Quick, let's get a Tranquilizer gun, wait 5-10 minutes for the sedative to work and help him!" NO! That's not how things work. He was seconds from dying and they shot the lion to save a human being's life.
It's unfortunate the cat had to be shot, but a mistake like that doesn't mean that man deserves to be eaten alive by that animal.
