  • Just buy the cd seven turns

  • I have always loved this song. i love the original version by johnson but man this version by the allman brothers is very soul gripping. what a powerful song. i also like the version by delaney and bonnie with duane allman playing his amazing slide guitar. thank god for the blues and the allman brothers band

  • Fantastic cd, all the members are super talented. I too am really happy to hear about greg having a sucessful surgery. I must say, that if you have lots of money, a transplant is almost always available, but if you don't have money and need a transplant, its' all about a waiting list, which for a working class guy means death. Its' urgently important to donate any life saving organs. Huichol53.......

  • man im guna spend everyday of my life to learn as much of this music as possible. it hits you way down in the pitt of your stomach like nothing else ive ever felt

  • i spoke to someone the other day and they said resonators are shit well after seing this video and warren playing man you can suck my d@#k

  • one off my favorite R. Johnson songs picked by some north Florida badasses

  • Watch Warren's face around 2:50 as he digs into his solo. Nyce!

  • to bad the sky dog,s not there .

  • Red Dog gave me my first drum stick when I was seven. I was a littile kid in Alexander 4 elementry school, and a kid in my class, his dad was a roadie for the band. Great video!

  • 1:05 to bypass the bs

  • @jeepndesert You think acknowledging the band is BS? What's your hurry, you got someplace to go? Maybe one day you notice one of these guys playing with someone else and you listen just a bit closer. How else are you going to get educated? On the other hand maybe you're 11 and it hasn't started to sink in yet. That's ok - still no hurry.

  • There ya go Duane,,,,fuckin eh !!!

  • Dickie is the shit!!!

  • more hair on that stage than I've seen since the millenium turned

How about Johnny winter, Mean town Blues or be careful with a fool? Also try Swing Low by rocco de luca live at Starbucks. He's smokin on slide guitar...Huichol53.......

Congratulations Greg Allman on successful liver transplant...

  • @CactusWolf

hasis20 just upped a version from a studio album. Check it out under video responses. It has details of recording year and of course title of the album.

  • @CactusWolf this is on the Seven Turns Album I think

  • @CactusWolf i SO know what u mean noone knows this song!

  • Awesome. Crooked Still also has a great version.

  • for those of you out there who don't like the blues, YOU ARE MISSING OUT

  • Excellent!

  • actually Robert Johnson took the melody from the Mississipi sheiks hit song Sittin on top of the world, but he made it better....

  • i can't friggin believe how good this is..hard to wrap my mind around it...

  • Warren Haynes is one of the most unsung guitar players on the planet...a fucking monster player. Check out Gvt. Mule....

  • what tuning is he using dickie betts using?

  • nice song

  • God damn I miss Duane Allman!

  • What brand of Dobros are two of them playing? Love the sound.

  • Looks like a National

  • thats nice real nice

    cheers

  • this CD is unavailable..anyone know how to find this and buy it somewhere?

  • This is a video clip from an MTV Concert that was recorded live at the National Video Center, N.Y.C., November 19, 1990.

  • limewire dude

  • Excellent post!

  • Thanks! It's one of very few uploads from me and I very much enjoy the very positive feedback it receives. Although I can't claim credit for what we see and hear in this video, it's nice to know that there are so many good people who appreciate this music as much as I do.

  • I'm not American, I'm Scottish, but all I can say is these 'Southerners' as My64Firebird put it, did a brilliant job. I own the 'Robert Johnson: King of the Delta Blues Singers' collection of songs and regarding this performance, I think The Allman Brothers Band did extremely well. Its different from the original, but its every bit as pure.

  • @CloudNine9136 Allmans are one of the world's best...not just USA's best matey!

  • one of the best bands of ALL time - full blooded musicians

  • C-Mon! :-)) Love it. God_bless you

  • Appreciate it, although them southeners did 'country-ize' this ol' blues tune. Check out the Johnny Winter version (not on YT) which is on his Live Bootleg Series Vol I.

  • If I remember correctly, Robert Johnson was a southerner too!

  • Robert Johnson is a delta bluesman...as in Mississippi delta. You can't go no further without a boat. Blues was born is Miss. delta. That's raw country juke joint whiskey by the half pint down south son...yeah I'm down to check out the Johnny Winter version too. Peace.

