I think it is a diesel model that is running on the engine oil or 'running away' as it can be called the turbo seals have failed and even though it can be switched off the the engine will keep going only way to stop is stall if manual or block the air intake to choke it,have seen it before and if you search will find it on u tube elswhere,feel sorry for owners,expensive!

i wouldnt say, that they did it in purpose, they were just sleeping and didnt hear the engine screaming. BMW has good noise elimination.

It has also protection against overheating, it switched engine to emergency mode, but as i see the engine is damage anyway because of irregular operation

No, řekl bych, že kluci asi nevěděli, že chrápe. Jestli teda chrápal. Nicméně, jestli se mu zasekl plyn, tak s tím mnoho nezmůžete. Alespoň u E65. Taky jsem jí vlastnil. Jde o to, že se startuje i umírá tlačítkem a když máte plnej, tak Vás to chcípnout nechá! Leda tak, že přestřihnete kabely, nebo přívod paliva.

Podle mne, měl rozhašenou elektroniku, jinak se ten motor při dosažení určité teploty sám zdechne. Chcípal se i při driftování...

Am kind of surprised the DME didn't shut the throttle off after a few mins at the limiter. You could hear it bouncing at the end for some reason after the entire engine was completely wrecked after how long (minutes? hours?) at 6,750 rpm or so.
