I agree with and support the need for a strong Israel able to defend itself but I disagree with her when she says that Israel has never been an expansionist power. Didn't Israel invade Lebanon in 1982, initially in response to Palestinian attacks, and lay siege to its capital of Beirut for months in order to alter the political structure of the country so it could install its own man as president. That is a serious blight on Israel's record of only starting wars for its own self defense.

Reminds me of probably the best argument in favor of America's (and some allies) invasion of Iraq: to transform a country, located in the middle of that toxic brew, into a nation of tolerance, human rights, and democracy. And yet, Israel already is that, and is highly successful and powerful too.
