  • For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God. 1Cor 1:18

  • Someone who says that we should get rid of the cross, that we don't need it, is not a brother in Christ. He is a brother in Adam and Eve, you could say, but he is an enemy of Jesus Christ and not a child born from above at all.

  • He is a wolf, working towards the world religion that the Bible calls the "whore of Babylon." The dominionists even want to sit, you could say, on the Seven Mountains of Culture. If they believed Jesus or the Bible, would they call it that? More likely, they call it that to desensitize us to what they truly embrace. They are not believers, they are leading people astray. Perilous time have come, and we are told to look up, for our redemption draws nigh.

  • See, McLaren, who is not a believer, shows that the agenda of Emerging is to get rid of belief in Christ. Wolf among the sheep is right, and Emerging is not alone in woeking toward a world religion by pretending faith in Jesus, then actively working against faith in Him, directing people toward the "whore." The dominionists even boast about "taking back" the 7 Mountains of Culture. They want to sit on seven mountains; incredible, sad, but true. Perilous times will come.

  • can any of you tell the difference between believing in Jesus and believing in religious doctrine? you are so doctrinally oriented that you misunderstand and malign a brother in Christ. you really have some praying to do.

  • One more wolf among the sheep! Doesn't anyone ever stop to think Why, why, why isn't the way God set it up good enough for modern man! One of the first clues to something being a heresy is "has it been taught throughout church history?" If not, what makes people think the church had it wrong for over 2,000 years and all of a sudden WHAM! God let's the truth be told? Do you see how deceptive that is???????????

  • This is so sad and so wrong...he dosent know God..if there is no hell than there is no sin...but know better..we need to pray that this men needs to ask God to forgive befor its to late for them..its makes me sick noone should take way from Gods word or add.look everyone dont fall for this!jesus is the only way to the father.

  • 7 in 10 go to hell

  • Romans 16:17-18 (New International Version) 17I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

  • B.M. is plain and simple about his beliefs; there is no hell, the cross isn't that important, Jesus is just another enlightened teacher who did good but nothing special others haven't done, and we shouldn't disagree with those who have other God's so we don't seem like elitists. Now have some kool-aid my friends

  • These men are both lost preaching a different Jesus, anathema. Even so come Lord Jesus!

  • What a mess. So sad.

  • From reading the list of comments it is clear that fans or followers of Mc Laren will make all the comments they can to make those who speak against Mc Laren appear as unloving and judgmental as possible. However it is also very clear that Mc Laren is not a Christian and clearly deceiving followers into believing some social gospel (Socia-Communism) of Christianity thereby assisting in their damnation.

  • The whole point of the Gospel is that God the Father did not forgive his Son upon the cross, but poured out his just wrath against sin upon Christ - "cursed is everyone who is hung upon a tree" - Gal. 3:13.

Christ's agonizing and humiliating death upon the cross was a sin offering, a propitiation that saves us from God's judgment against sin.

"In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." Heb 9:22

  • Hi, Leif again (the interviewer). I was thinking some of you might like to see the paper I wrote that brought me into re-thinking these issues and eventually to talking with Brian Mclaren. If so, you can find it by searching Google for the words 'leif, finalforum and dialogue'. Go to the word doc link that says "The Dialogue". I hope you will find the paper honest, fair and as biblical as one can be. Please also remember that there are 30,000 denominations claiming ot be 'biblical'.

  • Brian McLaren = modern day prophet.

May God continue to speak with him and others like him.

  • The interviewer says that Paul never once mentions that Jesus was the Son of God. Romans 1: 1-4 -

"Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God - the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord."

  • who is this Leif Hanson? he doesn't sound like a very good journalist...

  • The fact that he believes Martin Luther and Gandhi are on the same level as Jesus and that the cross is a "distraction and false advertising for God" is heretical and completely opposite of what the Bible teaches...it disappoints me that people believe anything this guys says.

  • Actually he doesn't say he believes either of those things. He says that many peoples' understanding of the doctrine of hell is at odds with Jesus' words about the cross to the extent that the cross is like false advertising for *their* whole conception of things. Re: Martin Luther/Gandhi, their "equality" with Jesus seems to be what this Leif Hansen guy believes; Brian seems to be challenging that a bit, but doesn't really get around to what he believes about it (which is a shame).

  • Sorry, I should also say: I'm not posting primarily to defend Brian's teaching or opinions per se, I just don't like seeing anyone's words misinterpreted, regardless of their beliefs. I hope that helps all of us on our own journeys towards the truth.

  • The Cross DID show that God's Kingdom comes differently than those of men. God does not return violence with violence, evil with evil, etc. The Bible uses language that people know in order to foretell the coming triumph of God's Kingdom, in which selfishness, violence, and evil are overcome once and for all in the ocean of God's love and mercy.

As for saying that Jesus is only one among many, that I absolutely oppose. Gandhi and King were great men, but Jesus alone is God.

    God Bless

  • McLaren does not say that Jesus is only one among many, he merely summarises the interviewer's point and then disagrees with it ("what you're reacting to is not the uniqueness of Jesus, it's how that uniqueness gets used...").

  • I don't know a whole lot about the emergent church. From what I'm listening to, though, I will say that I agree with McLaren in one respect. I believe in hell, and I believe it's eternal; I am a Catholic, so I would be a heretic to believe otherwise. But he is right, hell is not what people say it is. We shouldn't read Scripture too literally. The absolute and unfathomable horror of hell has to do with the sinner's self-seclusion from God.

  • How can I verify that this is indeed McLaren speaking?

    Austin

  • You are kidding, right? I do NOT post false videos. Go to the website for Purple Podcast and search for it. It's verifiable enough if you doubt so much, look for it. I've seen it all now.

  • Brian is an agent of satan, He proclaims an other gospel, he will be in hell and then he will believe in it.

  • Calling McLaren a heretic is much too kind. This man's theology is as evil as Satan's lie in the garden.

    Through His Blood,

    Jim

  • This is so disturbing.

How can anyone who understands the true message of the cross think that what McLaren brings to the table is anything but heresy.

He is absolutely a false teacher.

Thank you for all your hard work.

    Blessings

  • Thank you for your encouragement. I agree, how can anyone think that this is not heresy. Believe me from the comments and messages I get, a lot of people believe this man's words...over God's own Word. There are so many that are totally deceived and want to stay that way.

God bless you and once again, thank you!

    Karen
