Another lost gem. It is a shame that this is not shown during the holiday season. I read the book in 3rd grade, and never saw the film until now. Thanks for this. God bless!
LOL, a blast from the past. I have searched for this from time to time for years and now, finally, I have found it. Thank YOU. My school would show this and "Brian's Song" every year.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! for posting this!!! I finally get to watch this (around the computer) with my daughters!!! I ahve told them so many times about this movie
This is classic haven't seen this seen 70's,look who's the mother, this is young kevin hooks,he's the best,it's funny how we don't talk Kevin Hooks young actor,I always like him and this is one of my favorite movies always and I looked it up cuz' I haven't seen in years,as a kid I used to cry reminds of myself from clothes to personality but I didn't run but also out smarted'em cuz' u don't have to fight all the time just smarter
I've been searching for this for decades. I'll NEVER forget this...a profound influence in my life. Now that I see it again after over a quarter century, I know why I remembered it over Gilligan's Island, The Flinstones and I Dream of Jeanie. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
WOW!!!!! My mother had me watch this when I was a very young girl and the cat scene traumatized me. Oddly, I always wanted to watch it every year & was heartbroken when it didn't come on anymore. Now I get to introduce my own kids to it. Thanks!
So help me, Shoes & Stockins... Youtube is like an old Garage Sale. If you can think of it, somebody sooner or later will think of it too and post it on Youtube. It's been 30 years siince I read this book. I was only 12 years old. I never saw the movie... until now. Thank you and God Bless You.
From '75 - '79 I attended Flushing Christian School when in the middle of 4th grade my family decided to move to Long Island. It was the start of 4th grade when I found this paperback in the school library and checked it out. Ironically, I liked it so much that I never returned it unlike JT who returned the radio..
I cannot believe I am seeing this after 41 years.....yikes! I had been searching for a copy of this movie from when I was a kid for a very long time and here it is! Thanks a million JTClarion!
First saw it in '69 and I believe it was on for a couple of years after that. The next time I remember seeing it was around '75, and then never again until now. I am sure if you're in your late 40s (like me), your experience is somewhat the same.
A lovely little story, very gritty, and around the time it came out, very "real"...or so we were led to believe.
And those bad dudes make today's gangstas look like a bunch of pansies in comparison.
Never got why this excellent show has not been broadcast in nearly 40 yrs. The film made broadcasting history. Originally aired on a Saturday morning, an outpouring of viewer demand convinced CBS to change their prime time schedule and rebroadcast it just a few days later in prime time- something never done before or since! Why oh why has it not been broadcast since or at least a dvd available!!!
I purchased a bootleg last year from an online retailer and was quite pleased to have any version of this classic. I am one of those who remember viewing this when it was new, and for a few years after each Christmas. I discovered this last year here on Youtube at the same time I'd finally found a reputable source. Watch it here, if you haven't seen it!!
I've been looking for this video/movie for years! It will always be in my heart from the first time I saw it as a child/early teen. I'm so sad that it has been 'buried' as an All American Chirstmas Classic.
thank you for posting this wonderful movie. iIsaw it when it first came out and have been looking for it since then. After 40 years, it is still as wonderful as it was then.
Hard to understand why "JT" dropped off the radar the way it did. It is never rerun, and no DVD is available to my knowledge. For those of us who were kids when it first aired it's true Christmas classic.
Thank you for posting this! I've been trying to find this movie for so long. I remembered the little boy and his love for the sick cat and that he was always charging the tuna fish to his mom's account.. I love cats and loved seeing how much JT loved this cat.. Very touching movie!!
Loved this Xmas special, brings back memories, I think it came on in 1968, our whole family enjoyed it but I don't remember too many repeats at Christmastime after 1968, don't know why. JT was very different for the times. Thanks for downloading this!
I saw this when it originally aired! I had and still have a crush on Kevin Hooks! I still have my first copy of the book J.T. Thank you for posting this!!!!!!
kevin hooks was a great child actor. his best movies was a hero ain't nothin but a sandwhich with paul winfield and cecily tyson. wish someone would post it :(
Yeah, I remember it too! I knew it was sometime around 1990-- everyone's saying it hasnt been shown since the 60's,but I remember it vividly! Glad to see someone else here saw that particular broadcast besides me!
Oh, my GOD! I can't believe you have this! Now if you could just find the prime time cartoon of the Original Fat Albert (before the Sat Morning cartoon came out). It came out right around this time.
I took a chance on fining this on youtube, jimallen85. Been searching for it for years. So glad to find it. I don't particularly care for cats, but I love the movie. :-)
I've been trying to figure out which neighborhood and street in NYC this was shot in. It's supposed to be in Harlem, but it may not actually be. There are very few clues in the film to go on. The one rooftop scene shows what may be a church in the distance. Does anybody recognize it?
I just learned that it was actually filmed in the South Bronx on Gouverneur Place between Washington and Park Avenues. None of the buildings seen on the street remain today; all were torn down long ago.
I remember this movie all too well. My one memory is J.T. in the Alley with the Cat and the Tuna can. One Movie that has stuck in my mind for many years. Thank You for posting it. J.T. and his Radio ... my my. I love this Movie.
Many people have fond memories of this teleplay which was allowed to fall into obscurity but has since rebounded due to the interest expressed by many on the internet. Never properly released on home video, bootleg copies have become easier to find.
I've been wondering what happened to this gem. I saw it when I was in grade school. I remember how it made me so sad when the cat died.....
