Homosexuality is not anymore unnatural than heterosexuality, just less common. Natural law is so silly. The APA has already done tons of studies on gay parents, and they've found no measurable difference between kids with gay and straight parents. Gay parents have just as much ability to raise good kids!
Tradition for tradition's sake is for pansies. Tradition for tradition's sake makes NO SENSE whatsoever! If we want to advance as a society, we are going to have to dump some ridiculous traditions that have no basis in fact. Why did humanity think homosexuality is 'evil' or sinful for 1000s of years? Well, they were extremely conservative and intolerant and stupid. People fear what they do not understand. Conservatives think their fear of gays is ok, but it's not. It's irrational.
In fact, there have been MANY well-known gay and bisexual people in history. SEVERAL cultures and civilizations, in fact, have been PRO-GAY. When the conquistadors arrived in Mesoamerica, many Aztecs were seen sodomizing each other. Many Native American societies have berdaches, effeminate men who dress up like women but are accepted. Native American tribes oftentimes called LBGT members "two-spirited." I could go on and on. Hell, there was a well-known gay couple in ancient Egypt.
I am ashamed that 70% of blacks voted against gay marriage in California. How could you be so fucking hypocritical? And then you use this copout answer: "Oh, but gay rights isn't a civil rights issue like black power." What baloney! Do you know how hard it is to be gay in this country, STILL? No matter what race you are, being gay is still very offensive to a lot of intolerant folks, esp. in very conservative areas. Gay people have a very hard time in conservative areas.
Even not-so-conservative areas aren't always quite so receptive to LGBT people. The bigotry and intolerance of homosexuals is what leads a lot of them to commit suicide. They just can't take it, being condemned by church leaders and thought of as less than human by classmates or family members. It's so ridiculous. We've come so far in terms of rights for women, blacks, and all other minority groups, but the LBGT community is still marginalized. And why? Silly old traditions. Fuck tradition
Why are blacks hipocret? Because they defend their morals and values? Gay marriage and civil rights are two different things. Don't mix apples and oranges here.
The idiot who wrote the video description has his facts all wrong. I don't know where to begin! 70% illegitimacy rates among blacks is the reason gay marriage shouldn't be allowed?? What kind of asinine nonsense is that? This is illegitimacy AMONG STRAIGHT PEOPLE!! It has nothing to do with gays. Why don't you get your own houses in order before you go around judging everyone else, esp. gays? It sickens me how intolerant 60% of Americans still are. This is 2008! Grow up! Stop insecurity.
the diverse family forms adults choose ARE equally good...there is no evidence that same sex parents are bad for a child's development...you know at one point the morally obtuse world you speak of thought owning slaves and scalping native americans for profit was okay..think about it
Too late for my husband--sorry--EX-husband, who had shoulder surgery scheduled for after Thanksgiving--now cancelled because he no longer has health insurance.
Will you please write to Obama and ask him to hurry up with your "solution," frencham?
What same-sex "marriage" has done to Massachusetts
It's far worse than most people realize
October 20, 2008
by Brian Camenker
Anyone who thinks that same-sex marriage is a benign eccentricity which wont affect the average person should consider what it has done in Massachusetts. Its become a hammer to force the acceptance and normalization of homosexuality on everyone. And this train is moving fast. What has happened so far is only the beginning.
On November 18, 2003, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court announced its Goodridge opinion, ruling that it was unconstitutional not to allow same-sex marriage. Six months later, homosexual marriages began to be performed.
The public schools
The homosexual marriage onslaught in public schools across the state started soon after the November 2003, court decision.
At my own children's high school there was a school-wide assembly to celebrate same-sex marriage in early December, 2003. It featured an array of speakers, including teachers at the school who announced that they would be marrying their same-sex partners and starting families either through adoption or artificial insemination. Literature on same-sex marriage how it is now a normal part of society was handed out to the students.
Within months it was brought into the middle schools. In September, 2004, an 8th-grade teacher in Brookline, MA, told National Public Radio that the marriage ruling had opened up the floodgates for teaching homosexuality.
In my mind, I know that, `OK, this is legal now.' If somebody wants to challenge me, I'll say, `Give me a break. It's legal now,' she told NPR. She added that she now discusses gay sex with her students as explicitly as she desires. For example, she said she tells the kids that lesbians can have vaginal intercourse using sex toys.
By the following year it was in elementary school curricula. Kindergartners were given picture books telling them that same-sex couples are just another kind of family, like their own parents. In 2005, when David Parker of Lexington, MA a parent of a kindergartner strongly insisted on being notified when teachers were discussing homosexuality or transgenderism with his son, the school had him arrested and put in jail overnight.
Second graders at the same school were read a book, King and King, about two men who have a romance and marry each other, with a picture of them kissing. When parents Rob and Robin Wirthlin complained, they were told that the school had no obligation to notify them or allow them to opt-out their child.
In 2006 the Parkers and Wirthlins filed a federal Civil Rights lawsuit to force the schools to notify parents and allow them to opt-out their elementary-school children when homosexual-related subjects were taught. The federal judges dismissed the case.
The federal judges dismissed the case. The judges ruled that because same-sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts, the school actually had a duty to normalize homosexual relationships to children, and that schools have no obligation to notify parents or let them opt-out their children! Acceptance of homosexuality had become a matter of good citizenship!
