I like Joel Osteen's show. He is very uplifting. He is allowed to believe what he wants. I haven't heard him hate on anyone on his show. I am not a super religious person but I do like his approach to motivating and giving hope to people.

@Rylucero That's not through vain repetition, its through speaking God's word over your life Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Life and death is in the power of the tongue. One thing God has taught me is to speak his word over my life and what he says about me instead of believing what the world and enemy is telling me. Spiritual things must be spiritually discerned. You have to take things in it's context and with the right heart.
Joel Osteen makes my blood boil. Yes, were suppose to treat others with kindness and love, but God specifically says that homosexuality is a sin. Sounds like he is trying to avoid saying that on TV. I think he wants everyone to like him, so he will say what people want to hear.

These really are the last days, aren't they, when a preacher of one of the biggest "churches" in america wont call sin a sin?! This "hip, feelgood, everybody is a winner" christianity is not the way to heaven through Christ. The bible says in the last days, christians will be persecuted for thier belief in Christ. It really seems like Joel wants to skip that part. IMO Take a stand already! If you aren't being persecuted for your belief in christ, your brand of christianity may be watered down!!

I like a lot of the things he says in his messages. He is very out of touch on this matter though. I know in my heart that homosexuals are loved by God and created in Gods image too. Joel Osteen is qualified to preach to the itching ears of this world, however, he is not qualified to preach the Gospel of the GOD of the Bible. Jesus was not accepting of sinners as they were. JESUS's mission statement is noted in Luke 5:31-32 "They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Repentance means change. JESUS considered the sinner to be "sick". JESUS was inclusive to those that would repent or change.

I'm not a big Joelsteen fan. I understand that he does not want to hurt feelings but to say that homosexuality is "not God's best" is like saying that murder is not God's best. Sin is sin. bu judging this man your only being judged in return. he does talk about stories from the bible, and he does quote scriptures. at the end of EVERY service, he leads people to jesus they stand up if they want to, they pray a prayer, repenting and asking for forgiveness and they are forgiven. his messages arent anything new, his first message was just like this after his dad died and decided to pastor the church. my dad was there and when joel started preaching nobody ever talked like this.
I used to be bi sexual and i am here to say that since GOD'S PERFECT word says it's wrong, it's WRONG. Period. Why is it wrong? I'm a Christian. God gave a us a Book. A Book written by men. Imperfect men. While the Bible is very important, I also feel like if you have "Jesus in your heart" we're supposed to listen to that, too. How do we know for certain "a man shall not lay with another man" didn't come from the person who wrote it, saying it was God? I just know that our souls are genderless, so it shouldn't matter who you love. That is what I feel in my heart to be true.

Wow, I was just telling someone I knew that Joel Osteen was soft, and had a buffet style Christianity, picking and choosing grace and love, but ignoring what God has actually said in His Word. (I mean, we didnt make that up as people, its Gods Word!) HOWEVER, I am impressed by this Joel Osteen and commend you for being loving but also in the TRUTH of Gods Word. Good job representing Christs love towards the gays, but that it is not what He has for us.
God does love everyone, He came to save the lost, He said, not to tell the righteous how good they are. I think we should love everyone, it doesn't mean we approve of what they do. I think Joel is doing the best that he can... It's horrible tho that he allowed them to "bait" him into focusing on one group of people. You see being gay is not worse than a boyfriend and girlfriend who are unmarried and sleeping together, and no worse than someone who commits adultry. There are all sorts of sexual sin... The women of the View were looking up to Mr. Osteen as a spokesman of Jesus Christ for answers about homosexuals, but he failed them most miserably by omitting to speak on mans sin nature. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, therefore the whole world is in need of Gods forgiveness, through repentance, and gays are not different, they need to repent, and turn away from their fornications in order to be forgiven by God through Christs blood, shed on the cross.
Sometimes the truth is so hard to swallow. They asked Osteen how does he feel about the matter, what does the bible and he answered. He didn't mean that God just because some of the hosts took what he said out of context. Anyone can be gay if they want, he's saying that it's biblical. What he said was the truth but it's obvious so many cannot accept the truth.
Really stupid comments. No anyone cannot be Gay. Much like anyone can be Heterosexual if they want. People naturally gravitate towards the people they do. People don't honestly pick and choose one orientation over another. Joel Osteen is a wonderful person and I love watching him each week. But, he is no more a spokesman for God than anyone else. God does not require a spokesman.
Oh for Christ's sake don't be so ridiculous. First of all the Bible was not written by God, but by men whose own prejudices and life experiences shaped what they wrote. Second, Pastor Osteen (and I use the term loosely here) has just put his foot in his mouth. On the one hand he implies that gay people may have been made that way, then he says it's "not God's best." I have been a Christian since 1968 and I was raised to believe that God does not make junk. So there "Pastor" Osteen!

