I thought this song was about people fighting over small things or want more of something, hence the "spoonful" which is a small amount of something. But the actual singer or performer is satisfied with just a spoonful of love from his/her lover, 'cause that's enough for him/her. I might be wrong though, I don't buy into the heroin stuff though.
