  • matts and kaberle will be the greatest leafs!! 10+ with the leafs. even though they are both gone :(

  • Instructor44059 AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA best comment I've seen! Mats is the best leaf hands down! I don't like wen ppl say gilmour he was with the leafs for how long? i believe 6 years? Sundin had the C double gilmours years not sayin gilmour was shit but its MATS SUNDINNNNNNN(BOB COLES VOICE) LONG LIVE MATS SUNDIN! BEST LEAF EVER!!!!!!!!

  • @DJdaveyshpins You're wrong. George Armstrong was better.

  • whats the name of the song???

  • He set the franchise back ten years, best Leaf ever???

  • I just looked up size & skill-combo in the Ultimate Hockey Dictionary, there was a picture of Mats Sundin.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATS SUNDIN

  • This man is the reason I'm not ashamed to say I'm a Leafs fan. This is the Leafs I know, and love. Nothing will make even consider giving up on them.

  • sundin is the master of the backhand

  • Forget Greatest Leaf Ever. Greatest Captain Ever.

  • Thanks for the memories, Mats.

  • Sundin sucks cock Alfredsson takes this fucker to school.

  • @rushpowerpratt dude dn't start shit you won't be able to finish sundin is a whole lot better that alfertson in fact the leafs are a whole lot better than the sens alfertson is a bitch like the rest of his team as for sundin he can shoot pass and kick some ass sundin would skate circles around alfertson alfertson does not deserve to have a c on his jersy no one in ottawa does

  • @hanmerboys Ahahaha Toronto better then another team ahahaha

  • @rushpowerpratt damn right last time i chequed the sens have not won a cup in over 100 years and every time they play the leafs in the playoffs they allways loose so ya the leafs are better than the sens

  • @hanmerboys Last time I checked the Sens were only founded in 1992, and the original Ottawa Senators won 11 cups. When was the last time Toronto even made it to the playoffs? Ahhhh it doesn't matter because currently Ottawa has talent and Toronto doesn't, maybe in a good 20 years you'll finally make the playoffs. Btw how's Kessel working out for you pumkin?

  • @rushpowerpratt ahaha dude the sens may make the playoffs but they will never win the cup toronto still has better players the ottawa for example dion is better than the intire sens team so stfu

  • @hanmerboys How come there too shit to make the playoffs then? Ahahahahahahaahaha but really how's that Phil Kessel trade working out for you?

  • @rushpowerpratt ya well not bad becouse when i went to cee leafs vs boston they won and again afer that vs washington but he is still better than anywon on ottawa

  • @rushpowerpratt It's called passion for the game, and I don't know about other true Leafs fans, but it's the memories that keep me a fan. Name another captain like Mats? You can't. There is only one Mats Sundin, only one Darryl Sittler, only one Wendal Clark, Curtis Joesph, Felix Potvin, Dave Keon, Tim Horton ( who may I add has his own line of coffee shops named after him). There is no other team like the Toronto Maple Leafs, good or bad.

  • if you think sundin is the greatest leaf ever give me a thumbs up :D

  • too bad he did 'nt will the cup

  • rakovinotvorny

  • Sweden best player ever

  • @LarsMario foppa is better

  • hes maybe one of the greatest ever but back in the old days, it was scary how good leafs were

  • Sundin had his best time in the leafs

    - A real sniper doesnt see the goalie, he sees the net.

  • Great video but Aki Berg is the greatest leaf ever

  • @tbanks88 lol, I think Berg is the greatest Leaf ever, but not Aki... Bill

  • @tbanks88 lol, I think Berg is the greatest Leaf ever, but not Aki... Bill

  • @tbanks88 Aki Berg isn't even the best benchwarmer ever

  • @tbanks88 he isnt even the best benchwarmer ever

  • take out the question mark in the title

  • @torotnota amen

  • I think Sundin is best all the time in Leafs history but there was also Salming who was great, another Swede.

Also Gilmour was very good one but his career was shorter than Sundins ones in Leafs.

  • good song fits him perfectly he knew how to get it done if it wasen't for sundin man i don't know what would happen love sundin and will miss yea #13 the greatest number and player in leaf history and allways will

  • Does your greatest player bury your franchise for 5 years? We're still suffering the consquence of building around Sundin.

  • whats the title of the song?

  • He's the king ! There are some HQ clips with Big Mats at

    videoclip18. com

  • such a skillful player for his size he will be remember by everyone favorite player of alltime good on yea mats

  • Best ever. It's a shame he never got a cup.

  • Best ever. It's a shame he never got a cup.

  • What's the song called?Artist?

