This is brilliant! I've watched it again and again. I've looked through your blog, but I wasn't able to find any chart. Have you decided to digitize it? I really want to attempt this pattern with a friend's family name, but I have no idea where to start. What size needles did you use? How did you know how to map out the uncial font so beautifully?
I know! I saw the scissors and was like NOOOO!!!!!
Great job, BEAUTIFUL work of art, and so very inspirational. :) Thanks for sharing, it's wonderful watching your hands work the yarn like a human loom! I HAVE to learn how to do it, and after watching you I'm ready to try!
loved your video, am a beginner and have found a shop that will teach me fair isle knitting. I liked your color and fiber What are the colors, and the fiber you used.and where can I buy the colors you7 used..??
why cut it ? it's very beautiful . by the away , what's "Fair Isle Knitting" ? need to sew it later ? will it be in pieces ?... u are very brave . if i were u , i would not have cut this .
Fair Isle and Nordic sweaters are usually knit in the round. Steeks are cut for arm holes, or to make two fronts for a cardigan. I haven't gotten up enough courage to do a sweater with a steek, but someday.....
i have not courage to do so at all .... in fact , I have never tried Fair Isle before cause i've just learnt how to knit . I have only tried to knit neckerchief only . But i'll try this later . ^^
Oh. It's so beautiful. Your awesome. I love your video. I'm just learning how to knit. I hope someday I can knit as beautiful as you do. Thanks for sharing. Any chance you live in southern california and give lessons? :)
No. The yarn is very hairy & sticks together. You also hem the cut edges to keep them in place. I've made and worn Fair Isle sweaters for 15 years with no unraveling.
What is the music? The knitting is marvellous, one has come to expect this kind of excellence from the Fair isle tradition. I only hope that I will one day when I am old and have time on my hands to learn it.
i screamed at the steek cutting but i'm ok now. beautiful work!

spinel20,
what I define fair isle as is...like, using different colors to make a pattern, like what she did in the video,
like if you buy a knitted hat, a lot of times they will have those nifty patterns on them
Hope that helps! :P

I've been knitting since I was four, and I'll not say how old I am now, but I still don't have enough courage to cut something I've knit.
However, I keep seeing all these great lusekofte (sp) patterns, so one day, I'm sure I'll tackle it.

Beautiful outcome, but what about getting at the row-by-row work?

I'm considering digitizing the chart and putting that on my blog. Is that what you mean?
unionpearl 2 years ago
This is wonderful, I'm working on learning this style of knitting, do you by chance offer this pattern for sale?
Beautiful

It's not really a pattern. I'm considering digitizing the chart and putting that on my blog. Would that help?