Think about that: Because same-sex marriage is legal, a federal judge has ruled that the schools now have a duty to portray homosexual relationships as normal to children, despite what parents think or believe!
In 2006, in the elementary school where my daughter went to Kindergarten, the parents of a third-grader were forced to take their child out of school because a man undergoing a sex-change operation and cross-dressing was being brought into class to teach the children that there are now different kinds of families. School officials told the mother that her complaints to the principal were considered inappropriate behavior.
School libraries across the state, from elementary school to high school, now have shelves of books to normalize homosexual behavior and the lifestyle in the minds of kids, some of them quite explicit and even pornographic. Parents complaints are ignored or met with hostility.
Over the past year, homosexual groups have been using taxpayer money to distribute a large, slick hardcover book celebrating homosexual marriage titled Courting Equality into every school library in the state.
Its become commonplace in Massachusetts schools for teachers to prominently display photos of their same-sex spouses and occasionally bring them to school functions. Both high schools in my own town now have principals who are married to their same-sex partners, whom they bring to school and introduce to the students.
Gay days in schools are considered necessary to fight intolerance which may exist against same-sex relationships. Hundreds of high schools and even middle schools across the state now hold gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender appreciation days. They celebrate homosexual marriage and move forward to other behaviors such as cross-dressing and transsexuality. In my own town, a school committee member recently announced that combating homophobia is now a top priority.
Once homosexuality has been normalized, all boundaries will come down. The schools are already moving on to normalizing transgenderism (including cross-dressing and sex changes). The state-funded Commission on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Youth includes leaders who are transsexuals.
The Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health is married to another man. In 2007 he told a crowd of kids at a state-sponsored youth event that its wonderful being gay and he wants to make sure theres enough HIV testing available for all of them.
Since homosexual marriage became legal the rates of HIV / AIDS have gone up considerably in Massachusetts. This year public funding to deal with HIV/AIDS has risen by $500,000.
Citing the right to marry as one of the important challenges in a place where its a great time to be gay,
the Massachusetts Department of Public Health helped produce The Little Black Book, Queer in the 21st Century, a hideous work of obscene pornography which was given to kids at Brookline High School on April 30, 2005. Among other things, it gives tips to boys on how to perform oral sex on other males, masturbate other males, and how to safely have someone urinate on you for sexual pleasure. It also included a directory of bars in Boston where young men meet for anonymous sex.
Given the extreme dysfunctional nature of homosexual relationships, the Massachusetts Legislature has felt the need to spend more money every year to deal with skyrocketing homosexual domestic violence. This year $350,000 was budgeted, up $100,000 from last year.
All insurance in Massachusetts must now recognize same-sex married couples in their coverage. This includes auto insurance, health insurance, life insurance, etc.
Businesses must recognize same-sex married couples in all their benefits, activities, etc., regarding both employees and customers.
The wedding industry is required serve the homosexual community if requested. Wedding photographers, halls, caterers, etc., must do same-sex marriages or be arrested for discrimination.
Businesses are often tested for tolerance by homosexual activists. Groups of homosexual activists often go into restaurants or bars and publicly kiss and fondle each other to test whether the establishment demonstrates sufficient equality — now that homosexual marriage is legal. In fact, more and more overt displays of homosexual affection are seen in public places across the state to reinforce "marriage equality".
The Massachusetts Bar Exam now tests lawyers on their knowledge of same-sex "marriage" issues. In 2007, a Boston man, Stephen Dunne, failed the Massachusetts bar exam because he refused to answer the questions in it about homosexual marriage.
Issues regarding homosexual families are now firmly entrenched in the Massachusetts legal system. In many firms, lawyers in Massachusetts practicing family law must now attend seminars on homosexual "marriage". There are also now several homosexual judges overseeing the Massachusetts family courts.
Adoption of children to homosexual married couples
Homosexual married couples can now demand to be able to adopt children the same as normal couples. Catholic Charities decided to abandon handling adoptions rather submit to regulations requiring them to allow homosexuals to adopt the children in their care.
In 2004, Governor Mitt Romney ordered Justices of the Peace to perform homosexual marriages when requested or be fired. At least one Justice of the Peace decided to resign.
Also thanks to Gov. Romney, marriage licenses in Massachusetts now have Party A and Party B instead of husband and wife. Romney did not have a legal requirement to do this; he did it on his own. (See more on this below.)
In 2008 Massachusetts changed the state Medicare laws to include homosexual married couples in the coverage.
Since homosexual relationships are now officially normal, the Legislature now gives enormous tax money to homosexual activist groups. In particular, the Massachusetts Commission on Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender Youth is made up of the most radical and militant homosexual groups which target children in the schools. This year they are getting $700,000 of taxpayer money to go into the public schools.
Since gay marriage, annual gay pride parades have become more prominent. There are more politicians and corporations participating, and even police organizations take part
There is now a profane Dyke March through downtown Boston, and recently a transgender parade in Northampton that included bare-chested women who have had their breasts surgically removed so they could become men. Governor Patrick even marched with his out lesbian 17-year old daughter in the 2008 Boston Pride event, right behind a leather group brandishing a black & blue flag, whips and chains!
Boston media, particularly the Boston Globe newspaper, regularly does feature stories and news stories portraying homosexual married couples where regular married couples would normally be used. Its equal, they insist, so there must be no difference in the coverage. Also, the newspaper advice columns now deal with homosexual "marriage" issues, and how to properly accept it.