  • @TheMacBookEdition It's a part of Clint Mansell's compse Requiem For A dream...The track is called "Summer Overture"

  • @mTrMacGyver Alright, thanks!

  • Leafs will never be the same.

  • sundins the best player to ever lace em up and put the foil on for the leafs. takes a special kind of person to replace wendel clark, and the fact that he did, and then held up the team for 18 mother fucking years without another offencive threat(other then mogily when uninjured) insists he's the best.

  • 3.06 Did he fake that pass!? best ever!!!

  • I miss him...

  • Sucks that he quit, my favorite player of all time.

He had such an ice cold way of play that just gave me goosebumps!

  • Swedish Viking Warrior!!!

  • dude u blind his 500 was at 23 seconds in

  • not sure why you left out his 500?

  • @bryanf21 you mean the one at 0:20 ?

  • @MapleLeafsUnofficial i noticed tht but i think it would've been cooler if u finished with it and sundin was and always will be the greatest leaf

  • last decade( witch is 10 years , so gilmour is not included) this top 4 has been the best leaf .....

number 4. alexander mogilny 3. gary roberts 2. mats sundin 1. wade belak..lol!

  • Top9 best player in the world.

  • hes an ok player but man he can hit...

  • wat song is in the video?

  • Lord of the rings requem of a dream the two towers.

  • Clint Mansell, Kronos Quartet - Requiem for a Dream

  • @NUMBERScc no...Clint Mansell - Summer Overture

  • Strong words coming from an Italian. What have Italy ever accomplished in hockey history other than embarrass yourself everytime you've entered the ice?

  • Amazing leader and player. Wish we had him now.

  • great player

  • I never wanna see anyone with number 13 in Toronto again.

  • @MrPineappleman93 We should retire his jersey!

  • @Thecoloon leafs unfortunately never retire jerseys...they only honour. that sucks because there's so many former leaf greats like sundin that deserve to have they're numbers retired. no wonder dave keon is pissed at the leafs organization. i don't want anyone wearing #13 anymore either, the number of role model and all-time favorite athlete

  • @raptorleafthey should atleast make it so #13 can only be wone by the best of the best like sundin

  • makes me proud of being a swede ^^

  • @candyfreak27 Hey! You can be proud of him. Sundin is one of the biggest sportsman all over the world. He has been loved as much in Canada as in Sweden or everywhere in the world, even in Hungary! :))

  • @candyfreak27 i am proud that the greatest sweed in the world played hockey in canada it makes me proud to be a leafs fan

  • No. It's the Leafs managements fault he left. He had a no-trade-clause and wanted to stay here, but instead of allowing him to the brass gave him hell for it, do you really expect him to come back after being so disrespected like that. I know I wouldn't. Lets stop looking at it one way. Sundin gave more to this organization than anyother.

Fuckin' right he's the best Leaf ever.

  • R.I.P sundin the hockey world will not be the same with out you :C

  • Dude, he's not dead.

  • Sundin was the best! Too bad he went to Vancouver though, bit he still my all time favourite leaf!

  • he was one of the best i loved him but Darrel sittler was the best, and best the ever will be

  • How do you figure? His 10 pt. game? Vaive was the only 50-goal scorer in Leaf history. Why not him, based on individual statistics?

  • Sundin was by far the best leaf ever, anyone who says other wise has thier head up thier ass !!...... HE OWNS EVERY FRANCHISE RECORD !!!!!

  • No, Sittler had 6 goals, 4 assists in one game. Vaive was Toronto's only 50 goal scorer to date (Errol Thompson had 48 goals playing on a line with Sittler and Macdonald) and Ian Turnbull's 5 goals in one game by a defenceman is still a record yet to be broken.

When there were only six teams, the competition was tougher because only the best players made it to the NHL.

  • dave andreychuck scored 53 in the 93-94 season

  • @skypilot5973 I believed that there were three players who scored 50+ goals for Toronto Mapleleafs . Vaive , Leeman and Andreychuk

  • GOLF LEAFS GOLF!

  • did mats sundin die

  • Sundin is not the greatest Maple Leaf ever. You have to put Keon, Armstrong, Bower, Broda, Horner and even Sawchuk ahead of him. These were the types of players that won Stanley Cups. They thrived when it was all on the line. Sundin, a great player. But not the greatest.

  • dunt forget gilmore

  • I can't believe all you people think Sundin is the greatest ever. What a sad state of affairs for the fans of this team. You consider a player who never guided the team to a Stanley Cup to be the greatest there ever was. I suppose since the team hasn't won anything in over 40 years, this was to be expected.

avatarfan4lyfe: Yes, Gilmour was quite the player. He embodied everything you could love about a rough-nosed hockey player. He won his only championship with Calgary, however.

