    It would have been the perfect time of the week for the Russians to attack-- no one paid attention to the sirens then.

  • My father has an old picture book of california from the 60-ties.VERY intresting because of an picture where a chrysler siren (!!) is rotating while the picture was taken..its "foggy" n the picture because of its roatating..

    If i come to my dad i can take a photo from ths "historical photo".

  • Send those blower belts my way. We have a 1000 in Elkhart In that has had a broken blower belt for over a year and a half now.

  • hootergirlsrhot is right! You can barely see them, just look for a cluster of yellow on one side of the road behind some greenery. I'm going to try it in Google Earth to see if I can get a clearer shot.

  • ***UPDATE*** Google Earth does give a clearer shot, but I see no Thunderbolts in the picture, so they were all removed before the pic was taken.

  • I was there on the 27th and i tried taking an sd10 bot it was so fucking heavy, that and i didnt have a traler. long drive from cali.

  • if you go on Google maps and search this, "4674 South Houghton Road, Tucson, AZ" and go to street view, turn around, you can actually see the thunderbolts resting there

  • Iumpysnake I was there on Monday and I got that SD-10 that was sitting out the it had good bearings in it i was supprized

  • @lumpysnake took off all of the shroud and rold it up a cople of wood boards we used pipe cuters renches generator etc it toook about 4 hours and we got a good thunderbolt controll box and a sd-10 one

  • I just checked at the site, and ALL of the Thunderbolts are gone.

    Looks like the guy that took apart mine was trying to get it for him or herself.

    Glad I got one before it's too late.

    Also all the Blowers are gone now too.

  • @bloo96 yeah I went down there not to long ago and noticed the same thing. I only saw 1 blower though. ill have to make an update video sometime.

  • A travesty. Why just leave them to rust and deteriorate when there are people out there that'd be more than happy to give them a new home? At a quick glance, I thought those two SD-10's laying side-by-side were ACA Allertors.

  • Indeed. Its kinda like a convention for guns. Lots of dealers, be it commercial on independent, go there to "Show" off there different products. You can buy damn near anything from a gun show.

  • Huh, I was unaware that was my left :P  jk. That is an 11 meter radio, more commonly known as CB or "Citizens Band." I have a few vids of me talking to different people.

  • It depends on what kind you get. You could go down to wal-mart and get a cheap one for $40. Or you could go and drop $250 on one like mine.

  • whoa i just got back from hearing the thunderbolt 1003 in high low and dang it was very loud the siren sounded great at 2-3 rpm and 6-8 db i should have used ear plugs being only 30 feet away i could hear the roar of the blower it was a hum not a bad strutter by the way if u need help with stuff about ur thunderbolt if u ever restore it let me know also when was the last time u heard a t-bolt go off it was about 7 yrs not counting youtube so i was happy to hear this one go off

  • im finally done restoring my thunderbolt it looks great and runs pretty good i was able to get mine to rotate better, as well i get to go see a thunderbolt 1003 go off at 630 central time tomarrow 9-9-09 its going to be the fire high low wail also do u think it was a bad idea to remove the thunderbolts as much as i do some people here didnt like the look or the noise i just wanted to kick their ass for saying that

  • Yeah the whole point of the siren is to make noise. LOTS of noise. And boy do T-bolts do a good job of that. Glad to hear you got your siren in ship-shape condition.

    I need to get off my lazy ass and give mine a new paint job.

  • Nah I dont let the choppers rpm go too high. Or I just stick 3 or 4 shirts in the cone to mute it. Besides if they do complain ill just point it at there living room and hook a leaf blower up to it. :P

  • oh thats a good idea with the t-shirts i should keep that in mind one of my neighbors called me angrily cuz mine made noise even though it was in the garage it probebaly made the nise outside cuz it did rotate , and like you said yours cant rotate with the rust doesnt that hurt the motor trying to rotate it but it cant ?

  • No there is a slip ring in there. i could turn the belt by hand with little effort.

  • Yes, they have been heavily mutilated.  Some even beyond recognition.

  • If you look directly south of the sirens you will see a couple of buildings. At about 4PM the folks at the "Highway department" show up for work. You need the ask the Boss if you can have one. Im not sure what would happen if you just took one, but i would play it safe and ask first.
