i have a g5 power mac, bargain from ebay, doubt i will ever find one so cheap again! I love it, but is is being sold again, as i already have an iMac g4, power mac g3 and a macbook pro! Too many lol How come you called your cat nipples! :)
It would be nice to use 50TB of Ram, 400TB hard drive, Intel Atom for the processor going 50.9GBs and also have it so that it uses WiMax technology as well.
Making Mac the ultimate system around. Now that's a proper computer system.
LOL tho, you'll have to buy a whole new pc knowing macs and their upgradability. If you want a fast and cheaper system, especially in a desktop, you want to build your own pc. and anyways, a mac is a pc, so in a sense the grammar is incorrect
I do remember the same thing happened when Vista came out ,had to, basically, buy a new PC cuz it wouldn't run on slower computers. Although you're a bit misinformed because Snow Leopard runs on all intel based macs. True, PowerPcs are left out ...but oh well. Apple kicked iPhone 3G users in the balls by enabling video only on their 3G S new iPhone and not on the 3G. These days video can be recorded with any basic phone but not the iPhone. :|
Yes, actually. If you built a similar pc laptop it would only be like 200 bucks cheaper, which is worth it to me for everything that mac laptops offer.
Sweet I'm elite! ...or 1337? Anyway, I'm a programmer and my interest is Networking and kernel hacking and I love the mechanics of OSX and FreeBSD.

16TB of RAM is theoretical. Windows 7 will also be able to reach that number, in theory. For the home user, it's overkill I would think. But even we they can't reach that number, I think we'll still see a huge increase in RAM speeds this OS generation regardless.
WHAT 16 TB??????????!!!!!! REALLY???? dang thats super fast dont you think thats too fast what im i thinking nothing is too fast in the computer world
uh.. sry then, misread the thing.. 16TB is not possible yet and it is only a theoretical value -- meaning that in future u wont be scared of adding more ram and that os wont support it (eg stupid vista)..
It was confirmed in the developer releases as being Intel only but there are ppc kernals, x86 and i386 ones embedded so people are unsure about the final release. As it stands at the moment though, it's Intel only
From what I was saying before it's been confirmed now mate. Quoted from Engadget:
"It was just a day short of a year ago that we first got a bad feeling Snow Leopard was going to be end of the road for the PowerPC crowd. Now we know the truth, with Apple confirming Mac OS X version 10.6 will require Intel processors, cutting the cord on that rich lineage of alternative CPU support. From here on out it's Intel or bust -- until Apple finds a new silicon suitor it prefers, anyway."
You usually get close to the latest version. So on the Mac I bought last month, I got 10.5.6. I only had to do minor security updates with Software Update.
Everybody's going "Woooo 10.6," but Apple never said there would be a MacOS 10.6. They announced a new MacOS, but they weren't specific. I'll laugh at all of you when they come out with MacOS 11.
Well, actually no they didn't. They said it was a new major release called "Snow Leopard." Just recently they have started calling it "OS X Snow Leopard," but I'm almost sure that was AFTER I made that comment. For that matter, they still aren't calling it '10.6.'
Wow ... everything we already knew, BUT with a bonus, facts about real snow leopards ... that's nice :D - No one really knows more than anyone else on this, except the lucky guys and girls that got the developer beta release :) - Now, i can't figure out whether i want info to leak from these developers, because it always seems so nice and neat when presented by Jobs or any other working at Apple for that matter :)
Search for "leopard system requirements" and the first result will take you to a page that tells you that it will run on some G4 systems. Search Apple (or Amazon) to see current Leopard OS X prices. But we won't know about Snow Leopard until Apple announces more details.
yep, just like we are lawling at 1 mb of ram back in the day xD and like wow i have a massive 16 mb harddrive xD - working our way up to teracore processors?
It has speed improvements! Aero is using 50% less memory! Boot-up time is something between 15-25sec! DirectX11, also kernel is updated with new instructions for the latest CPUs! Its able to use up to 256 CPUs (multitasking is much improved)
What set up do I need as far as hardware specs for an Apple if I want to do some midi/audio recording? I'm sick of having stupid Windows and I want to make sure I buy what I need.
Pretty much any new Mac will work for this. But if you plan on having a lot of tracks, you may want to get some decent power in terms of CPU and memory. But you could go portable with a MacBook Pro, or desktop with an iMac or Mac Pro. Depends on your budget, really.
I am wondering if you will need to have 10.5 to upgrade to 10.6, or if 10.6 will be its own self contained upgrade. Basically if you still run 10.4, could you just jump to 10.6 with out having to go through 10.5?
Unless Apple changes things for this release, you won't need anything to upgrade. The last 3 OS X releases haven't had an "upgrade price" at all, allowing you to install on any compatible Mac for the same price regardless of what you had previously.
Not sure what you mean. You don't have to buy anything. I'm sure just as there are a lot of Macs out there still running Tiger and earlier systems, that there will be a lot of people that stick with Leopard and don't buy Snow Leopard.
ok so with the snow leopard droping in about a year mac are gonna gets some upgrades like they always do. and i was planning on buying a new imac and a new macbook but since watching this video i think ill hold out untill snowleopard hits its only a year gives me time to save up anyway so i dont have to pull out the credit card
wow, smaller footprint? they're finally getting it. i produce music and the worst thing ever is a huge footprint by the OS. Windows Vista is completely our of the question. If OS X wasn't around, i'd be forced to use Linux, which has an insanely small footprint.
Nope. That's an Intel Dual Core iMac. So far, we only have reports that the developer version of Snow Leopard requires Intel, still no official word on whether that is Apple's plan for the final.
Biggest thing I noticed in SL was the space that was freed up. Good to see the changes to the dock menu for downloads and documents, too.