  • they also won stanley cups when there was 6 teams in the league... considering the competition sundin was up against in his career... not saying hes the best but im not saying he isnt

  • True enough, but even in a 6-team league, the odds of winning the championship 4 times in 5 years (like they did in the 40s/50s) are relatively slim. Sundin was a very good player, never the best of his time. The Leafs of the "old days" had some of the biggest names ever enscribed on the Cup.

Perhaps I am just a mark for the old guard (and Canadian players), but Sundin will never stand out, for me, as the greatest ever.

  • thats is because you are yet another man who i stuck in the past. why is it soooo fucking difficult for people to admit there is talent these days? it doesnt matter how unreal crosby or ovechkin are, someone will say a guy from 30 years ago was the best ever. why is it always the past that was better? i dont get it, he holds every franchise record, and had no one on his level to play with, which could be why he never won a cup. there were a few alright guys, but no one on his level.

  • I'm not 'stuck in the past', I just have a certain level of respect for the players who built the game up to where it is now. The ones that blazed the trail. They played for substantially (I mean substantially) less money than Crosby or Ovechkin play for today and yet relished in their victories as much or more so.

Sundin's statistics speak for themselves, but they will always have that glaring hole. If he won them a Cup, I would easily consider Sundin ahead of everyone else.

  • what you say is true, but you have to look at his supporting staff. 1 player can't win a cup it takes a team. i think only 3 years in his career in toronto he had a decent team with him.

  • We can pander all day about how he never had any help, but the fact is...it's not true. Hindsight is 20/20. He had a few teams that made it to the Eastern Conference Finals. Here are his statistics in those playoffs:

    1999: 8 goals, 8 assists, 16 pts.

    2002: 2 goals, 5 assists, 7 pts. (injured)

    Nothing spectacular.

In the '01-'02 post-season, it was players like Alyn McCauley (5 goals, 10 assists) and Gary Roberts (7 goals, 12 assists) who "supported".

Did he really not have help?

  • yea im totally for canadian players too.. only a few euros impress me.. but sundin with the right team behind him could of had a stanley cup, buts lets face it... the leafs management before... well lets not even call it management... but n e ways after gilmour and clark left... sundin never had a real chance at a cup... only the leafs and habs have won cups like that... but u just cant compare todays game to back then

  • nice vid! greetings from sweden

  • blue and white for life...fuck all you leaf haters

  • Miss you already Mats.

  • RIP Mats.

  • what you mean rip? Hes not dead... lol, just retired from hockey..

  • did mats sundin die

  • A waste of talent playing in Maple Griefs. He wasted 13 of his years playing for them and some of you trash him sayin he has no heart? Grinding year after year in a team that has no potential what so ever to win the cup... Thank god not all ML fans are that ungrateful.

  • it's only few, most leafs love and respect him. he's what a leaf should be, he broke the records with no ego, never complained, and made everyone on the team matter. a great leader and a class guy, rare to find anyone like him.

  • Mats retired today, a sad day for hockey.

  • Mats Sundin has no heart? You're an ass

  • sundin didn't ruin them. are u kidding, he loved being a leaf. i bet he would have resigned here but the leafs didn't want him back.

  • and im sorry but i dont have a problem with him going to another team for a chance to win the stanley cup!

  • for all the people that are still holding a grudge on Sundin, you need to let go. the reason he stayed and didnt want to be traded was because he thought they still had a chance to make the playoffs and they did still have a chance. and as to him not resigning, well, he was unsure about his hockey future for half a season, and he still had interest in returning to the leafs, he just wanted to win a stanley cup as well

  • Thats right i am from sweden to, i have meet him in gothenburg:)! very nice.

  • mats sundin is the greatest leaf ever and that aint gonna change

  • at least not any time soon

  • best player ever to not win the stanley cup..

  • i love this song

  • i must say im so damn proud to be from sweden. he is one of the best hockeyplayers in the world, mats fan du e grym!

  • best leaf ever? ya that bar is set high lol

  • sign him again he will fit the new young leafs team he can be captian and the leader and he can be a mentor for all the young players

  • dude there is no way in fuck we are gonna re sign sundin

  • i thought that threw and i think its a silly idea and your pretty much right

  • why?

  • Because he fucking backstabbed us by not letting us trade him. He made it clear he wasn't gonna re sign so we try to get something for him and sundin was a huge baby and wouldn't be traded.

