  • how long did uncle jessee say that line im not your uncle jessee lol

  • @MikeLutton he said it to Cooter, Enos, and Cletus a lot of times

  • i still get a cry everytime i watch this, Denver and James were amazing actors.

  • Rosco was always my favorite character on this show.

  • James Best was a fairly accomplished character actor before doing that series. Denver Pyle had worked as a character actor in many films and had been in everything from some of the last John Ford and John Wayne films and had worked for guys like Walt Disney. None of whome accepted any crap actors. Sorrel Brooks was also a good slapstick guy. This original series was funny and not stupid like the Dukes movie of late. I did like willie Nelson as uncle jessie though.

  • so sad i was alost in tears when i saw this episoed

  • Roscoe consoling Jessie, then Jessie putting his hand on Roscoe's to make him feel better....no words.

  • @robbyiofdf They probably just used a different GL after that one went in the pond.

  • Dang I nearly cried.....But i couldnt stop thinking about Daisy in those shorts so there were no tears here!!

  • James Best is an awesome actor... Got to meet him at the Dukes Fest in 2008... He played this scene with the utmost of sincerity and compassion...made it very believable... Also the episode where he plays his evil twin... THAT was a good one too...

  • i have seen this a lot of time but it stay the same feeling in me

  • James Best is REALLY good at fake crying!

  • i want to know how they get the genral lee out of the pond its might be at the bottom of the pond

  • i want to know how they get the genral lee out of the pond

  • @robbyiofdf Like they usually did - Cooter towed it out.

  • Like this if Rosco made you cry out "ROSCO CRIES?"

  • after all thease years this part still brings a tear to my eye.

  • these were actors .... but where are the actors now ?????

  • @murena1970 jd hogg boss hog is die and uncle J.

  • @murena1970 jd hogg boss hog is die and uncle J.tom wapot is a singer john he still acts

  • @murena1970 Tom Wopat and John Schneider are country music singers, Denver Pyle and Sorrrell are dead. I'm not sure of the others.

  • @ChibiProwl Ben Jones was a Congressman from Georgia who later got beat out of office by Newt Gingrich, and Catherine Bach was in an adventure show on CBN for a while. James Best was still running his acting school, and he is now does a lot of painting, as he's pretty much retired.

  • @DENo1MatchGameFan .......he was actually already out of office when he lost to Newt Gingrich in 1994. Redistricting before the 1992 race redrew his old district and he lost the 1992 Democratic primary. He later moved to the district represented by Gingrich to run against him.

  • @bke274 Thanks for the info - I just looked it up and you were right. Learn something new everyday.

  • @ChibiProwl

John Schneider is a country singer, Tom Wopat is a Broadway singer, James Best doesn't act anymore but is a very great artist...Catherine Bach not sure what she does, The guy that plays Cooter owns an eatery back east somewhere...

  • @scott93257 Cooter (Ben Jones) is a former congressman from Georgia.

  • do you know where I can warch liiike the whole episode cause I so can't find it online anywhere and I ordered it from blockbuster but being the idiot i am I fifn't go get it and they sold it to someone else :(

  • Wow seeing Roscoe cry is like watching a puppy being put to sleep you cant help but tear up

  • where's the rest of this?

  • i love this eposide i think it very funny

  • @shannon865 what episode is this?

  • @MrHillbillyjoe Ghost of General Lee. Its in the second season (I think).

  • @kaos3124 If you don't like "Dukes of Hazzard" or this awesome and incredible scene, don't watch it!

  • As sad and teary eyed as this scene make me, it gives Denver Plye and James Best a rare chance to show their true acting abilities on this show. A truly touching moment at the end.

  • You mean the boys didn't get back before the Sherriff? I suppose I should have reckoned that, but still. Poor Uncle Jesse! And Daisy and Cooter, too! How could Cooter ever have gotten along without Luke and Bo? Oh, how sad.

  • Jesse's like ...WTF?

  • James Best should have won the Best Actor Emmy for his amazing work on this episode! Thank you for posting.

  • James Best in my opinion gave an excellent performance in this scene.

  • This is such a powerful scene.

  • "They didnt come up"

I have seen this episode so many times but it still brings a tear to my eye when i see this part.

  • FANTASTIC!!! Moved to tears here!!! Between this and the "Duke Boys" in the pond before it... Fine actors, James Best is great... I've had the priviledge of meeting Ben Jones (Cooter), a fine actor himself!!!

  • thats a sad episode. i love the dukes of hazard

  • Hey now....that's not fair. I coined the term "Knuckle Cancer". Don't go stealing it from me just because you have the humor value of a diabetic coma. Now be a good boy and go make some more horrendously unfunny videos.

  • @davisfleetwood yeah u piece of shit nigger

  • @davisfleetwood go to hell, nigger.

  • @davisfleetwood If you don't like "Dukes of Hazzard" or any of the actors, don't watch this or any Dukes video.

  • @davisfleetwood i hope u get knuckle cancer!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @davisfleetwood fuck you i hope you die and go to hell

  • @davisfleetwood

    Now that is ryhme haha

  • i loved roscoe!

  • This was Roscoe's best moment in the whole series, and boss's lowest when he tries taking advantage of jesse's grief.

  • @vlunney And look at the way they played the scene - James reaches for the pepper shaker and plays with it while he's talking, then covers the top with his hand, giving Denver a chance to put his hand on James' - linking them physically as well as emotionally in the scene. With experienced actors such as those (James Best was an acting coach later, I believe), you have to believe that none of that happened by chance.

  • @vlunney I was very young when this show was on and it was one of my favorites at the time. I remember this episode and I remember crying at this part. The acting of Roscoe and Jessie really made me feel it at the time. I also remember my mother trying to explain to me they would be back next week and it would be ok but being too young to get what she meant..lol...

  • James Best is a genius. Always has been and always will be.

  • look at roscoes face at 1:32. brilliant acting

  • i'm sure jesse felt better after daisy stuck her cam-toe in his face

  • This part of this episode was so perfectly put together. It reminds me of the part of an episode of MASH. The part where Radar walks into the OR and tells everyone that Henry Blake is dead

  • thats so true. this does have the same feel to it.

  • stunning acting. the entire cast where absolutely brilliant. but yeh, you're so right. when a comedy actor has the ability to pull off really moving scenes you know you're seeing something special.
