I only of one other stick that's tougher than arnis, and that's walis ting-ting that my mom used to woop my ass with. I could only do two things: run away, or cry. : )
Awesome video...could definitely do some damage. I'd show this kinda move, if I were to be surrounded, unless they have a gun.
467kamagong is retarded and poor in visual analysis, it's a "demo" u little piece of monkey crap!! and even if isnt a demo at that speed and accuracy any opponent trying to strike back would end up paralyzed by those rapid whips.
467kamagong you know what you should think twice before you comment, are you really a martial artist? Don't you know the meaning of the word drill? As a martial artist you should have a broad mind or an open mind when honing your skills. I know that training to develop practical techniques is important that's what your trying to tell right? But you should also be able to differentiate how to handle different weapons adapt to different situations and be flexible as a martial artist.
i mean do you really need to hit him that much ...do do do you really think he'd still be standing?.....think about what your doing you making it more flashy then a clean strike is a simple move his stick out the way and hit him many times with my stick {if you reply to this i know blah blah blah but still watch it and say im wrong}
You're right, you don't really hit him that much. Two to three solid strikes will render him disable. This is just one of the "drills" being practiced to improve your stirking patterns with power so you're arms won't lose its way. We have a drill for "street fighting" where you give 2-3 solid strikes while your partnet continuously attacks as well. What you've seen is very small part of the whole training.
Karate is different lol. I got my balck belt in karate in mid 90s and TKD in early 2000. I'm 3rd Dan in Lapunti Arnis. Mind you sticks, dagger and knives are much more intense here than in my previous Martl Arts. If you're a filipino and doing weaponless MAs, then I suggest you're next step is go with common weapons like stick, knives, daggers and guns. Nowadays, bad guys come around with these from your behind. They don't face you with their fightng stance lol.
Yep very true Lemuel...i've seen MMA fighters fought in the ring and street and win most of the time but when they we're tested in an opponent with knives they're hits is 3x against 5 slashes and 4 stabs :-D. They lack the ability to disarm.Of course same with Arnis/Kali practitioner they lack with kicks & grappling so best is to know both when u can. Lemuel are you based in Cebu?
Yes, in Cebu. Under Master Edgar Caburnay (in the vid clip). He's the nephew of GM Ondo Caburnay. But I'm owrkng in Thailnad now. I visit Master Edgar whenever I come home for vacation and continue practicing under him. Mind you, he's prowess' in Lapunti is really excellent.
@lemuel88: I agree with you. Master Edgar has excellent skills in lapunti. He is also fun to be with. I trained with him for only a few months 8 years ago.... I want to be under his tutelage again... I don't know where to find him now... Is his gym still in Bulacao Talisay/Tabunok?
I will highly appreciate it if you can give me his number or address... thanks
@757ninja: I heard this many time why with the multiple strike. As Lemuel emphasize its merely a drill but the pattern is applied when using a blade, You have to familiarized yourself to the direction in a way that the stick or knife wont hit yourself and delivers multiple slash and blows. In short this for reflex development.
@757ninja Little boy go do your fuckin homework. FMA has been battle tested for generations.....it is considered as THE BEST defensive martial arts.... what the fuck do you think the US Navy SEALs use when using knives eh? dis aint none of the pussy karateh "Hiyah" family martial arts.....FMA is a warriors art! that means it is used in the frontlines.....you only see the tip of the iceberg
This is a drill to hone your movement and develop your striking skill, not a real fight. Mayb ur style is running away that's why you don't need a practice drill. Your comments reflects ur ignorance on martial arts. Your wasting your time viewing these vid clips.

i am indeed wasting my time watching this video and you are wasting your time making useless video clips.
you can't say to your enemy - don't move because i'm going to hit you! LOL :)

Your just wasting your time making useless comments. Clearly your ignorance manifests on this matter.

in a real fight you don't say..."hit me like this so that i can parry like that" what you do is a waste of time.

The guy in white just stands there and isn't fighting back so, naturally the guy on the left looks impressive. But the flow of attacks is nice.
femdomcushion 5 years ago
The guy in white is not suppose to react as it is a demo on close strike.
lemuel88 5 years ago
Of course, coz it's not a sparring...what they are doing is a drill. This is common in many forms of martial arts. No offense...

drill please do find the meaning of it no offense,,,
