usually riding a rollercoaster comes from knowing you're safe, but as close to danger as you can possibly be and just letting loose and enjoying the atmosphere/theme/specacle of the whole thing. Some themes are hellish, some are space-age, some are flying and weightlessness. The theme of this ride however seems to be some kind of sick trust excersise between you and the engineer, and death.

I love big roller coasters, and have no hesitation getting on rides like the Kingda Ka or X2, none. But there is no possible way I'll ever ride this thing, or Insanity, period.

Just one poor maintenance inspection, or hidden metal fatigue, one bolt snap, or one unknown hydraulic failure and that's it. Several seconds to think about your horrifying death before you crater. And for what? A teeter-totter ride 800' up in the air.

Not only that but the rides that do fail are nearly always cited to be improperly maintained. Stratosphere is a casino and it builds it's business on P.R., they probably inspect their rides more regularly than Disney.

When I was on the ride it was boring because it felt that god damn stable.

You are going to die someday no matter what so you might as well get as much enjoyment out of life that you can in the time you have remaining. That doesn't mean you should live dangerously to get cheap thrills, but an amusement ride isn't that. It is one of the safest mechanical things you can interact with
