yes NorwayLaughs, it would work with any webcam (probably) but logitech are greedy and force you to buy their webcams to use it

Jokersbell is right, it's not that hard to get into someone's computer to view the person's webcam without being seen or traced. it's not being paranoid, it's being smart. don't take our word for it, do a google search. havent you heard about those dudes that hacked into that dumb chick's cellphone and was able to watch what she was doing through the camera on it? go search, it's not hard to find.

the point i'm trying to make is if it connects to the internet, it can be hacked, paris hilton's blackberry got hacked with no effort and her personal pics got stolen, address book got stolen and they wound up online for people to snag. i think all it takes is someone to get your ip address and then you're screwed. i really don't know how all that works but it can be done. so if you have a webcam, unplug it when you're not using it or get rid of it all together. nobody is truely safe online.

Hardly a "1 click" operation, and any that don't use this techinique are forced to employ a hell of alot more than "1 click" simply because they don't have a pretty api to readily talk to.

Keep your software updated, and don't download stupid sh** off people that you don't know

i wasn't comparing anyone with anyone, i was just saying that it's not hard to get inside someone's "whatever". as for paris, they got her data because someone got her number from somewhere and they called pretending to be her service and asked her to confirm her passwords. i mean there are people in china that were able to hack into the pentagon... yes, our pentagon, google it. all it takes is a little know-how and it can be done. nobody is truely safe.

Taking some common cautious willl go a long ways to protecting you. Also, if your too afraid of using a webcam then shouldn't you be too afraid of using a computer, bank account, and a cellphone as well? i don't use a webcam because i really don't have a need for one, i don't feel like i have to let people (strangers in most cases) see what i look like, i guess im just not cool enough to need one. and cellphones are a joke too unless you use one for emergencies like if your car breaks down in the middle of the desert. there isn't anyone i need to talk to when i'm out and about. yes, some people have to have them for their job if they're on call but i have no need for one.

Yeah, I was using that web-cam-search [dot] com to find webcams in peoples' houses. It's surprising how many people install them and then forget all about them. I was able to control some guy's webcam until his kid noticed it moving and freaked out.
