it does look as if this snake has a respitory infection, however that shot they give snakes for mites is NOT safe! It can kill snakes. I'm not saying you did anything wrong at all, you did what your trusted vet told you to do, but some vets don't know as much as they should about reptiles (I'm a vet tech), and that shot has often been leathal. There are better treatments availible, I'd find a better herp vet if I were you. It wasn't your fault at all though. You did what they told you to do.

Ive heard of snakes doing this after owners put pest strips in their cages it usually lasts a couple days then the snake dies.it also looks like a respiratory infection snakes with respiratory infections often open their mouth and appear to be "yawning" usually accompanied with bubbling liquid from the mouth in its advanced stages.

If you're vet told you that it got mites from the mice then they don't deserve to work with reptiles. Mites on mammals aren't the same ones that live on snakes. It's sad to see something like this when it can be treatable and preventable. Better luck on your next snake and hopefully your next vet (preferably a herpetologist).

i had a ball python that was a hatchling or some thing that would be acting fine then iit would put its head upside down while its body was normal and after a while it died we got a new one though and the old was sticking its tongue out ur anything not moving

@TedWinni i got a special spray that goes onto the animal iv have done that once but they came back week later today i have repeated the procces i dont just spray her i tottaly clean the viv like today i took her owt and put her in warmish water for about 45 mins while i emptyed her viv washed everything with HOT soapy water then dried it then i totaly disifected it i stuck my head in there i can not see a single thing all of her items in her viv have bin submerged in water for about an hour

to me it looks like hes got respatory infection as he keeps yawning, this is a sure sign.

most of the time it can be cured by raising the temps in the tank but does need treatment.

I use a ceramic heater with stat for my royal as this helps prevent RI.

I think your vet got that wrong, i think he had RI. poor little fucker.

That snake definitely looks like it had IBD (Inclusion Body Disease). It attacks the central nervous system of the snake and they start loosing control, and it happens pretty fast. Just keep an eye on your other snakes if you have anymore.

I agree you should evaluate your husbandry practices. mites may have been present but they clearly weren't the cause of death. (trust me ive treated mites more than once) It dosent matter if your other snake are fine, make enough bad choices and it will catch up to you eventually