I also know others who have always struggled against that lifestyle, only to be delivered from it. However, it's hard to understand freedom from such a lifestyle, if you believe you are forever bound to it. In closing, I mean absolutely NO offense to anyone and, while I don't agree with that lifestyle personally I, much like Pastor Osteen says, loves everyone.
What happens is that sin begets sin, and it leads to so many vices/strongholds/battles that we might not have, otherwise, faced. Not all of them have to do with our own personal choices, but rather things that were forced on us by others. For example, I know gay people who have been raped, molested, etc., and feel as if they were forced into that particular lifestyle, when they had no control over it...their words.
I, personally, believe that what Pastor Osteen was trying to say was taken out of context. He was NOT saying that God made a mistake in creating anyone, but rather that, perhaps, some of those who are gay have made a mistake, as it pertains to their lifestyles. I agree with him that I don't understand it all, but God would certainly NOT create something that HE speaks against in scripture.

My concern is that many of you demand acceptance and tolerance from others, but yet, you are less tolerant when people do not buy in to your belief. You know nothing of what it means to be Homosexual, and could not possibly put yourself in the shoes of a gay person. Read your scripture more closely to what it is truly saying. Not everything is so black and white. Orientation(gay) was not know in those days, it was thought that only heterosexuals existed. Take the Sodom and G. story. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye, when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
If you read that entire text, Jesus is "not" saying "not" to judge rather He is saying not to judge hypocritically. Take care not to judge if you are doing the same thing that the person you are judging is doing. We are also to judge with Scripture and not our own opinion. Joel Osteen is taking a compromising position. Scripture plainly says that homosexuality is a sin, bottom line.
All you hear about in the news and on TV lately are these different religious groups jumping on the anti gay band wagon. You would think that if these religious groups actually were to do God's work politically it would be for the good of all mankind and not by creating a hate movement against one specific group. The "Loving" Christian View always Blows my mind. To say one group of people "is not GOD's Best" - Wow, So Kind and Inclusive (sarcasm). I wonder how other people would feel when everyday "loving" christian leaders say that who you are is "Not God's Best".
So let me get this straight, Homosexuality is not God's best, God want's what is best for us, but we all make mistakes.... Does that mean homosexuality is a mistake?

I find if fascinating how this gentleman can be faced with empirical evidence on one hand (the existence of homosexuality through hundreds of species of vertebrates, including humans), and the english translation of the bible, on the other, and still proceed to claim some insight on "God's Best." If you accountant, lawyer, or doctor worked on those same principles you would fire him.
This I do know. I have prevented Christian gay youth as young as 12 from committing suicide. Almost every gay youth that I have prevented from taking their life comes from a fundamental Christian faith in which these youth feel demonized, put-down, guilty, and rejected by their God, Senior pastor, Youth pastor, church and many of their families.
No matter what they feel they are second class, living or having ungodly feelings. They would rather die then be gay. Why choose to be gay and then try to kill yourself because you know you can't change who you are?

This "hip, feelgood, everybody is a winner" christianity is not the way to heaven through Christ. The bible says in the last days, christians will be persecuted for thier belief in Christ. It really seems like Joel wants to skip that part. IMO Take a stand already! If you aren't being persecuted for your belief in christ, your brand of christianity may be watered down!!

There is no scripture that teaches believers that Yah "wants us to live the lives that we will." We were and are created for YAH's pleasure ( Col. 1:16, ! Joel Osteen is qualified to preach to the itching ears of this world, however, he is not qualified to preach the Gospel of the GOD of the Bible. Jesus was not accepting of sinners as they were. JESUS's mission statement is noted in Luke 5:31-32 "They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Repentance means change. JESUS considered the sinner to be "sick". JESUS was inclusive to those that would repent or change.

I'm not a big Joelsteen fan. I understand that he does not want to hurt feelings but to say that homosexuality is "not God's best" is like saying that murder is not God's best. Sin is sin. God's "best" is Jesus Christ and unless you have his righteousness (which is a free gift by trusting in his shed blood and believing that he was raised from the dead), you are hopelessly lost and on your way to hell. bu judging this man your only being judged in return. he does talk about stories from the bible, and he does quote scriptures. at the end of EVERY service, he leads people to jesus they stand up if they want to, they pray a prayer, repenting and asking for forgiveness and they are forgiven. his messages arent anything new, his first message was just like this after his dad died and decided to pastor the church. my dad was there and when joel started preaching nobody ever talked like this.

While the Bible is very important, I also feel like if you have "Jesus in your heart" we're supposed to listen to that, too. How do we know for certain "a man shall not lay with another man" didn't come from the person who wrote it, saying it was God? I just know that our souls are genderless, so it shouldn't matter who you love. That is what I feel in my heart to be true.

