  • LOL 'come outta the closet'

  • True that we have to consider stigma that will be associated with special diets, but baseline...what's important....our children's feelings or their health?

  • BORRRRRRRINGGGGGGG...bring the kids in geeezzz!

  • And if all fails, pidgion and finch traps (lol >:))

  • I didn't start watching this video for the weather forecast.

  • Have to tried chelating treatment for your son? They can help removed mercury and lead from the body, not the prescription chelating agents as they are dangerous but ALA and modified citrus pectin are good. Also try the supplement piracetam.

  • @yuri35434: Zeolite is the best for that. The stuff is used to filter aquariums. It is gentle on the system and does a good job.

Chelation, in conjunction with regulated diet, can help rid the afflicted gentleman with any of his ADD/ADHD related issues.

  • This was an excellent video, great breakdown of the study! I'm currently writing a critical essay on ADD diagnosis, and incorporating physiological factors, this was very good.

  • search youtube for msg - there are plenty of vids on that additive

ive heard natrium glutamate affects kids behavior making them hyperactive

my bottom line, after all ive read and seen - avoid all additives, as much as u can, they were never meant to appear in your body.

learn to cook and enjoy the natural taste of products.

  • I have tried to avoid corn syrup, but like additives, there is no escape from it. a shrink would rather pill you up than have you take preventive measures. now that the agri-giants have hr875, organics will be dead and gardens will be illegeal.

  • corn syrup is basically sugar that comes from corn....

the only reason its in a syrup form is because it contains water

i would only avoid it if i where allergic to corn

  • corn syrup is... but there's a difference between corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup which is not good for u... look it up on wikipedia...

  • sorry what do you mean about " agri-giants have hr875, organic will be dead and gardens will be illegal"?

  • that was the gov't's latest attempt to ban organic gardening. doesn't matter anyway codex alimentarius WTO(world gov't) reclassifies ALL nutrients as toxins on 12/31/09 so the world gov't can ban anything @ anytime, especially healing foods that take $ from medical industry

  • Its a Deliberate Dumbing Down of Society, its called the New World Order, Dumb People are easier to Lead then those thatare alert and Smart, HENCE the CORRUPT FDA< AND EPA..

  • STFU?

  • great, but why are you hiding in a cupboard?

  • Great video, Tony. I look forward to seeing more like this from you in the future.

Wheat allergies are also suspect with ADD symptoms in children.

  • one more thing look at my vid at the end of it i have something for you.

  • if you go to walmart you will not find any good heathy food their but if you go to a health food store you can buy great food and for a one time fee you get every thing half price . i think its like $200 but it last a year or 2. thank you and good luck

  • When you read the label on a chocolate bar or chocolate syrup, the ingredient listed as 'flavor' NOT 'natural flavor', but 'flavor' or 'artificial flavor' actually suppresses thyroid function. Look it up on Wikipedia - the truth is out there - you just have to look for it.

  • It is possible to make your own candy and whatnot.. you don't need to get it from a chemical plant..

  • thanks alot for this vid,its very informative,i have recently cut ASPARTAME out of my diet and im going to cut out MSG.this is hard cause im like the super size me guy but my emotional and physical position is much more important than a quick GLUTAMATE or HYDROLYZED PROTEINfix.i sometimes feel emotionaly unstable and i didn't know why, everyone seems to think its cannabis but i think its my diet and msg addiction(i also eat alot of calcium)and i am looking 4ward to being free of these additives

  • In a few weeks, and even better in a few months, you will not miss it much..

The basis of how food and drink can be "addictive" is thru brain chemical processes, the brain is easily spoiled and wants more, it's like a person inside you that nags you thru some internal channel..

  • Hi Tony!!! it is a great video, and the thig that U are doing is unvaluable for some people like me that are studyng Special Ed. here in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. I let know some friends about Ur videos in this page.

  • Great video. Please make more.

  • If you have questions please email me. My son is on a colorant and preservative free diet and it makes a HUGE difference behaviorially. Like night and day or the difference between sleeping the night or not. Oh that and increased awareness and speech, no longer a safety risk or a bolter. I can get you info and real studies and even hook you up with a parent geoup in your area mimi

  • Everything everything has corn syrup in it, and many many foods that we do not think of as "processed" have additives. So many times I read or hear that people "can't afford" to buy organic food but I would rather consider that an investment in my children to give them what is healthy and if possible locally grown! It DOES matter! Thanks for posting!

  • Was there a "controllgroup" with NTs?

  • It was kind of you to take the time to share this info. Thanks.

  • There are very few 'universal poisons' such as Thimerosal, refined sugar, and Pesticides. So every individual needs to be muscle tested individually to assess how much damage he/she has received from chemical exposure. Discard the stigma- people aren't choosing right: refined sugar is bad for everyone. If you feed mammals, like rats, with refined sugar they become aggressive, angry, and die of chronic diseases.

