When I first played this video, my wife in the next room swore that I listening to Pearl Bailey! Such a command of voice, inflection and phrasing---and it shows how much she tried to please the audience. When she sang this tune, one could see that she put her all into it. So damned tragic, what 6 years of unbridled drug-and-alcohol abuse did to this artist. This is Amy Winehouse that I choose to remember, not the teetering-on-the-brink persona that she became at the end of her life....

The people calling her names before and the ones praising her now aren't necessarily the same people. That would be a mistaken assumption. The ones speaking now are (most likely) the ones who did not defend her when she was alive. And it would've been difficult to defend someone that was so completely self-destructive and hellbent on oblivion. In all likelihood, there was probably some kind of bipolar or personality disorder that she battled with, and that simply added to her internal demons.

I missed this Amy, it was no surprise when she ended up sadly passing away...I had hope and faith that she would recover and bless us with much more of her magnificent music. Only two albums and yet it felt as if she gave us a whole different realm of amazing music...That's rare for an artist to do that and still keep themselves relevant. I never fronted on Amy's talent, but I knew she was doomed, and not in that I've seen this pop culture tragedy before way. At 32 I've enough drugs to see when someone has crossed over and isn't coming back. I can only imagine how amplified that shit gets when you're famous. When she went on stage in Serbia she was the walking dead. She was a drug zombie imminently about to expire. It was one of the saddest things I've witnessed in a long time.

The people calling her names before and the ones praising her now aren't necessarily the same people. That would be a mistaken assumption. The ones speaking now are (most likely) the ones who did not defend her when she was alive. And it would've been difficult to defend someone that was so completely self-destructive and hellbent on oblivion. In all likelihood, there was probably some kind of bipolar or personality disorder that she battled with, and that simply added to her internal demons.
