SOMEONE HELP: I need a new mother board on account of the fact that i just bought a brand new gtx 460 and its being held back by my pentium d processor, unfortunately my xps 400's motherboard doesnt support anything above a pentium D (im assuming because it doesnt support a core 2 duo) i have my heart set on an i5 quad and i want to know if this motherboard supports it or if there is a cheaper one out there that supports it
Hey Albert, should have studied the board a little more!Though EVGA statesyou could run a 45nm cpu,in actuality you can't,some have gotten the board to accept the 45nm processor(a very RARE few)!!I called EVGA up,the tech told me: "It's not guaranteed, because the board went out at the time the 45nm came to market."...hhumm..Does that make sense? This board operates on 65nm cpu's!EVGA engineers know how to make money by screwing people over!Ohh well,I picked out the best 65nm cpu: QX6850/1333mhz
@thereddog223 no i have to computer 1 is a ancient pavilion which i have not upgraded at and still have old mouse with it and i have gaming which is fully upgrades
Now, this might be a stupid question but would this support HD4980 (which i have right now) and would support Xfire? This motherboard cost like 89$ on Tiger im planning to buy this mobo!

it sure can just make sure that your case can fit both of the cards and that your power supply can power them both you should get around 750 watts. May i recommend the Corsair TX750W?
hey guyz i have a question i planing on buying a mobo but not sure if i should get a xfx 750i or evga 750i i know evga has great customer service but im looking for performance here. i want to know which 1 is better to me they both semeed basically the same. thankx.
thankx XD yah i like evga myself bought a 8800Gt from them a while back now i decided to buy Intel Core i7 920 Processor with EVGA nForce 750i SLI Motherboard and gona add 4 gb 800mhz ..... <<--buying all that and combining it with what i already have , two 500 gb hard drives , tv tuner , light scribe dvd supermulti drive/ cdwriter , dvd rom , 8800GT , and im a lil concered about the PSU i have it's 550 watt im not sure if that would be enough for this lol .. thankx for your feed back tho XD
i play my games with this, and when im playing, u get over 30fps but even in halo 1 i get "lag". like its loading a frame or something, help with this please?
I've had the same issues with noise. The SB fan is stupid loud, and it's placement b/w the PCI-E slots makes it difficult to find a replacement, especially with a GTS card. I have also not been able to find a bios setting for changing the speed, only for the NB fan. It's terribly irritating, if anything.

running:
Dual Core E8400 3.0ghz
4GB OCZ Reaper 800mhz
EVGA GTX 260 core 216

runs great........and its EVGA, so their warranty is great, and they also have a step up program....which is also nice. this is a good board, and its definitely at a good price as well.

Perfect motherboard. You can upgrade to the best gaming cpu, the Core 2 Quad (well really second best, but the i7 is expensive and only 3 models exist).

A stripped down 780 but worth it at the price range of <$200. The southbridge has a fan unlike the 780i. Cool board. I was gonna get one since my 680i was failing but I RMA'd my 680 and got a 780 in return. Anyway, nice review, great mainstream board, and worthy to have in a gaming PC.

Yeah, this is the board I'm planning on getting. At first I wanted the 780i but, the more I learn about this board, the more I realize it's the best choice.
Go to Tigerdirect, and look at graphics cards, this will show you. A graphics card case starts at about 3/4 inch above the top of the contact pins on the bottom. So by the time the contact pins are down in the slot, the card is still 3/4 inch above it.

Yeah, this is the board I'm planning on getting. At first I wanted the 780i but, the more I learn about this board, the more I realize it's the best choice.

What are the Pros & Cons of buying this board over the 780i FTW apart from price?
TtotheBdoubleO 3 years ago
get the 750i FTW beacsue this board runs one pci-e at x8 so when your running sli your not on max

No your graphics card/s sit above that cooler.
Go to Tigerdirect, and look at graphics cards, this will show you. A graphics card case starts at about 3/4 inch above the top of the contact pins on the bottom. So by the time the contact pins are down in the slot, the card is still 3/4 inch above it.

that heatsink below the PCI-E slot..wouldnt that stop a Graphics card from fitting into the board?

if it is a dual slot graphics card, yes
