  • your a beast mang

  • @1:08 , "Chuck Norris" haha, Anyways man, I was in quarantine in Japan in 2009 when I was 12 and although I wasn't in it for no where as long as you, I was only in there for about a week and a bit (then my mum got the Australian embassy to argue with the hospital to get me out, I had Swine Flu but it wasn't that bad at all) but still I know what you mean about when you get out, the world seems SO much better then it did before and you realize how much you take it for granted. Ps. I'm Aussie too!

  • If you listen closely you can hear all of the panties in the world hitting the floor at the same time

  • I know what you mean about feeling like an empty shell under the effects of medication. I have finally been diagnosed with meniere disease. before i was diagnosed doctors just didnt know what to do with a teen with symptoms that didnt make since, so instead of really trying to help me, they either said i was faking to get out of school or they put me on meds that would counter act each other making me worse. id become a completely different person sometimes. this vid made me smile tho. thanks :)

  • This video is a good reminder that we weren't born with a spirit of fear and timidity but one of power and a sound mind.

  • Really really beautiful!!! Your words describe what people really feel when faced with illness and overcome it...thank you for sharing your talent with the world!

  • I found your first video when I was first diagnosed with a rare disease that has ate away my jaw bone. I am now finally 5 days away from my surgery that has a one year recovery period. I love your perspective and hope to come out of my life changing experience with the same outlook. I feel like you put into words what I have and hope to achieve. Thank you for the many laughs and now this wonderful inspiring video.

  • I agree with Obliaxe. Keep making videos!! I have watched this video and several others almost everyday. Very entertaining and inspiring. Keep up the good work!!!

  • You need to keep creating videos. I'm totally inspired by you and your craft.

That's alot of medication. I remember back in the day when I was at one point 20 pills. Was it realistic? No. But did I need them? unfortunately yes. It wasn't until 2005, I finally was able to break free and drop from 20 to 2 pills a day. Once they found out how to control me. (Epilepsy) One is medication, the other? A vitamin)

One of my goals in life? To see Australia for the first time :)

  • YOU ARE MY NUMBER ONE FAVORITE YOUTUBER. I WILL SHARE YOU WITH EVERYBODY AND PLEASE DONT STOP MKAING MUSIC VIDEOS AND YOUR VIDEO MAKING SKILLS ARE AMAZING. YOU ROCK! <3

  • I want to hug you :3

  • I love this video. I'm glad you're out of the hospital, and glad your perspective. "We are fools whether we dance or not. So we might as well dance." - Japanese Proverb

  • So.... Did you make the cut for the last 100 hours?

  • your amazing man!

  • I never thought anything real was ever put on YouTube. I always felt like being on here was just a mindless waste of time. You've changed that. I wish you the best in life and love and hope to see more of you in the near future.

  • Hello again dude. Congratulations. I'm happy for know that you is now out of the hospital.

Now you'll see the world with other eyes... So enjoy and don't let the others wane you

  • This video makes me want to give someone a hug. It seems like, with all the negativity you have had to deal with...you are able to rise above it and still find some way to be positive. It's inspiring. I want to be more like you.

  • I am fairly sure we are all going to love you for a very long time. Keep Dancing. Cheers!

  • I'm very pleased to see you are free to roam the world once again. I spent many months at a time in a plastic tent in hospitals as a child. to an accumulated 2 and half years for severe and chronic lung infections. The life is just AWESOME! and I'm glad you enjoy it :)

Good luck BRO hope you don't give up making videos ;)

    Thank YOU!

  • Good video...visual.

  • This is one of the most deepest short movies I have ever seen, I enjoy it that is isn't scripted it is just your daily life and it shows all those little moments that your encounter. But now it seems that two different lives have collided together, A regular "average" Aussie guy and a world wide sensation.

Well done Christaan, It's video's like these that get people thinking about their own lives, so thank you for showing us your daily life and life in isolation

    Cody D - spitfirefilmsnz

  • so poetic! i love you, you're so inspiring.

  • This is great I just watched it three times. It's really thought-provoking and reflective and also funny at times! You've had such a tough experience, but a really unique one. Isn't it weird how the really bad stuff makes the rest of life completely awesome? Love all the dancing. I could dance/watch people dance all day. Sounds like you're doing really well after your illness, good on you mate. Keep up the writing and filmmaking!

  • @TheBlueRoomDream Firstly, thanks for the note... Yeah, it's one of those things where perspective makes you really how good you've really got it. The grass looks greener, the sky looks bluer etc... It's been a unique experience to go through.

  • I have a question will you make vids since your out of hospital ?

  • @luukas888 Yeah, I have been working on a web series with my brother for a couple of months, which we are going to start putting online soon... There will be lots of new songs, and vids and stuff... Looking forward to getting it online soon!

  • Plz don't stop making music or videos! you're so talented man I really enjoy everything you did and I'm glad you're out! just don't forget about what you got from the experience, and keep adding random raps to youtube :P.

  • @Obliaxe Hi :) Thanks for your comment... HEAPS of random raps and music vids coming, I just wanted to get a bit serious for the Life in a Day project, given the nature of the topics that they were covering... Stay tuned for a web series coming soon!!!

  • :-)

  • Vulnerability can be such a beautiful thing.

  • Job Well Done!!

    Follow your dreams.

  • Bugger, I'm at Corelli's in Newtown all the time - if I'd been there on the 24th it would have been fun to run into you!

