@justanotherfan6hd the only real difference between the american akita and the akita inu is that the american one is bigger, for the rest they are mostly the same

@deathscorpion89 The American isnt bigger, its usually stockier but they grow to the same height. There is also a distinct difference in their face. The inu is much more oriental 'Japanese looking' around the eyes. Americans also usually have a black mask which isn't allowed with the inu. I have both types so I really see a big difference in them. The American was bred with mastiffs and other large dogs hence the black mask and less oriental features, and also tend to have a broader muzzle.

I really hope you're sure. Huskies need a tremendous amount of exercise, they're are pack-animals (one husky is not enough, you should get another dog for a friend for the husky) and they're very loud, they don't bark much but howl instead quite a lot. But if you are aware about all of it, then please do get a husky. Two huskies, actually. If not two huskies, a husky and a friend for him. The friend has to be a pack-dog too, though.

I love akitas, and I love the story of hachiko, but these are NOT a breed for inexperienced owners, and I'm afraid that the movie will cause a boom in irresponsible akita owners. these dogs can be very aggressive if not properly socialized as pups, and they've already gotten a bad reputation in the US. the last thing that responsible akita owners need if for some moron to get bit and have this wonderful breed get the same unfair treatment that pitbulls receive.

@Aholesandwich These are akita inu. American akitas do have problems with aggression but its much rarer in the akita inu. Mostly because the american type were bred with dogs like the Tosa and Mastiff to make them bigger and better fighting dogs. I have both types and they are very different types dogs. The akita inu is the pure Japanese type, hence the slanty eyes.

They look cute, but they are on of the hardest dogs to train and grow up, If you don't be the master over them, they are the master over you. Because of the movie Hachiko lots of people think AAAW CUTE, but it's a very hard trainable breed. You need to have expierence ;)

Those are not Akita Inus... Those are american akitas... Akita Inu looks like a large shiba inu. Black isnt allowed in the breed... and you can see one of em is black and white.

In japan there is a Statue of him on honoring his loyalty

On February 28, 1974 the AKC registry was closed to further showing of imported Akita dogs. On April 13, 1992, the AKC registry recognized the Japan Kennel Club (JKC) registry and, therefore, began to allow imported Akita dogs from Japan to be shown at the AKC shows.
