@missingeasthigh a ceili or ceildh is a scottish or irish tradition where lots of people get together and do traditional dances that have been taught to us since primary/elementry school. and even if you don't know the man/woman you will ask them to dance because eveyone knows the dances. Its a great night out and so much fun but you flung round, its incredibly energetic, and you inevitibly wake up with bruises.

@Zajenforte Hi, I don't know if anyone actually replied to you. But I'll tell you anyway. A ceili is an old Irish version of a dance or disco. At these there would be traditional Irish music played (such as this and other melodies) and lots of Irish dancing. They would have been held on specific nights/evenings in each community or county. Not many still occur now because Ireland has moved on with the modern times, music etc but some are still held just for somthing different and fun :)

@1313hahaha I went to one up in Nova Scotia. Second most fun I've ever had. It was awesome and it was a Scottish one so there was bagpipes but they played so beautifully and usually I hate them. The people were amazing, I met the singers, got a CD signed etc If you ever get a chance make sure you attend one!

@kwalli1999. Both Meav and Orla left years ago to work on solo performing careers, so that is old news. However, the group isn't even remotely "horrible" at all now. They are still at the top of their game, as I got to experience last week. In fact, the version I heard live in-concert with the new member Lisa Lambe was spectacular and a lot of fun to watch live (lots of playful harassment of the band members by the girls).