  • The amount of dyes used in the study was very small, even though the 4 ounces of candy you showed seemed like a lot. It's not a good comparison since most of the candy weight is from sugar and the dyes in the study were added to drinks. Please remember that the children in the study were not getting dyes in their cereal, beverage, vitamins, medicine, toothpaste, mac & cheese, etc.

  • All good points. I think we should find safe substitutes for the dyes and preservatives, and regulate them closely. No china!

  • I agree with you! The good news is that there already are safe substitutes for these things. I have volunteered to assemble holiday Goodie Baskets filled with beautiful (naturally) colored and flavored lollipops, M&M-type candies, jelly beans, gummy bears, plus red & white candy canes are so beautiful you would not be able to tell them apart from the synthetic ones.

  • Exactly! Any corporate or commercial chemical which is added to boost "flavor" should really be a red flag. Whats wrong with the natural? It's cheating to simulate the real thing, regardless of the drawbacks...

Our meek growing children VS Corporate approved excitotoxins.. no contest

  • @atwhite57 DONT BE SO RACIST. i like china and rice

  • Children are ostracized because the behave badly not because they avoid eating dyes.

Since most dyes originate in petroleum refineries in China, and have been found to cause damaging health effects, including cancer, the question should be "Why feed your kids petrochemicals that are known to be damaging?"

  • We are now doing homeschool. Do the foodcoloring test we have for 5 yrs. 60% does help! Spend time with your son w/his interests involve him in activities. Good book "The Survival Guide for kids w/ADD or ADHD" by J.F. Taylor So What! what other people think it is in his best interest RIGHT! Good Luck!

  • My husband and I have had our son on this diet for 5 yrs. See it in the long run. You are more worried about how people are going to see you more than your son.don't get caught up in the small details.teach him social issues doing laundry, washing dishes, taking out the trash. I worry too about my son and because of that I experienced alot of heartache my son was not happy in school.

  • so, when are you going to come out of the closet?

  • Welcome back to Youtube! You have a lot of good things to say and I've missed hearing them.

  • Tony, you're the man. We missed you.

You always find intersting things to discuss. What I like most is that you stick to the science instead of getting caught up in the emotional side of causation.

To quote your Mother, our Mothers: "You are what you eat."

  • Thanks. I'm glad to be back. I agree with your mom.

  • You addressed one of my criticisms with this study. That is the amount of additives they had. It's like when they pumped tons of coffee sweetener into lab rats everyday for months and concluded that it causes cancer. My other question is how do they know it was the colorings and additives? Were other parts of the children's diets and lifestyles monitored to rule out these possibilities?

  • I agree that they did not take food histories to compare the amount of dye that the children actually ate compared with the experiment. The "candy" measure tells you it is in the range of possible. There are certainly many other possibilites which may affect behavior, but the bad stuff was compared to a control drink.

  • BTW, sodium benzoate is in most soda.

  • No real shock. They were blaming processed foods when I was a kid. It's kind of amazing that 40 years later someone is finally doing a study - even then they did not try to isolate the offending substances.

  • But this will spur further work.

  • mankind is using itself as test subjects. for thousands of years man ate the food he was designed to eat, but in the last 50 years we have added so many chemicals we were never designed to eat into our diets. i feel that the long term effects are now being seen more and more in the form of childhood dev. delays. And of course disease including obesity

  • Its like smoking. You can smoke a pack a day for a month and nothing happens. but after 40 years what have you done to your body. Our bodies were not designed for all the chemicals we pump into them. I doubt there were Twinkies in the Garden of Eden.

  • I agree. It is a frightening idea, but maybe it's true. In the past scientists have deemed things to be safe if they did not cause cancer. What about brain function? We are just starting to look at this. Everything my children eat comes out of a box. This is terrifying to me, but it is our culture.

  • And it is also how many of us grew up. is this a thing where it gets progressivly worse with each generation? Not to mention the hormones in milk, untested vaccinations and toxins in the environment. Mankind as a whole is like a ten year old child, very shortsighted. Never worried about long term ramifications of anything we do.

  • Thanks! These are good reasons to stick to non-processed whole foods at home, organic if possible. If kids get other stuff when they're out and about (no stigma to worry about), at least its a lesser accumulation of the additives than if they were getting them at home as well.

  • I agree. We do what we can.

  • @atwhite57: A small greenhouse garden would be a fun project I think.

Takes up time, so only a traditional household could sustain such.

Onions/Leeks, garlic, oregano, potatoes, cabbages, and most types of squash are easy cold weather to grow. Perhaps chick-peas and lentils too.

Chickens and Rabbits are nice and manageable.

You can also make your own plastics with starches, corn starch, oil, water, makes nice resine.
