id love to see this musical i was only like..9/10 when this came out on the west end. i have the dvd but i cudn't really get into it fully, apart from the songs which i love. love the music video at the end proves george still has a beautiful voice
lets hope that it appears back on stage here in britain where it belongs, never got chance to see it but have dvd and watch it almost once a day ....bring back TABOO please
@crimetime5 the sketches were shitty. i think if you are going to design clothing and costumes, the sketches should Be just as amazing as the finished products. one example, the gaultier sketches for madonna's Blonde amBition tour. those were some amazing sketches. the costumes were amazing for taBoo were amazing. they reproduced leigh's designs quite nicely without ruining the feel of the original designs.
I really have a lot of faith in this musical. I'm a Yank who prefers the British version and I know that this will one day come back as a big bad ass revival!
You cant just blame Rosie for the failure, she seems really enthusiastic. Maybe they made mistakes but even so, Broadway is not a place for creative ideas, its a place for tourists to see Cats or whatever crap is on that the bus tour goes to.
LISTEN Taboo shouldn't have been moved from London it would have still been there today... Broadway wasn't ready for it and really it didn't deserve the greatness of it. I'm tired of Taboo being made fun of in the states. SNL! Great clip :) (sorry I'm just pissed)
My God, how about that bit where dear old Rosie bellows 'I'm the producer', and everybody spontaneously applauds her - actually the way she is constantly getting gales of sycophantic applause from everybody in the room. Jesus wept.
I saw the musical twice in London and it was fantastic. There are many great actors in the show especially Euan Morton, that guy oozes talent. The worst thing they did is let Rosie take it to the states and change it!
Rosie should've just made an independent movie out of the original play instead. But not a filming of the stage show, a real movie, a musical. George says she toned down the gay, big mistake with something like this.
It's in his latest bio, he complained about Rosie toning down the gay for the Broadway production. She didn't have anything to do with the London production, that was before her involvement.
he complained exactly of the opposite. Rosie wanted to make it more gay and that's why she hired Charles Bush. IMO the hetero plot was absurd in the London version.
I haven't actually read his last bio, but I remember Rosie thought she was insulted in it. And I remember reading an article written by George at the time, in which he DID complain about her toning down the gay.
Really? but she dropped the whole "confused guy falls for girl, questions his sexuality and girl leaves him, goes back to girl by happy ending" plot from the London version and hired famous gay playwrigth and drag performer Charles Busch to rewrite it..
taboo was amazing, bring it back awesome

Holy CRAP what an annoying collection of personalities. Are all Broadway-types so showboating and self-obsessed?
(I think I just answered my own question.)
