@Saxonsoldiers Canadians move to the US more so than the other way around per capita. It was jokingly said that LA was Canada's 5-6th largest city given the sheer amount of Canadians there. As for safer, highly debatable.. Canada has a lower murder rate and we should congratulated on that. Texas became independent but didn't become a state until 1845. The War of 1812 was a stalemate, however if it wasn't for couple of battles we would have lost, we were on the brink of defeat. British forces were from the UK, Canada, and native allies as well.

Canadians see the entire 1812 war as ours. Quite obviously even the disastrous Battle of New Orleans strikes a cord as this song uses elements the US song of the same name. The British solders who died in New Orleans died on our behalf to force the USA to give up plans of conquering Canada. I mispoke when I said first, I just meant older than Ottawa, I know "Canada" as we know it didn't even exist and the real first capital of "Canada" was actually Quebec City when Canada was what is now Quebec. I didn't forget the war of 1812, it has nothing to do with this song, while it may have been won by the Prussians and Brits the Americans were fighting for an entirely different reason and this song is completely wrong. As for safer, highly debatable.. Canada has a lower murder rate and we should congratulated on that. Canada did not exist until the constitution was written in 1867. Actually Canada technically didn't even become a fully sovereign democratic nation until we governmentally separated from GB in1982.

The us army were saved by a different tribe from total anihilation-this is the only recorded time that native indians helped the us.

@toonmag50 Tecumsah was fighting the American expasion in to native lands. He used a tactic simaler to that used by Chief Pontiac during his uprising by pretending that he was working for the French hopping to expand the war but the British didn't fall for it. Madison almost certainly knew that Tecumsah was misleading him with his claims of British backing but with Briton so buisy with Napolion he must have believed he could take Canada easily so used it as an excuse.

Canada didn't exist and it was filled with the British, so Canadians can't boast about winning the war, when they weren't even a part of it. btw Canada was founded in the 1860s. So to me, the joke makes no sense.

Even before there was a British Canada the was a French Canada that Existed before the USA or even before the British colonies that would later become the USA. 1868 is when an independant goverment was estabilished.
It's like the date when you become an adult 16 leave home, get a job, drink smoke, you don't have to try to kill your family to be an adult as the US did.

@Eddythebeast666 ...4 or 5 generations removed from England, Scotland, Sweden, Netherlands, ect... I don't know about you, but I'm German, Irish, Norwegian, Italian, and Slovakian. I, myself, have never been to Germany, Ireland, Norway or Italy (There isn't a distinguished Slovakian country anymore). I can't speak much German, Norwegian, or Italian, and I'm not familiar with the land. So if there was a war between nations and any of my root countries were involved, I wouldn't hold it personally.

The British had signed The Quebec Act respecting our lands and culture we lived in peace. The American Colonies rebeled refusing to tolerate us. The French Canadians and Natives were angry with Napolion/USA over the Loisiana Purchase 1804 and the waves of American settlers stealing our lands. WE STILL EXIST UP HERE. The Bay of Bigs was a US failure during the Cold War, but it was conducted with ex-cuban exiles(not american soldiers) to overthrow Castro. Vietnam tactically we beat the hell out of them, strategically we failed miserably, 660,000 -1 million North Vietnamese forces were killed 58,029 Americans were killed and 303,000 wounded. Also we had half our helicopters shot down. The NVA were supported by the Soviets just like the US supplied the Afghans in the Soviet defeat in Afghanistan.

Nothing wrong with a little fun. The alamo was a glorious defeat(outnumbered heavily), also the alamo wasn't the only battle of the Texas Revolution, we won the Texas Revolution 1835-36. Texas became independent but didn't become a state until 1845. The War of 1812 was a stalemate, however if it wasn't for couple of battles we would have lost, we were on the brink of defeat. British forces were from the UK, Canada, and native allies as well.

@JOSUE1987 Because there are technically three "White Houses" in the US. The original was in New York, then was moved to Pennsylvania, and finally moved to DC. It was burned down, but the president and family made it out okay. So it was rebuilt.