God speaks to these men who are commanded to reveal to mankind His plan of salvation, His will, His character, and His truth. A prophet testifies of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, that He died for our sins, they preach of repentance, condemnation, judgment, sin, and eternal torment. Wow, I was just telling someone I knew that Joel Osteen was soft, and had a buffet style Christianity, picking and choosing grace and love, but ignoring what God has actually said in His Word. I think Joel is doing the best that he can... It's horrible tho that he allowed them to "bait" him into focusing on one group of people. You see being gay is not worse than a boyfriend and girlfriend who are unmarried and sleeping together, and no worse than someone who commits adultry. There are all sorts of sexual sin... Everyone likes to corner the homosexual community, but all forms of sexual immorality according to the bible is wrong. I don't think ppl should attack homosexuals ONLY.

The women of the View were looking up to Mr. Osteen as a spokesman of Jesus Christ for answers about homosexuals, but he failed them most miserably by omitting to speak on mans sin nature. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, therefore the whole world is in need of Gods forgiveness, through repentance, and gays are not different, they need to repent, and turn away from their fornications in order to be forgiven by God through Christs blood, shed on the cross.

Sometimes the truth is so hard to swallow. They asked Osteen how does he feel about the matter, what does the bible and he answered. He didn't mean that God just because some of the hosts took what he said out of context. Anyone can be gay if they want, he's saying that it's biblical. What he said was the truth but it's obvious so many cannot accept the truth.

People don't honestly pick and choose one orientation over another. Joel Osteen is a wonderful person and I love watching him each week. But, he is no more a spokesman for God than anyone else. Oh for Christ's sake don't be so ridiculous. First of all the Bible was not written by God, but by men whose own prejudices and life experiences shaped what they wrote. Second, Pastor Osteen (and I use the term loosely here) has just put his foot in his mouth. On the one hand he implies that gay people may have been made that way, then he says it's "not God's best." I have been a Christian since 1968 and I was raised to believe that God does not make junk. So there "Pastor" Osteen!

I also know others who have always struggled against that lifestyle, only to be delivered from it. However, it's hard to understand freedom from such a lifestyle, if you believe you are forever bound to it. In closing, I mean absolutely NO offense to anyone and, while I don't agree with that lifestyle personally I, much like Pastor Osteen says, loves everyone.

What happens is that sin begets sin, and it leads to so many vices/strongholds/battles that we might not have, otherwise, faced. Not all of them have to do with our own personal choices, but rather things that were forced on us by others. For example, I know gay people who have been raped, molested, etc., and feel as if they were forced into that particular lifestyle, when they had no control over it...their words.

I, personally, believe that what Pastor Osteen was trying to say was taken out of context. He was NOT saying that God made a mistake in creating anyone, but rather that, perhaps, some of those who are gay have made a mistake, as it pertains to their lifestyles. I agree with him that I don't understand it all, but God would certainly NOT create something that HE speaks against in scripture.

My concern is that many of you demand acceptance and tolerance from others, but yet, you are less tolerant when people do not buy in to your belief. Also, to all those that have posted a negative comment, why is it that you want everyone to be tolerant of your opinions/decision but you or no more tolerant of others? I don't get that. For all of those who look at Scripture to make assumptions about homosexuality, read closer. Read the whole 4 paragraphs before and after. Homosexuality in those days was not know as a Orientation. It was known in the form of rape, lustful orgies,etc...Very different from the loving couples that you see today that are committed to each other and also have Faith in God. Of course their are bone-heads in every group of people, to say gays are "Not God's Best" is ludicrous.

You know nothing of what it means to be Homosexual, and could not possibly put yourself in the shoes of a gay person. Read your scripture more closely to what it is truly saying. Not everything is so black and white. Orientation(gay) was not know in those days, it was thought that only heterosexuals existed. Take the Sodom and G. story. When the town people came out to "know" the two angels what do you think was happening? Most of those people were straight, wanting to rape and inflict violence.

We are to deal with the problem in our life first, then we will see clearly to help others see their problem. It would be wrong for a homosexual to tell another homosexual to repent before dealing with that sin in their own life, but once dealt with (or if it doesn't even have to be dealt with) we see clearly to help others. The loving thing to do is warn you now while you still have time to repent!
You are correct: God will judge accordingly and in His Word it says homosexuality is a sin.

If you read that entire text, Jesus is "not" saying "not" to judge rather He is saying not to judge hypocritically. Take care not to judge if you are doing the same thing that the person you are judging is doing. We are also to judge with Scripture and not our own opinion. Joel Osteen is taking a compromising position. Scripture plainly says that homosexuality is a sin, bottom line.

I find if fascinating how this gentleman can be faced with empirical evidence on one hand (the existence of homosexuality through hundreds of species of vertebrates, including humans), and the english translation of the bible, on the other, and still proceed to claim some insight on "God's Best."
