Two things (among many others) I love about Lehmann's singing: she really sinks into the low notes, and no one else sings the vowel ü with such a beautiful color!
Thank you very much for this beautiful German rendition of aria I treasure immensely. Last week end I went to NYC to attend a meeting and found a time to visit Morgan Library & Museum. Boy! was I intimidated by his rare and first book collections! I found the original first edition of Goethe's "Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre" and that brought me the memories of Opera Mignon and aria "Connais-tu le pays" and the Original German poem.

It's cool how the German fits as perfectly as the French. I wonder what Je suis Titana would sound like in German...