Like everywhere else in America, the imposition of same-sex marriage on the people of Massachusetts was a combination of radical, arrogant judges and pitifully cowardly politicians.
The Goodridge ruling resulted in a complete cave-in by politicians of both parties on this issue.
Same-sex marriage is still illegal in Massachusetts. On November 18, 2003 the court merely ruled that it was unconstitutional not to allow it, and gave the Legislature six months to take such action as it may deem appropriate. Note that the Massachusetts Constitution strongly denies courts the power to make or change laws, or from ordering the other branches to take any action. The constitution effectively bans judicial review a court changing or nullifying a law.
Thus, the court did not order anything to happen; it simply rendered an opinion on that specific case. And the Legislature did nothing. The marriage statutes were never changed. However, against the advice of many, Gov. Romney took it upon himself to alter the state's marriage licenses to say "Party A and Party B" and order officials to perform same-sex "weddings" if asked, though he had no legal obligation to do so. Technically, same-sex marriages are still illegal in Massachusetts.
Nevertheless, we are having to live with it. And furthermore, this abdication of their proper constitutional roles by the Legislature and Governor has caused a domino effect as "copycat" rulings have been issued in California and Connecticut, with other states fearful it will happen there.
I Research shows that homosexual relationships are fundamentally dysfunctional on many levels, and marriage as we know it isnt something they can achieve, or even desire. (In fact, over the last three months, the Sunday Boston Globes marriage section hasnt had any photos of homosexual marriages. In the beginning it was full of them.)
What in the hell does marraige between any two consenting adults have to do with protecting children? Not a damned thing. Don't you yes on 8 zombies realize that the Mormon cult supported prop 22and went against the equal rights amendment? The Mormon church defining gay marriage? Are you nuts? Brigham Young married two of his freaking neices. THis Prop has nothing to do with children, nothing to do with schools. YOU ARE BRAINWASHED AND UNABLE TO THINK FOR YOURSELVES GET A GRIP!
This is about putting the legal stamp of approval on homosexuality and imposing it with force throughout the various social and political institutions of a society that would never accept it otherwise. To the rest of America: You've been forewarned.
Proposition 8 says your marriage is more important than mine
Proposition 8 says it's OK to use our state constitution as a weapon for discrimination and bigotry and Californians will not have any part of that! Why do you think there's an urgent call for your side to raise millions more??? Because your side is losing! And they are losing because they are dead wrong on this issue!
your arguments are the same that racists used to continue slavery, and avoid women from voting. times change, you either change with them, or you continue to live in a century from the past. it's your choice.
BTW: adam and eve never married. they had two sons out of wedlock. since adam was the first man, and eve, the first woman ... i've always wondered if eve eventually had daughters, and if cain and able had to have sex with their sisters to procreate the human race?
We are here, we are getting married, and we'll fight for our rights for the rest of our lives ... and if you want to be known as a person who denies rights to others, that's your business, but your religious beliefs have no place in our state constitution!
Jeff: you have very good argumentsregarding your own personal pleasures but you have to look what is right for civilisation and society.
Of course you have the right to do what you want but leading children towards a gay lifestyle is something that parents object to. So take advantage of the same rights
that the state of CA gives you through civil union.
Marriage is a legal matter as you need a license first. And divorce is a legal procedure as well. As such, it is government's duty to guarantee equality of all under the law. The separation of church and state allows churches to be able to not perform gay marriages and believe it is against their religion. If you want the church to make the laws, the church should also pay taxes. Two people you don't know getting married in a service you are unaware of will not affect you in any way at all.
someone told me today some people are married to their car, some to their work, some to their art or passion so where do we stop for the definition of marriage?
and which one is the one we can teach our children?
SOMEDAY everyone involved in the YES campaign will be ashamed that they ever were.
(Just like those who were AGAINST women's rights and those who were FOR slavery.
)
It's not up to your neighbor to tell you who you can and can't marry!
Free will is the most important part of being an american. Freedom to marry who we want to, to join the religion we want to, to kiss who we want to, to love who we want to, to preach what we want to. Preserve the right to be free!
Another crazed religious fundamentalist that wants religious dogma written into the California Constitution, doesn't believe in 3 equal branches of government and doesn't believe in equal protection under the law or due process. "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in an American flag and carrying a cross" - Sinclair Lewis 1935
Why do all these Yes on Prop 8 videos make me think of the Simpsons character Helen Lovejoy, the gossipy wife of Reverened Lovejoy, screaming "Won't somebody please think of the children!?"
Great point. Notice how no prop 8 supporters can answer you. They aren't up in arms about legalized divorce. They aren't complaining that adultery is legal. Not a peep. Their movement is against gays and cloaked in marriage rhetoric. The worst thing is that they are using legislation and government force to control other people's behavior...at at time when government needs to be smaller. *sigh*
Marriage as a human institution is constantly evolving, and many of its features vary across groups and cultures. But there is one constant. In all societies, marriage shapes the rights and obligations of parenthood. Among us humans, the scholars report, marriage is not primarily a license to have sex. Nor is it primarily a license to receive benefits or social recognition. It is primarily a license to have children.
Wait, you want gay marriage to be illegal because it is confusing to your children? Divorce is confusing to kids, should divorce be illegal? More importantly, gay marriage isn't confusing to kids. They understand love.
