  • うわーすげえ!みにいきてえええ!!!

  • Thanks for sharing the video. Its a rare event to watch.

  • wow that's really nice.. safest way of launching, i guess

  • That was very cool!

  • this is the the safest way of launch

  • i love it

  • Wow nice~

  • omg u must be lucky...and i want to see it live

  • That must be an amazing sight to see in the flesh and not on video, anyway, was a great vid!

  • thanx for sharing! good stuff!

  • That was interesting to watch.

  • What I would love to see one day is a side-launch as per watch?v=64dAv9sk7GE or watch?v=b1jmbUHhYGw. Now THAT is crazy stuff!

  • When I first started watching this, I thought "Ok, ships are cool and everything, but what's so interesting about one being launched?"

And then I watched the rest.....

....That was quite majestic looking. 8-D

Now I want to see one in person...

    Thanks for sharing! :D

  • Very cool. That would be fun to see a brand new ship being launched.

I bet they release ships like that all the time from the dry docks here in Halifax, but I've never actually seen it happen.

  • Hard to believe there were people under that ship pushing out supports by hand!

  • At one time, Kobe had huge Suzuki corporation which was the biggest company in Japan during Taisho era. It bankrupted but left a lot of subsidiary companies. Kobe still has Suzuki's legacy.

  • very cool video! good stuff, man...

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it.

    How are things?

  • Very interesting. Also interesting that they played that American marching band song too.

  • wee SPLASH! ^-^ Great video!

  • Awesome video KeVin.

  • That was really cool. I love going to community/local events. I feel goofy and have a good time. Good job Kevin.

  • I've never seen Like this ..thanks for sharing

    Nice vid

  • wow that ship launched very quickly for it's size! That is surprising.

  • I was kind of worried for a moment that "Tragedy" would hit and there would be a HUGE accident.

But damn for a boat that big, it sure was launched pretty fast.

  • wow this was cool ive never seen a ship launch great vid 5 stars!

  • It was an amazing experience!

  • That is really cool...I can hardly wait to travel. There's so much to see!

  • look at all those salary man!!

  • There were a lot of very proud and young looking salarymen there!

  • Eh, woulda been really awesome had it been a navy ship XD

  • YEah...I would have really enjoyed seeing a frigate or destroyer being launched!

  • That was fantastic! Interesting in this day and age of technology that they topple the supports manually.

  • So true. It's 2009 and they were just using a good ole sledge hammer and their hands!

  • Ahhh Awesome, Super cool.! And of course the American instrumental background lol.

  • Yeah....that John Philip Sousa music just made it seem even more surreal! I'm glad it happened :)

  • cooooooll!!

hehe I think it's funny how the men that take away the supports are wearing hard hats...like that would make much difference if the ship were to fall on them...lol

  • exactly....helmets or not, they'd be little more than red wet spots on the pavement!

  • Nord Tradition?

  • Yep...that is the name of it!

  • AMAZING! who is the owner of the vessel?

  • LOL! wedding boat!

  • wow thats big ;-)

  • That was so cool! I loved seeing it go into the water!

  • Wow! That was a pretty big ship. Do you have any video of the propellers?

  • No I don't. I didn't get to the ear of the ship.

  • The "propeller" of a ship is its "wheel", or sometimes it's "screw."

  • Maritime tradition is a big deal, it was probably a champagne bottle.

  • You are probably right! I know sailors are a superstitious lot. I'm sure shipbuilders are as well!

  • Nice video, a ship launch is one thing I also want to experience, special a big one.

  • I never thought I would. When I was invited it was a very pleasant surprise!

  • Wow! pretty cool man.

  • I thought so too! Thanks :)

  • when he started knocking out supports i was like :0 do not want

  • That is certainly a job I wouldn't want to have!

  • OMG that was god level awesome OMFG XD i would so much pay to see that!

I Sir are a Youtube King now! XD

Keep up the Great Videos we all enjoy!

  • Glad you enjoyed it so much!

  • That is pretty impressive, i never witnissed* such an event so thanks for sharing

  • Awesomeness levels just went through the roof, sir!

I wanted to have seen that so badly! Wow!

  • That was cool; thanks for sharing.

  • Glad you enjoyed it so much!

  • What a thrill. And to hear "Monty Python's " Theme as well. :)

  • haha....so true :)

  • haha i would hate to be one of the guys moving those supports

  • yeah. I hope they get paid very well. That's a job I'd be too chicken to have.

  • that was very cool

  • It was awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • very cool! now its time for a beer BUSAN!!!!!!!

  • haha....I don't think I had one after that :) Possibly that evening though.

  • Thanks for that video! Wow what a huge ship! Is that awesome or what? Thanks for the glimpse into something I will probably never see otherwise! :-)

  • It was really cool! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

  • Cool stuff Kevin-teacher!

  • Thanks so much :)

  • that was awesome! but it is hard to believe that an Atlantic Canada boy has never seen a ship christening! That was awesome, Kevin

  • I've seen a few small fishing boats go in the water, but nothing like this!

  • That would have been very cool to see live. Don't think I would have liked being one of those guys under it removing the wooden stabilizers though haha

  • Not at all....that seemed like a rather scary job! I doubt the little helmets they were wearing would help them much if the ship suddenly slipped!

  • Cool video. I like watching anything made with large amounts of metal. Does that make me a crow?

  • Possibly! I think the metal would have to be shiny though.

  • very nice!

  • Glad you dug it!

  • kind of reminded me of Boston Harbor here at home. 5 Stars.

  • Very cool and thank you for the 5 stars!

  • Awesome video!

What was with the American "ra ra" music??

Always makes me cringe when I hear that in Japan..

  • That song is "The Washington Post March" by John Philip Sousa. Kind of a strange choice for the launching of a Japanese ship but I guess they like the sound of it.

  • Yeah.. they play it at Japanese school events sometimes when there are marching bands and stuff too..

  • I often hear Japanese marching bands playing Sousa's pieces. Very common and odd....to hear in Japan!

  • it always does feel oddly out of place to hear American marching music played by Japanese bands!

  • This seriously needs to be featured.

  • There are quite a few excellent videos that I think should be featured. Unfortunately YouTube usually features videos I don't think are very good or interesting. I wish there was something I could do about this.

  • This video felt like New York City circa 1920. Only with lots of Japanese school children.

  • That was amazing! I can't even imagine what it must have been like to be there.

  • it was really great. I'm so happy I had the chance to check it out!

  • I was there!!!

  • That was freaking awesome. I have a friend that works up in Yokohama for a ship builder. I'm totally gonna see if I can watch a launching. I wonder how often it happens.

  • Yeah! I felt like a little kid at Christmas seeing this. it was a once in a lifetime thing.

  • Holy crap!!! that was awesome. I was super shocked when it just started rolling into the water lol. Thanks for sharing! What an amazing experience to see first hand!

  • Thanks. what made it even more amazing was that I was only standing about 5 meters from the ship when it started to slide into the sea!

  • That was very cool Kevin!

  • Thanks. i thought it was too :)

  • Nice! I want to build a big ship and launch it now :P

  • Well, then...what are you waiting for? Get building! hehe

  • But I've got essays and stuff! I'm talking about connecting trees online and stuff!

  • Pretty cool.

Must have been exciting being so close.

  • it was very cool. I was so surprised that they let people stand so close!

  • very cool footage...

  • Thanks so much. I thought ti was quite cool!
