It looks to me that in the loss, the ships didn't really focus fire that well and one of the cruisers was lagging in the back not contributing until a gap was made.
Here, the cruisers make a more concerted effort ot make small half moon formations around their target and pick them off. Still a bit batty, but essentially holding back firepower for a reserve just didn't seem to work out well in this scenario.
I'd say don't u se any frigs, as they can't take any dmg, and there dd capabilities are "limited", and of course, keep the fighters near the cap ships, as a shield against enemy crafts and as a support (the can fly "under" the shields of cap ships).

i dont get it, all you did was space out your ships a bit more and move your cruisers forward... how did you win this one?
