I don't know about "loyalty". Domesticated dogs are typically dependent upon their human masters for everything. That dog's survival revolved around that person's care, and the dog, not having the ability to fend for itself, or the intelligence to understand its master was dead and wasn't going to get up to feed it or anything, simply sat by his side and waited, not being able to do much else. I wouldn't call this loyalty as much as a would dependency.

Some dogs and cats are treated certain ways as a puppy or kitten which causes them to react to humans accordingly. I think its great that you have a cat that loves you that much. @use2slam2 It really depends on the relationship the owner has with the dog. Also, I really dislike it when people try using wolf behaviors to encompass dog behaviors. Yes they are genetically similar, but each breed and individual is very different. Also, a wild wolf pack doesn't actually follow the Alpha animal. That is a misconception from early research observations of wolves in a zoo setting as well as popular literature. Search up Pack (Canine) on Wikipedia. (I am a researcher myself).

The Dog had plenty to eat. He chose not too. I've seen dogs stay by owners, and have to be shot, because they were protecting their dead Master. I've also know of MANY cases, that a dog would start to eat its owner. My dogs think they hit the lotto if given the opportunity to roll or eat something in decomposition., instinct... I love dogs but this News item is an example of how Morality has deteriorated in present day journalism. Here the News makers twisted the report to make it sound like the dog made an exceptional show of Loyalty. The turth is that the dog was trapped and has suffered. A more accurate report would have given the right insight to the public and draw the right reaction on how to prevent a repeatition of a dog getting trapped in similar cases.

when we die, we go thru a chemical change in the body that dogs can sense. this happens some years ago in michigan to a homeless man found in a building. his two dogs were by his side, and wouldn't let police near him. police thought the dogs ate the man's face off, but test showed that deterioration was from them licking him on the face. i forgot whatever happen to the dogs.