  • I hate awkward gestures.

  • Powerful video, Christiaan. It's amazing how you showed your evolution from comic trickster to, well, something deeper than that (cosmic comic?) through the videos you made both in and after your hospital confinement. I think you have a unique voice about and perspective on life, living, and nearly dieing. "Heaps sick," but in a truly good way.

  • @sealthdon Thanks... Most of what I am working on is more comedy stuff, but I thought that for the Life in a Day thing, it would be nice to share the serious side of what I've been through, and some of the ways that it has impacted my life...

  • @sealthdon "Cosmic comic". I like that :P

  • Hey Christian, been keeping up with your videos for months since ive been studying in london and im glad you are feeling better. Was very moved by your words in this compelling video. E.

  • @mytorncanvas Thanks :) I hope your studies are going well over there!

  • @ChristiaanVanVuuren Thats the spirit!

I love spareribs, damn I want to eat em NOW!

  • Congratulations for getting out man, and it’s good to see you’re making the most of it. Best Life in a day entry I’ve seen so far ;D.

By the way, as an aspiring filmie, what kind of camera did you use for this man?

  • @thenoirkid I shot half of this on a SOny HD handicam, and then the other half on my Canon 5d

  • I'm so very happy you are out of hospital and are able to enjoy your life!! I wish you all the best and I have always enjoyed watching your videos...so I hope now that you're out, you will still create videos for all of your fans!!! <3 you!

  • You, your message, your energy, your spirit and your perspective make me smile, Mr. Van Vuuren.

    Thank you.

  • good artistic job

  • Excellent video--great thoughts! I have also feared necessary medication (for the same reason; it blunts things). I've also feared love for the same reasons in the past. Thanks for sharing yourself--hope the rest of 2010 is WAAY better than the first part of it!

  • Another brilliant video mate. You are a very insightful person and it is awesome to get to see you outside of Quarantine! Congratulations!

  • Hey Congrats! You're out and giving more inspirational videos! Thanks! Best wishes from Chicago.

  • people with Near-Death Experiences always enjoy life more after it. wish i could enjoy it like that before dead. great you're out

  • I like your videos. We all have our own prisons; poverty, sickness, abuse, addictions, incarceration... Some of us go from one to another. Though our words, thoughts and actions these can be prisons or inspiration. The way you travel in life will be what you take to the spirit world, all the possessions are left behind. I will remember your words when I get stuck again. BTW You really did a lot for a single day; it’s hard to believe you were so sick. Thanks for sharing.

  • Life is just AWESOME!

    Thanx Christiaan Van Vuuren

  • You are a beautiful example of rising above the negativity.... I'm not saying you weren't wading knee deep in it at times.... but you found those overhanging vines, grabbed them and now you're swinging on the beauty of life, while searching for it's true meaning.... You set a remarkable example of how to cope when the going get's tough... kudos to you bud ♥

  • @misscupcake Thanks heaps for this comment, it's really nice, what a top thing to say. Sorry for nothing new lately, I've just been busy with this channel, making videos of doing 30 new things for September!!! 30DayshadSeptember

  • "Many light years" would be a measurement of distance, not time

  • you seem to be doing great, i am glad your out and not letting anything put you down as you seem so happy. i believe i speak for all of your fans when i say that.

  • It is beautiful to see you dancing on the beach.

Don't be afraid to love, all love is temporary. When you find it enjoy the hell out of it and know that it is fleating....

  • You are such an idiot and I love you <3 <3 <3

  • Thanks for sharing! This is my favorite Life in a Day video, by far.

  • Its to bad Kevin MacDonald cant except this edited video, you did a good job editing, he said raw video.

  • I'd like to thank you for this amazing video, man. And, for as cheesy as it sounds, you can't help but gain a little bit more appreciation for life when watching this. Keep up the awesome work with these awesome videos.

  • OMG you are out!!! im so happy for you. this video and your story is amazing.

  • awesome video, glad your out :)

  • "I havn't stared death in the eyes but i've seen his reflection. And i've feared him to the point of tears and then come to terms with him. Then been angered by how close he stood and at times even wanted to reach out and touch him" ....Love it!, it's almost poetic

  • You have made me believe it's okay to be vulnerable. Thank you.

  • So cool that you are participating in the Life in a Day competition .. I actually thought about you when watching the life in a day trailer .... Just awesome ;D

  • Good video. Gives a person a lot to think about.

  • I'm so happy for you. (=

  • The world needs one of you in every neighbourhood at least once a month. :)

  • Hey Christiaan,

Just wanted to say that this video is truely inspirational, your philosophy on life makes you a very wise person in my eyes.

And in general I love all your videos, from the first time I saw a clip of you in quarantine doing ''Fully sick rapper'' I could see that you are a strong individual. Despite being screwed over by life, you took it with a smile in your face and a sense of humor rather than sitting there and feeling sorry for yourself.

    Thank you mate

    Cheers from Bulgaria

  • This is great. I really liked this video, just as much as I love your raps.

  • BEAUTIFUL, CHRISTIAAN. That was so lovely to see.

  • Awesome, just truly awesome. It really is all about perspectives, and I think we're all glad that you didn't get bitter or resentful at life for throwing you a curveball. Keep up the positive attitude, and good things are sure to come your way.

P.S. I was singing "Quarantine Guy" at work the other day and everyone was looking at me very strangely. =D
