This was based on an ABC Special hosted by Meredith Viera. Makeup artist Tony Gardner (Alterian, Inc.) did a makeup and suit on a 15 year old high school student loaded with hidden cameras to see how the youth of today treats people who are overweight.

Guess it was a powerful story, if they made a film about all of these real people.

@ldmorison Her mom struggled with binge eating disorder.The point is that its your choice to pick up your first alcoholic drink knowing you might get addicted. Its not peoples actual fault if they become addicted to food because we HAVE to eat to survive..so she could hate her mom for being an alcoholic because then it would have been her choice to have started drinking whereas most 'fat' people can exercise for 3 hours a day but if you eat 4000+ calories a day your still gonna be fat.

I liked this movie, but I had a problem with the way Aly treated her mother. Caroline Rhea did not even look that overweight in this movie and Aly treated her as if she were enormous, I know that was the point, but still. Maybe they should have casted a larger woman, because Caroline Rhea was so NOT fat in this movie.
