  • Never cut a piece of wood on a cooler. Don't listen to all the facts in this video he gave some wrong facts, when a chain throws, which is when a chain comes off the bar, it does not fly up towards you, it goes down because the saw is forcing it down and that's why there is a foot pad so it does not hit your hand. You should look into more videos on chainsaw safety, trust me I am a logger. I have nothing against these videos I actually like them but you have to look into it a little more.

  • This is really great....thank you. I've been taught to fear the 'kick back' but with this video advice, I feel more informed on how to use a chainsaw better. THANK YOU!!!

  • Will you cut this log or what?

  • Nice movie !

  • Whatever you do, don't turn your back on your chainsaw. A friend of mine was seriously injured when his saw went feral and crept up and bit him on the ass.

    You should be stopped!!

  • Maybe you should mention the proper clothing and safety gear that should be warn during chainsawing. i know a lot of idiots who think all they need is shorts and tennis shoes and say "oh i wont cut my self maybe just some sawdust"

  • the oiler on my ryobi 40cc is not working, is there any external oilers that can be fitted..

  • Needs better shoes for safety overall Good Job

  • I have never experienced a kickback downwards...?

  • nice slippers lol

  • i like this very helpful

  • Awsome Video thanks friend!

  • lol in the video how to cut firewood from him he cuts like he warned us in this video see it and thumbs up if u are a guy!

  • i wanted to buy one of them this week... this guy just cold me down...

  • the new leatherface

  • @freddykill13 hahhhaaha

  • if you have to learn somebody about a dangerous tool (chainsaw or simelary),

you have also to learn about safety gear. eye, ear, and headprotection and saw boots, pants and jackets. good luck ;)

  • This is a good video for people who know nothing about chainsaws. Every year

people buy Poulans, Homelites and other home owner type chainsaws at some local store and don't know how to use them.

Its good for them to know about kickback.

  • Kickback lol I got a McCulloch 4-30A 87cc gear drive and that never kicks back on me lol ( Not to brag )

  • hes basically told you that you'll kill yourself one way or another if you pick one of those up.

  • @gpzDave If you don't use your head and have common sense, yes you can either get killed,or maimed, but if you do things with safety in mind, which means just about any tool you use,you will absolutely have no problems.A chainsaw is not a toy but a tool,so this video is excellent in explaining a chainsaws proper use.

  • Good video.

  • i wonder if his saw even runs?

  • thanks a lot for upload this video...hepls me

  • no bucking spike are the spikes bolted to the side of the saw next to the bar you push the saw into the wood and the spikes dig in and you can rock the saw in the wood and to cut down more you pull it out and drop the back down and dig the spikes back in you are probably american right? im australian we call them bucking spike we have to have them on my sthil 051AV i have had two sets of spike put on each side and there1 and a half inches long by law as im a aborist

  • Good eye, I didn't notice his saw not having dogs (bucking spikes) They are indeed very beneficial when cutting.

  • always hold the saw at the top of the front handle and keep wrist straight that way if it kicks back your wrist will hit the blade lock handle in front and stop the blade before it can do any harm

  • Use the correct names. Chain brake not blade lock handle it stops the chain before it can do any harm not the blade, chainsaw do not have blades.

  • tee hee. imagine kick down while your legs are WIDE OPEN now that would be funny!

  • Wow, investorclass is a PUSSY

  • oh i thought you were going to cut it but id don't matter still good advice

  • when you use a chainsaw use one with bucking spikes and you can use the end of the bar but its advised to take a course for cutting bore holes etc...

  • I think what you are referring to when you say bucking spikes are the dogs.

  • ok so how does someone chainsaw-carve? because i know they use all parts of the saw and there's no way they get those angles and avoid kickback... what i do know of kickback is don't force it and it will cut smooth without the kick.

  • "Kickback"?! I was going to rent a chainsaw to cut up a tree that fell in my back this weekend but this video has informed me that I'm going to need to call a professional. Thanks for posting expertvillage.

  • @InvestorClass bull shit, do it yourself, just don't be dumb and you will be fine

  • @InvestorClass fuck that chainsaws are a blast

  • @InvestorClass were in the fuck can u rent a chainsaw?

  • hmm finally he's got some points right however his advice here is straight out of the noob book and not to be taken literally. I use the tip to cut all the time, kickback isnt fuck all. My adivise for beginers is too emulate kickback for yourself so u know what to expect.

  • So do I. I got more muscles than my chainsaw and it takes a hell of alot of force to move my arms.

  • I don't care how fucking strong you are if the saw kicks back it's going to move your arms. Try to keep your left wrist and elbow locked straight while cutting and this will help prevent the saw from kicking back into your body.

  • I don't even remember commenting on this video so don't yell at me.

  • quit telling everyone wat to do fuker

  • Take it easy kid, this is only you tube, we are just throwing our thoughts, ideas, knowledge, criticisms and opinions out there. Feel free to take them or leave them.

  • watch for a high idle when u set the saw down, too, because the saw may not disengage and leave the chain going wen it's not supposed to..... this one got me lol... dumb mistake but it happens fuck it

  • most of it is bullshit or made for amateurs!there is no way to cut yourself in the head if you have atleast a little bit of strenght in your arms!and you can cut with the tip of the chainplate, just you have to know how to do that!

  • Hi ahtijrve, this drew guy is pretty much not an expert, but if you cant see how an 066 or 880 or 3120 can kickback faster than your control of it, you aint been "logging" hard and nasty. Bucking gets extreme too!.

  • Thanks for the advise. I just bought a used saw and the pointers give me some of the basics that I wouldn't have thought of myself. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • This is the only vid by this guy where he speaks with some sort of authority...he's obviously had a lot of experience with kick-back ;)

  • gud vid. about to get into forestry

  • MURDER!!! LOL (:

  • be careful & have fun :))

    /watch?v=EGYKO73padk

  • who needs a saw that big for wood that small? mabye u should have bought a stihl

  • Good Video. I like the fact that he talked about not leaning over the top of the saw when cutting. That is a common mistake that many people make.

  • Nice vid, thanks :)

  • does a tip guard uterlly STOP "bar nose kickback" no matter what you do with it? (except push/pull kickback)

  • A tip guard physically blocks the "kickback prone" part of the blade and prevents you from using it. It also prevents you from doing other things such as plunge cuts and would generally be a pain in the ass (I would imagine although I've never owned a saw with one). You would be better served to just learn how to properly control your saw in the first place. The guards are like training wheels; they become a crutch for a lack of control and skill.

  • time to practice my chainsawing skill! brb..