Plus, how does gay marriage make civil marriage meaningless? How does someone else's marriage effect yours? Does someone else's divorce make you get divorced? Do arranged marriages make you want an arranged marriage?
Children ARE confused by the issue! Frances committee representing both sides CAREFULLY investigate & review the FACTS surrounding same-sex couples & kids. Some liberals argued against their findings, but bottom line: Parliament said the rights of children were more important EVEN if they were in conflict with the parents LIFESTYLE CHOICES. France PROHIBITS same-sex marriage, same-sex adoption, and anything that would bring children into a fatherless home! Family: Mother, Father, Children!
My children aren't confused. Well, they don't understand why you would not want two adults who love each other to not be able to get married. Other than that, it isn't a bit confusing.
The fact that your kids are confused should NOT be a reason for you to use the government to regulate the behavior of consenting adults.
My kids are adults and I dont have any grandkids yet, but I work with several youth groups (some church, some civil) and this subject really is confusing to them. There is a LOT of research that verifies that too! We are not proposing that 2 people who love each other cant form a union. We just dont want that union to be called marriage unless the 2 people are of the opposite sex. Marriage to us is sacred. The definition for centuries has been legally between opposite sexes. Restore Marriage!
Restore marriage? If Noah and Moses existed, they supposedly had many wives at the same time. Are you for that tradition? Marriage was also traditionally arranged to unite families and increase power. Restore that? Men married just to get women to take care of their kids. Traditional?
Bottomline though: Churches perform gay marriages. Our government may not support one religion over others. So, we must recognize the marriages between consenting adults in all churches, not just some.
The definition of marriage, until recently, has ALWAYS been between opposite sexes. Yes, there have been laws on who could or could not marry. Interracial, Polygamy but the spouses have always been of the opposite sex. Arranged marriage between same-sex couples? I dont think so! We are not trying to discriminate against same-sex couples. We are trying to Protect & Preserve Marriage which has had deep religious meaning far longer than its been a legal shortcut to Federal tax benefits.
You admit that marriage is evolving. It is now based on love and in the past, it was not. If love is the basis for contemporary marriage, then same sex consenting adults who love each other can be married. To some, LOVE is sacred. So ask yourself this, what is more sacred, love, or the word marriage? Marriage evolves, so love is clearly more important.
How about focusing on your own marriage and kids and leave other consenting adults get married. That's fair and promotes liberty (GO USA!).
That's not what I said! Marriage is NOT EVOLVING marriage is a Covenant between God 1 man & 1 woman & that has NEVER changed & NEVER will CHANGE! Man may have changed the rules some, by allowing a man to be married to more than one woman at the same time or a woman to be married to more than one man at a time but each marriage has ALWAYS been between opposite sexes, the same is true of interracial marriage. Marriage is part of Gods laws which are eternal and unchanging. One Nation Under GOD!
Polygamy (Noah, Moses, Soloman, etc...). Now monogomy. Arranged marriage or marriage out of necessity has evolved only in the last 100 years to be marriage based on love
Don't restore traditional marriage!
"When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and ... its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one." Ben Franklin.
E pluribus unum - the traditional motto of the U.S.A.!
You didnt really read my comments very closely, did you? That last comment you posted isnt even a response to my points, just the same old rhetoric you have given before. Vive La France! At least they prohibit same-sex marriage, adoption, and medically assisted reproduction for same sex couples. Thank you Ben, for paving the way for true Christianity to be restored.
you said same sex marriage is not traditional. I agree. But, neither is the marriage of today. See all my examples and do some research about how marriage is very different today (not counting same sex mar.) You don't want traditional marriage. You just want to stop same sex marriage. You also don't want Christianity restored to the days of death by stoning, repressed women, slavery, and archaic Mosaic laws. You simply hate that some gays get married and will use the government to get your way.
Forget mankinds perversions, I do want Marriage to be restored to the way GOD created it, between man and wife. I also want His church restored to that level of perfection too, in its purest form, not mans twists, misinterpretations & corruptions. The people in Moses day couldnt or wouldnt obey Gods laws so he made it simpler for them, to see if they could handle that. As for gays getting married I do object to them using the sacred term. My uncle had a life partner, & thats fine by me.
You can have YOUR religious beliefs, choose YOUR church and YOUR marriage. But don't use the government to take from others. Is your specific religion so weak it needs the government to make ALL obey it?
Just who was the first, most pure married couple? Who was the 2nd? How do you know? And, how do you know which was the most pure form of a church? Was it AD or BC? And what is your evidence? How do you know what churches and marriages were like then? Keep the new love-based marriage for all!
Support love. It's simple. Tell those kids that if two adults love each other and want to use the institution of marriage to become one for the rest of their lives, they should be allowed to do it. If marriage is great, allow gays to participate.
Also, explain how important liberty, love, and personal responsibility are to us.
Wow, lots of opinions on raising your kids! I imagine other parents have different ideas about raising theirs. I know I do.
But Prop 8 does NOTHING to change parental or adoption rights for gay couples (or singles, for that matter). All it does is take the kids in those families you consider abnormal and revoke their parents' CURRENT marriages. Plus, of course, cause considerable emotional and financial turmoil for those families.
Do you REALLY care about kids, or do you just like to rant?
