Except the bank stage, Umk3 has just more stuff than than MK3... So I don't get why people say mk3 is better :\  Maybe on principle I could understand, but they should have released umk3 has mk3 in the first place. It wouldn't have hurt people's feelings as much, avoiding fans to invest affection on a first version (mk3) then coming out later with a revised (actually better) version (umk3).

You are not alone with not liking UMK3. I for one think UNK3 is crappy and is boring. It is the same useless chars all the time. They also got rid of of the bank stage, one of my favorites, and the bios for most of them is gone.

BTW the reason Metal Slug does not work is because the Neo Geo BIOS file is not complete or out of date. If you need anymore help, please feel free to ask. I have been using MAME for about 11 years.

@kornstory Sir, I have the right file. What you do is put in the same folder as the games. It crucial that you do NOT rename any game's zips. It should be named neogeo.zip. If you do what I said and it still does not work, I will need to know what version of MAME you are using. MAME, I will be honest, can be VERY confusing. I can help you with any other problems you have. Shoot me a question or whatever.

@kornstory MAME is such an awesome program, but it is so frustrating. Keep in mind that you can have every game on MAME and if you get an updated version, many of them will no longer work. my guess is they updated the game and you are missing the correct files in the zip. If you want the game, let me know. I can host it for you. Let me know what you need and I will help you.

@kornstory: how did you get the d9800 mounted in that midway cabinet ? Those wood strips on the inside do I remove them ? or just saw through it. The 4 metal block mounts inside, i just move them ?  Also did you buy custom brackets that mount the monitor to the blocks or use the stock ones.

@underpathunderpath Take the NeoGeo bios and put right in the ROM folder as if it were another game. Most of the front software programs won't try to load it as a game in your selection list, but if it does, you should be able to create a filter list of which ROMS shouldn't show up.

Anyway, another way to do it is to take all the files inside the NeoGeo ROM zip file and place them directly into each of the Metal Slug ROM zips and it should work fine.

@ledfrog I told him to do all of that. he is using a newer version of MAME that his romset can not use. He needs to update his roms.
