Hey, my name is brandon and i have the same phone as that. the E71x. I went to the beach and I tripped on some rocks and fell in the water with my phone in my pocket. I looked up my phone and it's under warranty. THANK GOD!. But, I heard that ATT doesn't cover water damaged phones. I also heard that ATT opens up the battery cover, takes out the battery and sees a sticker? can you pleaase tell me if the sticker is white, im safe? wat color was it when you saw it?

the sticker is a white circle under the battery. if it gets wet it turns pink. next time don't play around water with expensive electronics in your pocket. by the way the phone works with a 16GB micro sd.

I've seen some videos on the original e71 and I was curious whether or not the center button has a light around it that blinks when it is in stand by mode. If it does can you use this to make it blink for a text notification or email notification. Does this phone have PUSH messaging?

yes, there is a notification light that blinks for various events. there are various email options available, Exchange, & att Xpress mail are built in. I recommend Nokia Messaging for personal email accounts.

Please address using the E71x w/o a data plan. Specifically using this phone on Wifi for emailing, email set up using only wifi. Also, is the gps function usable with Garmin mobile XP software or Nokia maps w/o the AT&T data plan and the AT&T pay aGPS option?

AT&T always charges for their gps function. I believe it's 10 bucks a month. there are other programs you can use such as 3rd party if you have a data plan (recommended) but in the end you get what you pay for...or don't

if you want to do email over wifi, you'll have to wait until you are connected to wifi, and then send/retrieve your messages. Make sure you edit your email settings accordingly. I havn't looked into the alternative GPS options

Thanks. Got it working now. But there was nothing about this in the e71x User Guide, or even various support sites that have sprung up on the e71 and e71x, so I had no idea how to do it.

If you're aware of how to get other missing functionality that AT&T removed for the e71x version of the phone, I'd very much appreciate your mentioning that as well.