What are we to do? It seems that it only gets worse. On job applications right after you choose male or female, you will have to check a box for straight or gay! We need help in this country. God needs to squirt a big bottle of hand sanitizer on this earth
... Yet the larger empirical literature on child well-being suggests that the two sexes bring different talents to the parenting enterprise, and that children benefit from growing up with both their biological parents. ...
Over the pas few decades, we have experimented with various alternatives to marriage, and the evidence is now clear: children raised in married, intact families generally do better in every area of life than those raised in various alternatives family structures. Those who care about the well being of children - as every citizen should - should care about the health of modern marriage.
Sara McLanahan and Gary Sandefur, sociologists at Princeton and Wisconsin respectively, sum up the reason that marriage matters for children in this way :
"...The fact that both parents have a biological connection to the child would increase the likelihood that the parents would identify with the child and be willing to sacrifice for that child, and it would reduce the likelihood that either parent would abuse the child" .
"Marriage is neither a conservative nor a liberal issue; it is a universal human institution, guaranteeing children fathers, and pointing men and women toward a special kind of socially as well as personally fruitful sexual relationship. Gay marriage is the final step down a long road America has already traveled toward deinstitutionalizing, denuding and privatizing marriage. It would set in legal stone some of the most destructive ideas of the sexual revolution:
There are no differences between men and women that matter, marriage has nothing to do with procreation, children do not really need mothers and fathers, the diverse family forms adults choose are all equally good for children. What happens in my heart is that I know the difference. Don't confuse my people, who have been the victims of deliberate family destruction, by giving them another definition of marriage."
I would be so ashamed to use my child to put forth a message of hate. Prop 8 is the first amendment in California history that would take away rights instead of adding to them.
It's the first statewide attempt since internment of the Japanese to single out one group of people to have their civil rights revoked.
State your support for Prop 8 and your reasons, if you have any, but why not leave the innocent kids out of it?
There are hundreds of exceptions--some small, some huge.
Interstate reciprocity is for marriage only, and is not covered by CFC 297. If I land in the hospital, my husband can make medical decisions for me. If 8 passes, on Weds. morning he will become a stranger in the eyes of the law and the doctors will have to start searching for my "other" next-of-kin."
frencham says: "There are no exceptions to this (CFC 297)."
Bull.
My husband loses his health insurance Wednesday morning if Prop 8 passes because the company I work for legally covers spouses but not domestic partners, as per CA Family Code 297.5(g). Private enterprise is exempted from this section, which regulates public accommodation only. Only 18% of insurers cover Domestic Partners, while 100% cover same-sex AND opposite-sex spouses.
why though? there was no REASON to that advert

Rights different for MARRIAGE:
* Spouses can change family name without court order.
* Parenthood of same-sex couples threatened if family moves out of CA.
* Dom Partners must share a domicile; not spouses. (297(b.1, c).
* After DP's death home values can be reassessed (meaning property taxes can skyrocket).
* Public employees excluded from long-term care insurance [Sec 297.5(g).]
Why lie about this inequality, french? To make voters feel less squeamish about voting for discrimination?
Say NO!

What same-sex "marriage" has done to Massachusetts
It's far worse than most people realize
October 20, 2008
by Brian Camenker
Anyone who thinks that same-sex marriage is a benign eccentricity which wont affect the average person should consider what it has done in Massachusetts. Its become a hammer to force the acceptance and normalization of homosexuality on everyone. And this train is moving fast. What has happened so far is only the beginning.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
On November 18, 2003, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court announced its Goodridge opinion, ruling that it was unconstitutional not to allow same-sex marriage. Six months later, homosexual marriages began to be performed.
The public schools
The homosexual marriage onslaught in public schools across the state started soon after the November 2003, court decision.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
At my own children's high school there was a school-wide assembly to celebrate same-sex marriage in early December, 2003. It featured an array of speakers, including teachers at the school who announced that they would be marrying their same-sex partners and starting families either through adoption or artificial insemination. Literature on same-sex marriage how it is now a normal part of society was handed out to the students.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Within months it was brought into the middle schools. In September, 2004, an 8th-grade teacher in Brookline, MA, told National Public Radio that the marriage ruling had opened up the floodgates for teaching homosexuality.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
In my mind, I know that, `OK, this is legal now.' If somebody wants to challenge me, I'll say, `Give me a break. It's legal now,' she told NPR. She added that she now discusses gay sex with her students as explicitly as she desires. For example, she said she tells the kids that lesbians can have vaginal intercourse using sex toys.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
By the following year it was in elementary school curricula. Kindergartners were given picture books telling them that same-sex couples are just another kind of family, like their own parents. In 2005, when David Parker of Lexington, MA a parent of a kindergartner strongly insisted on being notified when teachers were discussing homosexuality or transgenderism with his son, the school had him arrested and put in jail overnight.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Second graders at the same school were read a book, King and King, about two men who have a romance and marry each other, with a picture of them kissing. When parents Rob and Robin Wirthlin complained, they were told that the school had no obligation to notify them or allow them to opt-out their child.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
In 2006 the Parkers and Wirthlins filed a federal Civil Rights lawsuit to force the schools to notify parents and allow them to opt-out their elementary-school children when homosexual-related subjects were taught. The federal judges dismissed the case.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
The federal judges dismissed the case. The judges ruled that because same-sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts, the school actually had a duty to normalize homosexual relationships to children, and that schools have no obligation to notify parents or let them opt-out their children! Acceptance of homosexuality had become a matter of good citizenship!
