful as say like Kronos from the series. In the end, this movie was only so-so at best.

  • Yeah, I had a hard time buying Kell's 600+ head count, even if it was younger gullible immortals. Like you said, the cumulative strength of Duncan's quickenings should have well exceeded Kell's. It was just a cheap plot device to kill off Connor.

My other huge problem with Endgame was how it took all the rules, took a huge dump on them, and threw them out the window by establishing them as completely meaningless.

  • I don't think Connor let him win....3:47 Duncan had him beat...he just refused to kill him

  • Nice battle, sad scene...

  • Anyone else notice that they both have the Dragon Katana. which is impossible because only one exists. It was used by Ramirez in the first one, and connor got it. Then it continued to be part of Connor's through all the movies. I'm glad that in highlander 5 Duncan had it, and I'm kind of upset they didn't keep it as the weapon that beats the Guardian. Sad part. R.I.P Connor MacLeod.

  • actually there are two dragon head katana, one made by Ramirez' father-in-law the other by Duncans' samurai master. Connors sword is about four thousand years old and Duncans is about 300 maybe 350

  • @hadamday64 Ramirez had a Lion head Katana

  • at the ends they are different