  • how could you call our captain a backstabber? theres a reason no ones wearing the C right now

  • read my comment and you'll know why he is a backstabber as for the C problem by the beginning of the season we will have a captain probably beauchemin

  • possibly the best leaf ever if not the 2nd best to daryl sittler

  • great vid

  • omg sign him NOW!!!

  • 0.38

Nice little trick he played on that finn.

  • Mats Sundin is the best leaf ever.. He deserves a stanley cup. I miss him in toronto too.. but he has to move on eventually.. MATS SUNDIN ROCKS!!!

  • i miss mats sundin in a leafs uniform.

  • he just don't look right when i see him in a van uniform

  • I thought he looked good in Toronto wearing Away colours...

  • i agree. he will always be a leaf. and i wonder if he will ever play again or if he is really done? btw he deserves to win a cup.

  • Comment removed

  • He´s the best Leaf ever!! And top 5 on my list of the best players ever. Too bas he never will win the Cup... :-(

  • requiem for a dream.

  • The song is titled "Requiem for a Tower," not "Requiem for a Dream." It is a more dramatic version that was created arranged by Simone Benyacar, Dan Nielsen, and Veigar Margeirsson for the "Lord of the Rings" trailers.

  • I forgot to mention: this song is featured on the Corner Stone Cues' album "Requiem for a Tower."

  • Damn, that guy can shoot. What a sniper.

  • no doubt about it.

  • maple leafs suck, go habs go

  • Comment removed

  • Mats Sundin is the best!

  • His number must be retired.

    Best Leaf ever!

  • I love the Leafs.

    Mats Sundin is so great.

One of the best Icehockey players in the world.

    it´s sad, but now he´s a canuck.

    but i like him =D

  • See i think he is obiviously the greatest leaf ever no doubt he is a good player. Then you have why he go to Canucks because he wanted to win the cup, then people saying then why didnt he go to Detroit since not all teams wanted him maybe???

  • Sure he went to Vancouver to win the s cup. who can blaim him, after so many seasons of blood and sweet and inguries, he owns nothing to no one.

Great person and a great player of the game, Last chance, go for next year Mats.

  • best leaf ever defenitely one of the best to skate on ice

  • SUNDIN OWNS YOU ALL! ;D

    sundin is an epic win!

seriously, i'm a sundin supporter and i always will be/

  • you said it right csis25. where are all these Sundin supporters now?

  • Awesome !

  • BYE BYE Sundin, go back to Sweden and eat your meatballs. What a disgrace of a comeback. Take your $5 million and run. Disgraced the whole Leaf organization by not accepting a trade. Could of played with Detroit who will win cup again but no has to go for the money. You just summed up your whole sorry ass career.

  • he and like most all nhl players are in hockey for them self, not the organization... players making a mint is kind of sicking

  • nice editing making the movie flash all the fucking time so you don't see the goals!! nice editing really!!!! *not*

  • Börje Salming was possibly even better.

  • He must be!

  • there is no doubt in my mind as a long term leafs fan that sundin was t best thing to ever happen to us and now that he is gone we will miss him forever

MATS SUNDIN WE MISS YOU, YOU WERE THE BEST. thnx for posting this..

    --B--

  • mats please do something!

  • Saying Clark is a greater player Sundin is just a ridiculous statement. Sundin has over 1300 points in 1300 matches. It doesnt make any sense at all. I mean, Clark isnt a bad hockey player, but he isnt even close to Sundin in any part of the game.

  • Great video, he makes everything look so effortless. He will always be the #1 leaf in my heart.

  • ya your comment is so true thanks for writing it

  • Keon was probably the most skilled Leaf ever, greatest Leaf = George Armstrong

  • I think Daryl Sittler was the best Leaf ever

  • Sundin pwns!!!

    Really good video

     5* !!!

  • For us Swedes team loyalty sometimes means more than producing goals. Mats is a legend in Sweden, but in all honesty he has always been more loyal to the Leafs than Three Crowns. many of us just wish for hem to finally get the S. Cup. Mats has given his whole career to the Leafs, and what a career it has ben.

  • this is definitely the first time i have ever heard this song in a highlight video

  • He's my Hero

  • im not sure cause i dont know all leafs player. But i guess that Mats Sundin and Borge Salming have been the best leafs ever

  • yeah sundin was great

  • I will always love Mats

  • mats is the greatest leaf because he put up those huge numbers year after year and he never even had an allstar calibur type winger on his side. no matter who he played with he always performed

  • same exact deal with clark, only he had heart and wasnt a hippocrate.

  • how can you say mats doesnt play with heart, he gives everything he has every time he steps on the ice and he always performs. did you see how emotional he was when he played against toronto?
