i have it and i like much better than nissan quest or toyota sienna, those of u that have chrysler town and country or dodge grand caravans those cars are CRAPPY!!!!!!!!!!
I have the 2011 Honda Odyssey EX and Love the refinements since my 2007 model. And set the Cruise Control at 68mph on the Highway and get 30mpg!!!
BUT, and a Really BIG, which you will all discover soon... is that Honda did NOT RESOLVE the Front Brakes Issue that has plagued this Heavy little Van!
I am on the Road all day every day, and as a result, have 34,000 miles on my 2011 that I purchased 4-1/2 months ago. Continued…
My 2011 Odyssey is going in for it's third, Front-Brake Job! .... The Front Rotors were replaced at 11,800 miles, then the new ones were turned at 23,500 miles, and now, at 34,000 miles, the Front Brake Rotors and Pads will be replaced.
And... and... the Front Struts have gone bad. I have owned a lot of new cars in my Life, continued…
but never, ever had to do any kind of brake work on any of them, before 50,000 miles... let alone THREE BRAKE JOBS in 34,000 Miles!
So, BE WARNED... if you feel any amount of "shimmy" or "vibration" out of your front-end when you brake... especially when you first start to brake at highway speeds, then immediately take it your Dealer. The warranty on Brakes is only the first 12,000 miles, but you can probably get service after this since it has now become a widely-known issue!
@SOLDERBOY69 ... Seriously Solderboy69 (is that supposed to be Soldierboy and you just cannot spell ?) LOL Just FYI, Honda has had an ongoing (and documented) issue with the front brake rotors for several years now. who's the Moron now?
I never understood why a kid hauling minivan needed leather seats. Kids are MESSY and accident prone. They just rip the leather up along with everything else.
Also, this van is HIDEOUS. It looks as if they welded a completely different car in the rear. The previous gen Odyssey was sexy. What has happened to Hondas styling????
I've always like the Odyssey, but this is the first model that's simply UGLY! I test drove both Sienna and Odyssey vans, and while the Honda had a nicer firmer ride, I went with the Sienna simply because you get more features and value for the money. Sienna LE 8-passenger $26K out the door.
Hey Dave Thomas. I really like your hamburgers. Can I have a job at one of your fancy fast food places? I work kinda sorta hard. I'll promis not to pick my nose while serving food. Ok, I can't really promise that. I'll try my best not to pick my nose.
Damn $44k for a vehicle where snot nosed kids are gonna spill their drinks and drop food all over the place. Then get carsick and throw up all over those high quality materials.
Holy crap this van is too sexy!! Omg this puts the second gen to shame. Damnnn. I agree with xoquixxoqafxo that this van is way better than the sienna. Better quality and IMO Acura is better than Lexus now, and I love Lexus.
Reliability data shows that those generations are not prone to trans failure, but not every vehicle is perfect, so maybe they just had lemons or the car was abused? I drive an 01 Accord and its one of the cars prone to failure yet mine has been perfect and is original at 120k
@xoquixxoqafxo my 01 civic lx went 138k miles before the tranny went dead, i replaced the tranny and gave it to my younger sis and i have my fingers crossed. i later found out online my car was prone to that problem. i'm surprised Honda did recall them. i'll still buy a honda over some models, i hope they fix the brake system of the current gen accord
@LTF85199 We did review all trim levels...in our written review of the new Odyssey.
It is much harder to get multiple versions for a video. Plus, features like the seating and engine/performance are available on the other trims as well.
@Carscom No they aren't, only the touring models get the high mpg and performance of a 6 speed auto and 18" rolling stock. Did you test the EX-L and lower models with the 5 speed and 17's?
@dusty179 if you read my review you'll see that I thought the performance between the two different powertrains was almost unnoticeable. You'd be hard to tell the two apart if someone didn't tell you what you were driving. It's not the same as moving from a four cylinder to a V-6 or even something like an Acura TL and Acura TL SH-AWD, if we stay in the family.
@nilesh2104 They aren't dull plastic black like you see on some base models of other vehicles. They are shiny black with integrated turn signals and believe it or not aerodynamic strakes that help (not sure how much) with fuel efficiency.
@xoquixxoqafxo Other, lower trims do have body colored mirrors. This top trim tried something different as I mentioned in another reply. They are not black plastic, but a shiny black paint with integrated turn signals.
Actually, no every Odyssey has black mirrors, either black plastic on LX-EX-L or this shiny painted black with turn signals on Touring models. Just build one on Honda's website and no trim has body colored mirrors. I didn't say in my first comment that they were black plastic, I said "even tho its painted, it just doesn't look right" I just want Honda to make the mirrors match the paint color for 2012.
Even tho this van is pricey, at least the interior looks like $44k, The top trim Siennas can hit 46k but the interior looks like it belongs in a Corolla or Yaris.
@xoquixxoqafxo What? You can get an XLE with Nav and DVD player for around $39k. And it is touch screen nav. The Nav in this one looks so far away. If you take out the middle seat in the 2nd row, there is nowhere to store it in this Honday. THe SIenna has a storage place for it.. SIenna > Odyssey
For $39 grand for an XLE I'd rather spend the extra $2 grand for a touring Odyssey, like i said at least the Honda's cabin looks rich and is well made with high quality materials, unlike the fisher price plastics and crappy fit and finish in the Sienna's cabin. You also can't beat the 19/28 in the Honda vs the Toyota's 18/24 MPG ratings. I was talking about a Limited Trim sienna which tops out at 46 grand or 2 grand more than a touring elite odyssey. Honda > Toyota :P
i dunno.. to me, it looks like the front half of the van was assembled by group a, and back half, by group b..and they never talked or communicated with one another.. and one day.. got together, and put the 2 halves together.. this is just odd.. i'm sorry.
@mellowdalyricist ... I've always wondered why car makers provide so many and large TV screens for the back passengers, what better time to catch up or talk to your kids when they're stuck in a car with you !!! and why is the 'sync' system always is a computerized woman voice ???
