From '75 - '79 I attended Flushing Christian School when in the middle of 4th grade my family decided to move to Long Island. First saw it in '69 and I believe it was on for a couple of years after that. The next time I remember seeing it was around '75, and then never again until now. I am sure if you're in your late 40s (like me), your experience is somewhat the same.

A lovely little story, very gritty, and around the time it came out, very "real"...or so we were led to believe.

And those bad dudes make today's gangstas look like a bunch of pansies in comparison.

Never got why this excellent show has not been broadcast in nearly 40 yrs. The film made broadcasting history. Originally aired on a Saturday morning, an outpouring of viewer demand convinced CBS to change their prime time schedule and rebroadcast it just a few days later in prime time- something never done before or since! Why oh why has it not been broadcast since or at least a dvd available!!!

I purchased a bootleg last year from an online retailer and was quite pleased to have any version of this classic. I am one of those who remember viewing this when it was new, and for a few years after each Christmas. I discovered this last year here on Youtube at the same time I'd finally found a reputable source. Watch it here, if you haven't seen it!!

Hard to understand why "JT" dropped off the radar the way it did. It is never rerun, and no DVD is available to my knowledge. For those of us who were kids when it first aired it's true Christmas classic.

Thank you for posting this! I've been trying to find this movie for so long. I remembered the little boy and his love for the sick cat and that he was always charging the tuna fish to his mom's account.. I love cats and loved seeing how much JT loved this cat.. Very touching movie!!

Loved this Xmas special, brings back memories, I think it came on in 1968, our whole family enjoyed it but I don't remember too many repeats at Christmastime after 1968, don't know why. JT was very different for the times. Thanks for downloading this!

I've been trying to figure out which neighborhood and street in NYC this was shot in. It's supposed to be in Harlem, but it may not actually be. There are very few clues in the film to go on. The one rooftop scene shows what may be a church in the distance. Does anybody recognize it?

I just learned that it was actually filmed in the South Bronx on Gouverneur Place between Washington and Park Avenues. None of the buildings seen on the street remain today; all were torn down long ago.
