I was 18 years old when this song came out as well as the movie and believe it or not,I at the time was studying karate and martial arts. I was awaiting my ship out date to boot camp in the Marine Corps and had a green belt in the style I was studying.Pat Morita portrayed what a real teacher and master of the arts is really about.His philosophy was great when he said"KARATE IS FOR SELF-DEFENSE ONLY,NOT SOME TYPE OF AGGRESSION".

@faustolg better in terms of fight and the relationship between the master and the apprentice and the story and if you really watched the movie they didn't try to make Jackie Chan Japanese. It was filmed in China, with Mandarin speaking Jackie Chan in it. The only reason they made the title of this movie Karate Kid is to pay homage to the original and for marketing purposes. If they made it into "Kungfu Kid" it would turn into a rip-off instead of a remake.

OMG!!! Survivor rules. Jimi Jamison has a great voice to say the least!!! What uplifting lyrics. The music these days have no meaning and sound like crap!!! Much underated music group.
