  • i mean what the f°°°? we get like 6 torrent for the latest DC or (beuuuuurk) Image output, and NOTHING.... for RAW ??? i mean, come on, it's not like fantagraphics owned the whole of it, you know it had a life of its own..... LET ME SEE THOSE RAW back issues PLEASE????

  • @allaanmoorre oh gawd how I must see those Raw. URGES

  • being an artist is not (necessarily) about being happy. being obsessed is a heavy burden and very demanding. it demands a lot of sacrifice. quite often artists are not fun people to be around. although i know only a little about Chris Ware it seems that he is quite obsessed with his work. it might be that he has a totally different persona away from the studio. my guess is that he doesn't and couldn't. maybe he wouldn't even want to.

all we can do is appreciate what he is doing.

  • Pal you rock for uploading this interview. keep the good job

  • Immensive thanks to adamkempa for providing this interview on YouTube!

  • DITTO!

  • I was fortunate to meet Chris. he spoke at my comics class in college. he was actually a lot more witty and funny in person. he didnt shy away from people. I feel very fortunate.

  • well stated.

  • Chris Ware - "the Woody Allen of comics"

  • That's insulting to Chris Ware!

  • I am also intrigued by all the comments that question his general outlook, an outlook that I've heard echoed by people of great skill in many trades, not just art. Engineers, politicians, tradesmen... I think it is just that cartoonists work in a trade that makes the internal external.

  • Many of these comments command others to be happy, even Mr. Ware himself (and chances are he's not going to see these). He said that he's almost at the place at drawing where he was when he was a boy. Picasso had that. How many of us artists have that? Happiness is a construct.

  • I met Chris Ware and I was very much affected by him. His manner, which you can clearly see in these videos, left me feeling somewhat depressed. At the time, I was pursuing a career in art and here was a guy who is very successful and works very hard, yet does not appear to be happy or fulfilled. That was somewhat discouraging.

  • chris ware is the shit the more depressing he is the better

  • its never easy to tell and show the story at the same time through the draws we make. it takes so much time...

but man pls! I got depressed watching you talk...

    your great! smile a little...

Im happy that im going to show my work here on youtube

so ppl can judge me and my stories.

Be happy men! thats all you can do to enjoy life.

cartoon world its great. But not everything...

  • when your drawing a comix its not like writing a book

the story , the pictures , the emotions everything has to come out of you and when you draw it you loose track of the world it self.

I cant eve have my girlfriend sit at any place close to me because I feel that im ignoring them and I have to ask them to leave so I can continue the work.

  • Dude! your drawings are amazing and very complex!

you are loved by everyone in the comix world and you are an inspiration to many people!

WHY ARE YOU SO DEPRESSING! SHOW SOME HAPPY FACE IN YOUR LIFE! THATS VERY IMPORTANT TO!

i mean i am a cartoonist my self not as great as you but I can understand all the things you said

  • Chris Ware, you are an amazing person. Thank you so much for sharing your art. You are a true inspiration. Be happy.

  • He's got such an intense inferiority complex. It's a bit sad. He doesn't think much of himself, but he's really the most amazing comic book artist I've ever seen. I think Jimmy Corrigan is a bit like him; based on him perhaps.

I couldn't stop nodding, everything Chris Ware says is true. It's wonderful.
