My friend owned this on NES so we both beaten it together through trial and error together, I have played this on emulator but I can't count beating contra on emulator because that kinda counts as cheating to everyone I only got hit about 5 times on the emulated version.

@Empu1 Yeah, videogames nowadays aren't really as hard as they used to be. Case in point: Donkey Kong Country Returns. An amazing game, and by today's standards very difficult. I certainly found it challenging but if you compare it to the previous installations, it was very forgiving. Its a shame actually that games aren't as difficult as before, it takes away from the sense of achievement. Nowadays every1 expects to finish a game, when I was a kid finishing a game was something to brag about.

I never played Call Of Duty before, but I did play Contra several times in the late 80s and the first half of the 90s. Between Call Of Duty and Contra, I would choose Contra hands down. Contra is the stuff of legend, and the music kicks ass with a lot of very good sound effects, which will be around for a long time. Contra Rules!

(in all seriousness, HELL NO CALL OF DUTY IS NOWHERE NEAR CONTRA. CONTRA IS A SHOOTING PLATFORMER! COD IS A FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER! There is a difference! That, and their shotguns are nowhere near as awesome as the Spread Gun of Contra (which itself is probably a shotgun anyway, concentrated bursts of bullets at close range for example)!)

modern games has a lack of spinning in the air while jumping, awesome spread gun which bullets are covering all of the screen, catchy themes, Konami code, sharing lives with your friend when he is out of them, and that feel when two players need to get down to go further, they stand on edge of a platform, counting "1...2...3!" and jump down, but one of players suddenly gets back on a platform while the other one is falling to death. And then he is frustration.
