I'm not American, I'm Scottish, but all I can say is these 'Southerners' as My64Firebird put it, did a brilliant job. I own the 'Robert Johnson: King of the Delta Blues Singers' collection of songs and regarding this performance, I think The Allman Brothers Band did extremely well. Its different from the original, but its every bit as pure.

Well, it was. That's where I got it. This is from the DVD "The Allman Brothers Band - Woodstock and New York" and this song is from the acoustic part recorded in N.Y. in 1990. The DVD is published by Woodstock Tape & Video Corp.