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Think about that: Because same-sex marriage is legal, a federal judge has ruled that the schools now have a duty to portray homosexual relationships as normal to children, despite what parents think or believe!
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
In 2006, in the elementary school where my daughter went to Kindergarten, the parents of a third-grader were forced to take their child out of school because a man undergoing a sex-change operation and cross-dressing was being brought into class to teach the children that there are now different kinds of families. School officials told the mother that her complaints to the principal were considered inappropriate behavior.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
School libraries across the state, from elementary school to high school, now have shelves of books to normalize homosexual behavior and the lifestyle in the minds of kids, some of them quite explicit and even pornographic. Parents complaints are ignored or met with hostility.
Over the past year, homosexual groups have been using taxpayer money to distribute a large, slick hardcover book celebrating homosexual marriage titled Courting Equality into every school library in the state.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Its become commonplace in Massachusetts schools for teachers to prominently display photos of their same-sex spouses and occasionally bring them to school functions. Both high schools in my own town now have principals who are married to their same-sex partners, whom they bring to school and introduce to the students.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Gay days in schools are considered necessary to fight intolerance which may exist against same-sex relationships. Hundreds of high schools and even middle schools across the state now hold gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender appreciation days. They celebrate homosexual marriage and move forward to other behaviors such as cross-dressing and transsexuality. In my own town, a school committee member recently announced that combating homophobia is now a top priority.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Once homosexuality has been normalized, all boundaries will come down. The schools are already moving on to normalizing transgenderism (including cross-dressing and sex changes). The state-funded Commission on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Youth includes leaders who are transsexuals.

Public health
The Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health is married to another man. In 2007 he told a crowd of kids at a state-sponsored youth event that its wonderful being gay and he wants to make sure theres enough HIV testing available for all of them.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Since homosexual marriage became legal the rates of HIV / AIDS have gone up considerably in Massachusetts. This year public funding to deal with HIV/AIDS has risen by $500,000.
Citing the right to marry as one of the important challenges in a place where its a great time to be gay,
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
the Massachusetts Department of Public Health helped produce The Little Black Book, Queer in the 21st Century, a hideous work of obscene pornography which was given to kids at Brookline High School on April 30, 2005. Among other things, it gives tips to boys on how to perform oral sex on other males, masturbate other males, and how to safely have someone urinate on you for sexual pleasure. It also included a directory of bars in Boston where young men meet for anonymous sex.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Domestic violence
Given the extreme dysfunctional nature of homosexual relationships, the Massachusetts Legislature has felt the need to spend more money every year to deal with skyrocketing homosexual domestic violence. This year $350,000 was budgeted, up $100,000 from last year.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Business
All insurance in Massachusetts must now recognize same-sex married couples in their coverage. This includes auto insurance, health insurance, life insurance, etc.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Businesses must recognize same-sex married couples in all their benefits, activities, etc., regarding both employees and customers.
The wedding industry is required serve the homosexual community if requested. Wedding photographers, halls, caterers, etc., must do same-sex marriages or be arrested for discrimination.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Businesses are often tested for tolerance by homosexual activists. Groups of homosexual activists often go into restaurants or bars and publicly kiss and fondle each other to test whether the establishment demonstrates sufficient equality — now that homosexual marriage is legal. In fact, more and more overt displays of homosexual affection are seen in public places across the state to reinforce "marriage equality".
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Legal profession
The Massachusetts Bar Exam now tests lawyers on their knowledge of same-sex "marriage" issues. In 2007, a Boston man, Stephen Dunne, failed the Massachusetts bar exam because he refused to answer the questions in it about homosexual marriage.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Issues regarding homosexual families are now firmly entrenched in the Massachusetts legal system. In many firms, lawyers in Massachusetts practicing family law must now attend seminars on homosexual "marriage". There are also now several homosexual judges overseeing the Massachusetts family courts.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Adoption of children to homosexual married couples
Homosexual married couples can now demand to be able to adopt children the same as normal couples. Catholic Charities decided to abandon handling adoptions rather submit to regulations requiring them to allow homosexuals to adopt the children in their care.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Government mandates
In 2004, Governor Mitt Romney ordered Justices of the Peace to perform homosexual marriages when requested or be fired. At least one Justice of the Peace decided to resign.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Also thanks to Gov. Romney, marriage licenses in Massachusetts now have Party A and Party B instead of husband and wife. Romney did not have a legal requirement to do this; he did it on his own. (See more on this below.)
In 2008 Massachusetts changed the state Medicare laws to include homosexual married couples in the coverage.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Since homosexual relationships are now officially normal, the Legislature now gives enormous tax money to homosexual activist groups. In particular, the Massachusetts Commission on Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender Youth is made up of the most radical and militant homosexual groups which target children in the schools. This year they are getting $700,000 of taxpayer money to go into the public schools.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
The public square
Since gay marriage, annual gay pride parades have become more prominent. There are more politicians and corporations participating, and even police organizations take part
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
And the envelope gets pushed further and further.
There is now a profane Dyke March through downtown Boston, and recently a transgender parade in Northampton that included bare-chested women who have had their breasts surgically removed so they could become men. Governor Patrick even marched with his out lesbian 17-year old daughter in the 2008 Boston Pride event, right behind a leather group brandishing a black & blue flag, whips and chains!
