I played Qix on the Gameboy. Most of the sound was the Buzzzzzzzz, Buzzzzzzzzz it made while it moved around on the screen. I made it to level 5 once.
This is one of those games that's really good to play with your own music playing. You can kill its sound without missing any essential game stuff, or let it go and it won't mess with the music. I like to listen to radio shows and podcasts while screwing around on games like Qix to keep my hands busy.
@Lycanthrokeith Trapping it is basically just finishing the level by closing off at least 65% of the screen. Splitting is when you have more than one, if you cover over the area where one is as opposed to boxing them both into the same space, then you get a points multiplier for the rest of the level. It's a lot harder than it sounds.
This reminded me a lot of a game I used to have for the SNES back in my childhood. It was Cacoma Knight in Bizyland, and it had the same mechanics as this game here. Only difference was there was music and a storyline...somewhat.
Try the amiga or PC engine versions of Volfied, which is basicly Qix, except with enemies that aren't just lines.

It's pronounced "quicks" actually. Taito is a Japanese company and that's how they say it. It's written as クイックス (kuikkusu) in Japanese.

Hell yeah! I played Qix. I like the annoying sounds on the Arcade. =3

If you press the other button on the controller to draw, it goes slower, but you get more points.
Super Qix was a 1987 arcade sequel to Qix which was a lot, LOT harder.

If you enjoyed this, look into playing an arcade game called "Volfied". There's a video of it in your suggestions for this video, no less.

When you do fill in a spot, it sounds like the Dr.Phil theme.

Qix would make a neat DS game.
Also, anything by Taito is okay by me, naturally. =3

O.O Fucking linez I will never forgive you >:O
ShadowZero1357 7 months ago
I'm convinced that Qix had some AI going on that would send the lines directly towards you whenever you started to draw.

One of the coolest ideas ever done in a video game, seriously.
I'd always heard about trapping the Qix and splitting the Qix. How exactly are they done?

I have only played Qix Neo a.k.a Volfied which is the sequel to Qix. After watching this I definitely want to give the original a try.

This is the perfect Game Boy game. You only need to play it for like 10 minutes at a time.

i LOVE Qix, i played it on my Nintendo gameboy colour.
and the actual objective was to box in the squiggly lines in the middle of the screen.

Damn this made me remember an arcade game called Gals Panic. I guess this game is it's predecessor.
