The animals must have been scared when the bus hit them. The fright of the impact could have caused some Cadaveric spasms and would almost certainly have lead to rapid Rigor mortis this means the meat would have been been quite tough and rather inedible.

They may be at the lower level of the food chain and they may be dead and I also appreciate that KWS policy is not to get the public acustomed to game meat but this is barbaric. You should not drag an animal, dead or alive like that(Personally I would have rather the meat was given to the public upon vertinary inspection).