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
The media
Boston media, particularly the Boston Globe newspaper, regularly does feature stories and news stories portraying homosexual married couples where regular married couples would normally be used. Its equal, they insist, so there must be no difference in the coverage. Also, the newspaper advice columns now deal with homosexual "marriage" issues, and how to properly accept it.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Is gay marriage actually legal in Massachusetts?
Like everywhere else in America, the imposition of same-sex marriage on the people of Massachusetts was a combination of radical, arrogant judges and pitifully cowardly politicians.
The Goodridge ruling resulted in a complete cave-in by politicians of both parties on this issue.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Same-sex marriage is still illegal in Massachusetts. On November 18, 2003 the court merely ruled that it was unconstitutional not to allow it, and gave the Legislature six months to take such action as it may deem appropriate. Note that the Massachusetts Constitution strongly denies courts the power to make or change laws, or from ordering the other branches to take any action. The constitution effectively bans judicial review a court changing or nullifying a law.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Thus, the court did not order anything to happen; it simply rendered an opinion on that specific case. And the Legislature did nothing. The marriage statutes were never changed. However, against the advice of many, Gov. Romney took it upon himself to alter the state's marriage licenses to say "Party A and Party B" and order officials to perform same-sex "weddings" if asked, though he had no legal obligation to do so. Technically, same-sex marriages are still illegal in Massachusetts.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Nevertheless, we are having to live with it. And furthermore, this abdication of their proper constitutional roles by the Legislature and Governor has caused a domino effect as "copycat" rulings have been issued in California and Connecticut, with other states fearful it will happen there.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
I Research shows that homosexual relationships are fundamentally dysfunctional on many levels, and marriage as we know it isnt something they can achieve, or even desire. (In fact, over the last three months, the Sunday Boston Globes marriage section hasnt had any photos of homosexual marriages. In the beginning it was full of them.)

RESTORE MARRIAGE - vote NO on Prop 8!
Have you noticed the arguments supporting prop 8 are the same arguments used to:
* support SLAVERY
* support the denial of women's sufferage
* oppose blacks and whites from marrying each other...
It's always interesting to see people use God's name to justify their bigoted and discriminatory beliefs.
jeffgagnon766 3 years ago
Proposition 8 doesn't take away any rights or benefits from gay or lesbian domestic
partners. Under California law, "domestic partners shall have the same rights, protections
and benefits" as married spouses. (Family Code §297.5.) There are no exceptions to this.
Proposition 8 will not change this.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
I haven't noticed anything.
blacks and whites can marry whomever they want.
And you can too, if you take the courage to ask
a few women out.
Remember it takes 10 requests to get one date.
So stop being a coward and retrieving to being gay
when you can be straight if you just made a little effort
to reach out to women.

Prop 8 will make sure that the definition that any teacher teaches in school
is the definition that exists since the creation of the earth with Adam and Eve.
Changing the definition will confuse children. What is a partnership? what is a civil union? what is marriage?
they each have a definition.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
your arguments are the same that racists used to continue slavery, and avoid women from voting. times change, you either change with them, or you continue to live in a century from the past. it's your choice.
BTW: adam and eve never married. they had two sons out of wedlock. since adam was the first man, and eve, the first woman ... i've always wondered if eve eventually had daughters, and if cain and able had to have sex with their sisters to procreate the human race?
jeffgagnon766 3 years ago
people who will vote No on 8 do not understand the consequences
it will bring to civilisation and society.
a woman completes a man and vice versa a man completes the woman,
no one can change that. the proof of it is they become one, like you are
your mother + your father = you (one) = marriage. (you are the marriage of your mother and father.)

* God is open, not closed.
* God is good, not bad.
* God doesn't discriminate ... you do!

It is primarily a license to have children.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
MYTH: Allowing gay couples to legally marry does not affect
anyone else.
FACT: The narrow decision of the State Supreme Court effectively renders all civil marriage
meaningless and will result in tremendous confusion for children. The state Education Code
(§51890) requires that teachers instruct children as young as kindergartners about marriage.
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
If
the gay marriage ruling becomes permanent, teachers will have little choice but to teach young
children there is no difference between gay marriage and traditional marriage.
We should not accept a court decision that results in public school teachers teaching our kids
that gay marriage is acceptable. That is an issue for parents to discuss with their children
according to their own values and beliefs. It should not be forced on us against our will
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Wait, so teaching kids "that gay marriage is acceptable" is a bad thing? What the hell is wrong with teaching them to "love thy neighbor"?
PinkBridget 3 years ago
Wait, you want gay marriage to be illegal because it is confusing to your children? Divorce is confusing to kids, should divorce be illegal? More importantly, gay marriage isn't confusing to kids. They understand love.
Plus, how does gay marriage make civil marriage meaningless? How does someone else's marriage effect yours? Does someone else's divorce make you get divorced? Do arranged marriages make you want an arranged marriage?
Oi!
davebucktn 3 years ago
Children ARE confused by the issue! Frances committee representing both sides CAREFULLY investigate & review the FACTS surrounding same-sex couples & kids. Some liberals argued against their findings, but bottom line: Parliament said the rights of children were more important EVEN if they were in conflict with the parents LIFESTYLE CHOICES. France PROHIBITS same-sex marriage, same-sex adoption, and anything that would bring children into a fatherless home! Family: Mother, Father, Children!
vanillaimage 3 years ago 2
My children aren't confused. Well, they don't understand why you would not want two adults who love each other to not be able to get married. Other than that, it isn't a bit confusing.
