Very SELES like with the power and the angles. The trouble with being two handed each side is you need to be super fit to cover the court with the limited reach.
...Had it not been of that tragic day in 1993, Seles would have won at least 15 Grand Slams, Graf a lot less and who knows Hingis might have been a 1 or 2 slam wonder.
One last thing : Seles hit a lot harder than Marion but with more spin. Marion balls are mostly flat, and they travel the court differently. I adored Monica, still do of course, and I like Marion a lot but maybe thats because I miss Monica so much :(
I really like Marion but let's be real guys, Seles was way more dominant. Seles was able to create sick angles anywhere on the court and even though Seles was out of shape after the stabbing, she was way faster than Marion. Just like Marion, Seles LOOKED slow on certain shots but not because of her footwork but because of her reach, using two hands on both sides. In that sense, again and just like Marion, Seles was a lot fitter than we gave her credit for....
The difference between Bartoli and Seles s their intensity and their fitness. Seles wasn't exactly the fittest player on tour, but she was a great mover. It's almost a joke how out of shape Bartoli is, and once she's in the defense, she's pretty much lost the point. Seles was the ultimate competitor...she fought hard for every point, and she suffocated you with a relentless barrage of strokes. Bartoli is intense, but she tires too easily, can't move, and incapable of creating sharp angles.
as much i would like 2 believe that i dont think it would be especially after marion's victory over venus, monica at her best would definetely beat marion though =P
Heh. Even her grunt is like Monica. Sure, she's not as good as Monica but when Bartoli is on I enjoy watching her game and it's nice to watch a player who has her own style.
Also enjoy watching Jankovic's movement and bh. That said, it does seem as if Bartoli might have her number...
I think Bartoli is getting very good now though, she's been in the top 20 for quite a while. I think she could be as good as Seles if she kept her fitness high and was more consistent.
Bartoli is not quick enough to play both hands on both sides. Only Monica could get away with it(when she was #1 and fit) and Monica hit the ball twice as hard as well
Well clearly she is because she owned Jankovic in this match (before losing the final to Venus) and she just owned Jankovic again in the 4th round of the Australian Open 2009 6-1, 6-4 so what's your point?
When she connects she can beat anybody, she beat Jankovic 6-1, 6-4 at the Australian. I agree though if she was faster she would be more consistent in the top 10.
The motion is not really the same. Bartoli's shots are flatter than Seles whose shots had more spin. Bartoli's shots are more effective on quick surfaces while Seles' were at their best on clay or rebound ace. The Seles serve was way superior though.
c'est parfait.......WE get it!!!!!!

Ok I can't help it, one last thing : Seles was also a lot stronger mentally, obviously.

It would be interesting for Marion Bartoli to play Monica Seles in an exhibition match. I think the score would be 7-5 7-5 in favor of Seles.

Jankovic was so cute when she said "please..." waiting for the challenge result. But Bartoli, wow, what a tournament that was for her.