  • Oh you're 53...I'm sorry I called you "son"...just a colloquialism is all. Peace and love indeed.

  • Robert Johnson would be proud......

  • Looks like a good time!

    Alexei

    Canada

  • dios!!!!!

    son mis dioses!!!

    ALLMAN BROS Y ALLEN WOODY!!!!

    GRÁCIAS!!!

  • I always thought this line up was awesome -

  • Blues like nobody's business!

  • what kinda resonator is dickey betts playin?

  • idk but i like it. dobros are sick

  • A+ Robert J cover by one of the greatest bands ever. And guys, don't take this digginestdogg dude seriously.. lol I think he's lost some of his marbles.

  • lol yea he is a retard, i quote " Butterlfiield: naw, no soul and his popularity shows it; " what the hell has popularity to do with it? by that logic The jonas brothers are better than the allman brothers....lol BULLSHIT!

  • warren haynes got a lot fatter`

  • it could be far better with DUANE!

  • Greeg Allman is really the only white boy who can sing the blues.

  • Clapton, SRV, Paul Butterfield, Johnny Winter...

  • peter green, rory gallagher

  • Eddie Martin, Warren Haynes, Eric Burdon.

  • What the hell do mean Clapton sucks? you need to listen to "From the Cradle" that's some soulful shit.

  • Yes this is true. Unlike Britney, however, he is the Jack Of All Trades.

  • Note too that those "few good ones" were far from originals.

  • I can't believe you've never heard of Peter Green....take a look at Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac on YT

  • Rattlesnake shake

  • you have never heard of peter green?god damn man whats wrong with you.

  • How dare you compare Clapton to Britney Spears, you and your opinion can shove it! CLAPTON FOR LIFE!

  • What the fuck?? Are you on LSD?

  • Well yes, Clapton is really just marketed blues. Probably better left just called classic rock. I do like him though especially his voice(on songs like Wonderful Tonight which certainly isnt blues)

  • you should listen to stevie ray vaughan....he got a really deep good voice

  • I have most all of SRV's CD's and was a huge fan of his, actually he is my favorite guitarist...he still cannot sing the blues like Allman, not even close.

  • Magnificent version!!

  • Magnificent. One of my favorite line-ups/period of the band, and Gregg sounds tremendous. Warren Haynes, my goodness.

  • to anyone that don,t know gregg is the larry bird of soul .. might be your man i don,t know ring a bell? and solo my personal fav i was kinda ruff i,m no angel .

  • Thanks! This is awesome. Just ordered this DVD - thanks for the info/title.

  • Oh why, oh why wasn't this ever released on CD and DVD...

  • Well, it was. That's where I got it. This is from the DVD "The Allman Brothers Band - Woodstock and New York" and this song is from the acoustic part recorded in N.Y. in 1990. The DVD is published by Woodstock Tape & Video Corp.

  • @IViewMusic thanks for the info m8!great stuff,loving blues

  • Brilliant

  • There's something strange on Warren's uppper lip.

  • Damn!!! That's what I call skilled!

  • WHAT chew been SMOKIN',Jaimo!? De-am!!ha-where the audience be?

  • G*d damn they rock. At least recording technology came before so us youngin's can hear what good, real music can sound like. thank you Robert Johnson and my hats off to the boys. r.i.p. duane, one of the baddest slide players in the last 100 years (in my opinion)

  • Gregg's voice is incredible.

  • They should have let Warren Haynes play slide, he's twice the player.

  • hey mate it aint a competion and this record sound perfect...but i do agree warren may be better technique wise

  • INCREDIBLE!

  • Awesome.

  • Yeah DICKEY BETTS is so great and its not the allmans with out him!!

I had an epiphany last night. DIckey and gregs kids should be in a band together!!

  • Great tune and one of the best acoustics covers the ABB ever played. Dickey Betts is one fine picker.

  • 848 veiws!! this is a travesty! this is one of the greatest covers ever!

  • one of the best covers EVER

  • love this arrangement.r.j. would be proud. his stuff lends itslef to some creative interpretation by other artists.

  • Fantastic!