The fact that your kids are confused should NOT be a reason for you to use the government to regulate the behavior of consenting adults.
davebucktn 3 years ago
My kids are adults and I dont have any grandkids yet, but I work with several youth groups (some church, some civil) and this subject really is confusing to them. There is a LOT of research that verifies that too! We are not proposing that 2 people who love each other cant form a union. We just dont want that union to be called marriage unless the 2 people are of the opposite sex. Marriage to us is sacred. The definition for centuries has been legally between opposite sexes. Restore Marriage!
k10star 3 years ago
Restore marriage? If Noah and Moses existed, they supposedly had many wives at the same time. Are you for that tradition? Marriage was also traditionally arranged to unite families and increase power. Restore that? Men married just to get women to take care of their kids. Traditional?
Bottomline though: Churches perform gay marriages. Our government may not support one religion over others. So, we must recognize the marriages between consenting adults in all churches, not just some.
davebucktn 3 years ago
The definition of marriage, until recently, has ALWAYS been between opposite sexes. Yes, there have been laws on who could or could not marry. Interracial, Polygamy but the spouses have always been of the opposite sex. Arranged marriage between same-sex couples? I dont think so! We are not trying to discriminate against same-sex couples. We are trying to Protect & Preserve Marriage which has had deep religious meaning far longer than its been a legal shortcut to Federal tax benefits.
k10star 3 years ago
You admit that marriage is evolving. It is now based on love and in the past, it was not. If love is the basis for contemporary marriage, then same sex consenting adults who love each other can be married. To some, LOVE is sacred. So ask yourself this, what is more sacred, love, or the word marriage? Marriage evolves, so love is clearly more important.
How about focusing on your own marriage and kids and leave other consenting adults get married. That's fair and promotes liberty (GO USA!).
davebucktn 3 years ago
That's not what I said! Marriage is NOT EVOLVING marriage is a Covenant between God 1 man & 1 woman & that has NEVER changed & NEVER will CHANGE! Man may have changed the rules some, by allowing a man to be married to more than one woman at the same time or a woman to be married to more than one man at a time but each marriage has ALWAYS been between opposite sexes, the same is true of interracial marriage. Marriage is part of Gods laws which are eternal and unchanging. One Nation Under GOD!
k10star 3 years ago
Polygamy (Noah, Moses, Soloman, etc...). Now monogomy. Arranged marriage or marriage out of necessity has evolved only in the last 100 years to be marriage based on love
Don't restore traditional marriage!
"When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and ... its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one." Ben Franklin.

You didnt really read my comments very closely, did you? That last comment you posted isnt even a response to my points, just the same old rhetoric you have given before. Vive La France! k10star 3 years ago
you said same sex marriage is not traditional. You simply hate that some gays get married and will use the government to get your way.
davebucktn 3 years ago
Forget mankinds perversions, I do want Marriage to be restored to the way GOD created it, between man and wife. I also want His church restored to that level of perfection too, in its purest form, not mans twists, misinterpretations & corruptions. The people in Moses day couldnt or wouldnt obey Gods laws so he made it simpler for them, to see if they could handle that. As for gays getting married I do object to them using the sacred term. My uncle had a life partner, & thats fine by me.
k10star 3 years ago
You can have YOUR religious beliefs, choose YOUR church and YOUR marriage. But don't use the government to take from others. Is your specific religion so weak it needs the government to make ALL obey it?
Just who was the first, most pure married couple? Who was the 2nd? How do you know? And, how do you know which was the most pure form of a church? Was it AD or BC? And what is your evidence? How do you know what churches and marriages were like then? Keep the new love-based marriage for all!
davebucktn 3 years ago
k10star,
Support love. It's simple. Tell those kids that if two adults love each other and want to use the institution of marriage to become one for the rest of their lives, they should be allowed to do it. If marriage is great, allow gays to participate.
Also, explain how important liberty, love, and personal responsibility are to us.
davebucktn 3 years ago
Wow, lots of opinions on raising your kids! I imagine other parents have different ideas about raising theirs. I know I do.
But Prop 8 does NOTHING to change parental or adoption rights for gay couples (or singles, for that matter). All it does is take the kids in those families you consider abnormal and revoke their parents' CURRENT marriages. Plus, of course, cause considerable emotional and financial turmoil for those families.
Do you REALLY care about kids, or do you just like to rant?

Sara McLanahan and Gary Sandefur, sociologists at Princeton and Wisconsin respectively, sum up the reason that marriage matters for children in this way :
"...The fact that both parents have a biological connection to the child would increase the likelihood that the parents would identify with the child and be willing to sacrifice for that child, and it would reduce the likelihood that either parent would abuse the child" .
frenchamericantv 3 years ago
Martin Luther King Jr. Quote :
"Marriage is neither a conservative nor a liberal issue; it is a universal human institution, guaranteeing children fathers, and pointing men and women toward a special kind of socially as well as personally fruitful sexual relationship. Gay marriage is the final step down a long road America has already traveled toward deinstitutionalizing, denuding and privatizing marriage. It would set in legal stone some of the most destructive ideas of the sexual revolution:

I would be so ashamed to use my child to put forth a message of hate. Prop 8 is the first amendment in California history that would take away rights instead of adding to them.

SO many Prop 8 lies.
I'm voting NO!
