The Carmen character is pretty brave and holds out for what she wants, I mean you have to admire that. Losing weight just to be popular is just plain stupid but doing it for yourself is great.

there have been national studies done, and the average U.S. household has 2.5 kids. when somebody says that's what they want they mean (i think) that they want what they think the average household has: cute home, nice marriage, 2.5 kids, the white picket fence, etc. They want what they think they don't have - a little normalcy.
